  • Just a great song and singer

  • Just about the most under rated singer of the sixties. This lady should have been a major star

  • Todays singers are not like those of the 60,s and no backing singers either.

Does anyone know where I can buy Maureen.s CDin the UK

    Thanks

    Di

  • @lillysgirl2007 on-line Bim Bam Records

  • @SirBasildeBrush

    Thanks thats great news

    kind regards

  • @SirBasildeBrush Thanks. Bim Bam did not have it, however a person in Germany is selling the CD and there are 9 available if you know of anyone else.

I am going to buy it,

    The item no is 270842894576

  • @lillysgirl2007 Pity about Bim Bam, they usually deliver! Anyway, thanks for the info.

  • @SirBasildeBrush Forgot to mention, they are for sale on EBay

  • @lillysgirl2007 I am 64 years old now. But that song brings back so many old memories. 1964 was a long time ago. And two years later I was in the Army and headed to Vietnam. Seems like that war changed everything......especially for me.

  • It always seams to me that all the female singers of the sixties COULD sing!

The female singers today try vocal gymnastics but miss the point of actually carrying a tune.

And where do you get to hear sweet sounding backing singers today?

    Rant over.

    Thanks for posting

  • @wareidav Rant welcome, I was doing the same myself watching X-factor singing for which winning seems to consist of singing the loudest in the most affected gospel style.

  • @SirBasildeBrush I agree, I wish the style would 'change' but then again I'm a fan of gospel too so regardless I'm satisfied.

  • @wareidav I second that! Not a big fan of Leona Lewis' "warbling" at the top of her vocal range!

  • @wareidav "vocal Gymnastics" sums it up perfectly! Which is exactly why I can't stand the likes of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and all their peers!

  • Thank for this fantastic video Keith......never realize there's a female version of this beautiful song sang by BV. What a voice! She really does justice to it. Love both! Great post!

  • Very, very nice. Never heard about her but she has very nice voice. Thank you for great posting.

  • @hunlandsMom ,,,and thanks for enjoying.

  • Best ever version where is she now? Still performing?

  • @SuperRockinroger Don't think so. I heard she owned a stage-school in South Wales

  • Maureen Evan -much much under-rated UK female vocalist. But personally I still think the Paris Sisters' version is suprior!

  • Hey Macvatu! Cilla Black a great singer? Give it a rest . She ripped off Jackie De Shannon and Dione Warwick. She was a screecher!! The rest of those girls you list, yes, good but Miss Priscila White! Absolute crap!

  • @Propylnitrite I would just like to say that I agree with your comment regarding Cilla Black. I do not know why she was so popular. I do think however, she was in the right place at the right time!

  • Ou etes-vous maintenant, mon amour. Charle.

  • I love this song...I went to sleep with beautiful dream.

  • Logging in from Wellington, New Zealand. She's a gem.

  • @rorigiles wow, that's a long way...

  • What a Voice.

    Thanks for this Posting.

  • @whispperson ...a pleasure.

  • Love her beauiful voice.

  • Here in Britain alone in the 60s we were spoilt for choice with girl-singers ; Maureen Evans, Sandie Shaw, Cilla Black, Marianne Faithful, Kathy Kirby, Susan Maugham, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clarke, Lulu, Julie Rogers, Alma Cogan etc etc, there were so many and good singers too. But slowly the rock bands took a strangle-hold on the music scene and the girls got relegated but not forgotten !!

  • @macvatu definately not forgotten!

  • Where do you find these gems ?

    Thank you However

  • Thanks for posting magic

  • <3 I can't believe I'm JUST discovering this. c:

  • its a shame modern music isent like this

  • Oldies but goodies luv it ! Love how you love me steve x

  • Such a beautiful voice, this is the best version I think....:)

  • nice singig

  • You really got to believe this !!! PHIL SPECTOR wrote this song , no kidding !!

  • Great song. But the slide show is especially creepy - the first image morphing onto the second one. Ahh!

  • GREAT VERSION BASIL LOVE IT THANK MY FRIEND

  • I love this version of one of my old favourites.

    Thank you for the pleasure.

  • Simply OUTSTANDING a lovely version thanks for posting.

  • @gf1001 Thanks, and glad you liked.

  • This is far and away the best version of this song! It has warmth, richness and a velvety smoothness that tears at the heartstrings!

  • our very own welsh songbird...long before Charlotte Church..this is the original voice of an angel.

  • what a beautiful romantic song

  • A very fine cover of the Paris Sister's song, although I think the Paris Sister's version just edges it, a close run thing though.

  • Close thing, although this one has that lovely change in intonation around 1:57.

  • love thiis laddy, used to go to her theatre school.

  • I heard she has a school in Cardiff, Swansea or somwhere like that.

  • what a beautiful song!!

  • nearly brought tears to my eyes and im 24

  • powerful..!

  • @jawstherevenge87

Only 'nearly'? You're a hard man!

  • one of the great forgotten singers.

  • I love this song. My darling nan always played it for me when I stayed with her. Brings back such happy memories of my childhood and my nan and gramps!

  • Pleased to bring back the good memories.

  • i call my grandma nan too and it mad me think of her as well

  • A beautiful rendition I've never heard. She's got a pure, clear voice. I however favor the Paris Sister's more breathless, sexy version.

  • Beautiful cover, but I too must agree with you. Priscilla's voice is just angelic!

  • In my opinion this is the best version of this song.

  • Does anybody know where I could get this version of this song? I like Maureen Evan's version better than any other but can't seem to find it anywhere :(

  • I see what you mean, going for 70GBP on Amazon! However, Google "Bim Bam Records", and go to site. Type in Maureen Evans - it's the 'LIke I Do' CD you want, 13GBP.

  • I hadn't even found it on Amazon, probably just as well! I'll try the other site, better value I think! Thanks for your help :D

  • DOWNLOAD IT AND WRITE IT TO DISC

  • What a stunning voice, this is my favourite version of this song, although i love Bobby Vintons version too, Maureens just has the edge being Welsh like me!!

  • Thanks for posting i loved this one back in the 60ts and still do thanks ..

  • Nice one.

  • "Heavenly" . . . . thank you.

It makes my day to listen to such talented singers.

Keep up the good work, SirBasil.

  • My pleasure, thanks for listening.

  • We have some good singers today but we had some great singers in the 60's maureen was one of them.

    Seebeee

  • The songs were better thats for sure..5*******..

  • I thought this was going to be just another cover of a well known gem....but Maureen breaths new life into it.....Many thanks for making my day......

    Bashful Basil III

  • It's a beautiful version. Highlight

for me is when Ms Evans affects a rise in the melody at 1:56. Nice moment.

  • It just seems so effortless for some really talented singers.....you have great ears my friend.....her humming gets to me also

    Charles Curry in Bollywood.

  • I Like it++++
