Wow, you guys in Oregon sure do love those military-type things. Lots of guns and planes and helicopters. It is so awesome! How many times have you seen the blue angels?

LOL! Actually Oregon tends toward the very anti-military, but I enjoy that stuff, so it's a big part of the events I go to, and thus post on here!

I figure I've seen the Blue Angles around 8 times. They come to the Hillsboro Air Show about once every 2 or 3 years, while the Thunderbirds are less than half that much. Also I've seen the Canadian Snow Birds a couple times- they fly less advanced trainer jets but there's twice as many which is cool!

Why because we are a democractic leaning state? I really hope that is not the reason you said that because the repulicans are for the military industrial complex for profiteering not pro soldier as seen by the way they have treated veterans of the gulf wars.

Any decent liberal would not fault you for any of that especially since you like ww2 which by the way was the last war we had any business being in. Just last night I sent my brother a link to a book, about a modern world wide war against a zombie outbreak, called "World War Z" - I figure you meant ww2 but still it's a huge coincidence.

I know there are some liberals who don't have a problem with military history and even some who are into it, but I have had many, many bash me for simply enjoying it- and it's not just military history for me- I love all history, but the wars tend to be some of the most interesting times.

Awesome video! The helicopters NEVER get that close at our air shows, must be great to see the action up close. That parachuter guy must be pretty brave too! Good footage of the faster jets, and the fireworks looked great too.

Thank you Callum! Yeah, this is kind of like the old air shows they used to have here, where it's a much smaller audience & everything is much closer!

LOL! 3 of the parachuters landed in the crowd but one for some unknown reason ended up going down behind the trees on the hill! As soon as he disappeared there a police care tore out of the parking lot heading that way!

I'm doing good-but too hot! It's going to be like 100 F all week! Way above normal!

thats awesome! i've seen a helecopter right a my lake picking up water from it. there was a huge fire a few years back.

and those air shows are really cool too! it would be terrible if two planes crashed together!

i was thinking of bringing my camera to the fireworks. but i didn't for some reason.

Thanks Dion! That must have been pretty cool seeing the helicopters come in to fill up on water like that!

Yeah, I've been to maybe 30 air shows & only seen one crash- a 70 year old lawyer from California flew his beautifully painted old 1950's British fighter jet up & toward the end of the show he took off to fly home but had an engine malfunction & ended up crashing into a house- it was behind some trees so we didn't see it hit but saw the huge plume of black smoke come up.

Thanks David! And yeah! That day, my brother-in-law & oldest nephew took the boat & spent the day fishing, my dad, sister & niece took the 4-wheelers out into the dunes, and I, my mom, & youngest nephew went to the Air Show. We all went to the fireworks, except for my dad who was hurting from the riding in the dunes.

Best of all, for 4th of July on the coast, it wasn't cold & rainy!

Thanks Curtis! Yeah, I always love fireworks. I was there with my mom, sister, her husband & kids. We were worried though as at the normal time for them to start they didn't and 5, 10 then 15 minutes passed. The thing is they always post the show's date online but this year they didn't, so even though there were a thousand other people lining the bay waiting to see them, we starting thinking maybe there wasn't going to be any!

We were so relieved when they started!

Oregon has very strict fireworks laws-basically anything cool is illegal. But going to Winchester Bay for the fireworks is twice as good because we get tons of people from California & Washington with their 4-wheelers to ride in the dunes-they bring great fireworks & set them off there while we wait for the main fireworks & the police just turn a blind eye!
