I assume that you posted it for Hoffmann, a wonderful singer, but I could not help being drawn to what I found to be one of the most fastidious orchestral accompaniments of the work I have ever heard. Rosbaud has always been a personal hero, and it is unfortunate that his work is largely forgotten by the general public.
Whoever you are, thank you so much for posting this. Mahler has always been my favorite symphonic composer, and "Der Abschied" from DAS LIED VON DER ERDE is his most poignant and heartrending song. Liked, loved, favorited! ♥ ♥ ♥
Schwere Kost- aber in toller Tonqualität. Witzig: heute fiel mir die Biographie Mahlers von Wolfgang Schreiber in die Hand. Ein stummer Vorwurf aus dem Bücherregal: "Warum hast du mich noch nicht gelesen?" Es wird höchste Zeit, stimmt.
An excellent version, thank you. Helmut Melchert's singing is also very good in this record, it would be wonderful to have the other movements.
