  • I am trying to find the scores of moondog, do you know where i can find them ?

  • finally a video with no stupid comments against a certain teenager pop idol.

  • we dance to the moondogs music in our projekt. i love his music. :*

  • @TheAnnii95 What is your project, sounds fun. Do you have a video. Harry

  • very goood, i always like to hear Moondogs music..

ALTHOUGH, he hated tremelo/wobble on strings, so if they wanted to get it proper-style, they'd play it straight & without the movey-fingers.

  • sehr schöne und interessante Musik

  • The guy on violin kinda looks like him too. :D

  • People would be walking the streets of Manhattan and say, there's Moondog

  • Enfin!

  • What's the name of the first song? Please...

  • Albums issued include:

    COLUMBIA MS 7335 (1972)

    MUSICAL HERITAGE SOCIETY 3883 (1978)

    COLUMBIA KC 30897 (1971)

  • Awesome! This helps fill in a memory I have of my mother playing Moondog's music when I was a young child, but a search in records turned up nothing.

  • I love that percussion. I grew up in NYC and I sort of remember the occassional Moondog sighting. Too bad more people don't know about Moondog. Not enough NY'ers even, not enough blind people even. The blind community is pretty tight-knit, everybody seems to know everybody else, but nobody I've spoken to remembers Moondog. He was the ultimate outsider I guess. Thanks!!!!! for posting this video and keeping the memory of Moondog alive. Y'know somebody oughtta make a movie about this guy.

  • wow

  • I had this album in the 80's....a jewel of contempory music. An achievement!.... Brava! Moondog and R.I.P!. Peace!

  • i love moondog, he is my musical hero

  • Is it funny that half the guys have long white beards, i thought it was moondog himself in jeans and a denim shirt.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics for "Down is Up"???

  • My advice is to google Stefan Lakatosh, the trimba player, and Managarm. Ask them, but there are probably copyright issues. "Down is Up" is a wonderful piece.

  • It's so nice to hear Moondog's music! Thank you! Wish I could have heard it live.

  • That's really good.

  • poor Moondog, I like his Jazz Music!

  • Why Poor?..he was a GENIUS,no matter he never was known as Britney Spears lol

  • he died in 1999... great music.

  • i thought he died in 2004...

  • is this first song improv? or is it an actual one of his compositions? Does anyone have a name if so?

  • Down is Up

  • Thank you for this video. I enjoyed it very much.

  • The beginning of this movie is made impromptu! The mucians met for the first time, there was no rehearsal before!

  • The Lyrics are:

    "my name is moondog yeh

i play a moog by korg hey

    i got the viking horns

sound like two gold french horns,

    put juniper berries and peppercorns

on my roast rack of venison."

*As transcribed from the original NavajoScandia language spoken by Moondog.

    Sincerely,

    The Legendary Danny O'Doul

  • Even after dozens of songs.. i still love this 5/4

  • that was great

  • great to watch and hear, thanks for uploading. It sure shows that the elderely members of the orchestra has been inspired by moondogs apperance with their long white beards and thats just great!

  • I`ve just discover moondog's music... It's awesome man... AWESOME! Thanks for sharing.

  • glad to see music like this survive. to often are great minds and their music lost.

  • Do you know the title of the track at 4'.51"?

  • It´s called "A Robin is Calling". A rather unusual and different music by Moondog.

  • pfffff..... music by Moondog rather unusual and different lol!!!

  • Solid performances from the instrumentalists...Very different music, but original!

  • What a great instrument the trimba is...

  • Moondog'S music is just amazing! Without him my music heart would lack something... he just fill my wishes, i adore this person so much!

  • magnificent, thanks for sharing this ; )

  • Who?

  • ahahaha :D i like you.

  • lol that's classic

  • I love Moondog's music. That's for keeping it alive!

  • And he was a homeless guy who wondered the streets of New York, writing music all day long... A F'n musical genius!

Where was HIS mansion in the hills! It's just not right...

  • Moondog was a real original: a musical pioneer and a true artist in every respect. He lived his life as he wanted and left behind a body of work that gain importance as time passes

  • You must be a mix between a moron and an ignoramus to make such an obtuse comment.

Although I must admit, not all of the performances are to the expected satisfactory level.

PS For future reference: the correct spelling is 'Country'. There is nothing wrong with either genre you mentioned.

  • Wish I was here. Thanks for posting that !

  • Moondog was a genius!

  • immense

  • Finally!!! Somebody posted a Moondog video! Thank you thank you!!!!

  • did moondog ever meet sun ra?

  • I don't think so. But I definetly know that Moondog did collaborate with Charlie "Bird" Parker, hence the title to Moondog's piece: Bird's Lament. Which I think was dedicated to Charlie after his death.

  • I don't think the two ever worked together. Charlie Parker always liked Moondog's work and met him on the streets of New York one day. They were going to work together but then Charlie Parker died so they never got the chance.

  • Actually, nevermind. I think they did work together. Shows what happens when you get your info from wikipedia.

  • No, they did definitely NOT work together.

    I know from 1.source.

For more info see webside: managarm . com

(I am not sure if links are allowed...)

  • on jupiter, obviously

  • No, he did not.

  • Moondog was the bridge from Bach's polyphony to the Minimal Music concept of Philip Glass or so they say. Thanks for this unique recording.

  • Moondog helped design the propulsion system for the space shuttle!

  • rest in peace moondog.....you are a great insperation

  • FYI: Moondog Music Festival will take place in New York, on 2-3 November 2007 at the Advent Lutheran Church, at Broadway & 93rd.

  • Wow - great to see some Moondog on youtube! I've been hooked on him for the last couple of years. Love that 'Santa Fe' tune that starts right after 3:30.

I keep hoping someone pulls out some actual Louis Hardin footage one of these days...

  • That seems farfetched, but yeah I hope somebody does.

  • He appeared on several talk shows in the sixties. I specifically remember him on Merv Griffin so there is quite possibly some film somewhere.

  • Your hopes will soon be fulfilled...

  • Can't wait!
