WOW. The sequence at 4:33, Jordan grabs the board a few feet in front of the basket, than makes it cross court in THREE freakin dribbles. SICK SPEED, the man is a freak. MJ = GOAT
Larry was amazing, here n the 1990-91 season he was past his prime, this is after he had bone spurs removed from both ankles & the 1st of his 2 back surgeries but he still is able 2 school the youthful Pippen & Grant (both n their 4th years Larry n his 12th! LOL) . MJ the greatest 2 guard ever, Larry the greatest forward ever, 2 of the greatest 2 ever play the game, easily.
Fuck Melo, most overrated player of this generation, maybe of all time. The guy plays no D,and reminds me a bit of Marbury as being a cancer and never able to win
Jordan from 95 to 98 still best in the game right? But this Jordan here 90-91 or jordan period from 87-93 my goodness could you imagine him playing today? Jordan's talent just can't stay enough of, there hasn't been anyone close to dominating the game like Jordan did.
2 of the 3-5 greatest players in history on the same court...MJ is the best ever, but I still would take Birds 86Celtics over any team MJ played with, other than the original and only true DEAM TEAM that is...
Jordan is one of the best ever, so is Bird. Jordan could give you a few more points while Bird was the better passer and rebounder. Two different positions. But, I'll take Bird.
you should check MJ during the 88all star game in Chicago-He grabs a def rebound and tries to head up court, but Olajuwon s in front of & on 1side of him while Magic is a little durther bak in front of the other. They both go for the steal, but he splits through them with a perfect right-to-left behind the back to slip past Hakeem &then crosses back over ball remaining below his knees to avoid Magics swipe at it in1 split second..The whole crowd "OOohs" and he hasnt even crossed halfcourt...
"it would be great if those two teams had meet in the 92 east finals. what a shame."
They probably would have if the refs had called a foul in Game 4 of the Celtics-Cavs series. The Celtics were up 2-1 and were about to win game 4, but Reggie Lewis was fouled at the end of the game and the refs ignored it. Anyone else remember that?
That season (1990-91), the Celtics started out 29-5, but then Bird's back went out and it went downhill. The Bulls obviously came on strong at the end to win the whole thing.
Type in "Celtics Bulls Easter" into the youtube search box. Someone posted highlights of the Easter game that season. It was a good double-overtime game.
I remember this game. This was November 1990 where the Bulls started off 0-3. Brian Shaw won the game putting in a rebound over Jordan. Bird hit 9 straight field goals.
wow Brian Shaw with the gamewinner. He was making big shots long before the Lakers championships, but I cant believe that ball didn't get in Larry's hands
"wow Brian Shaw with the gamewinner. He was making big shots long before the Lakers championships, but I cant believe that ball didn't get in Larry's hands"
I taped this game when it was on that night, and when you watch the replay of the end, you can see how disgusted Bird is when he doesn't get the ball.
haha oh I bet he was. Someone as lowly as Brian Shaw getting a chance like that over Bird. You know Larry wanted to hit that shot and knew he could do it.
Look at the unreal speed this guy had, as indicated @ the 4:38 & 4:40 juncture. I remember watchin a fund raising telethon that MJ & Deion Sanders & some other guys donated their time & money to at a b-ball camp in '90. They timed MJ in the 40 3 times..he posted a 4.3 twice & a 4.2 once..that's Deion Sanders type speed in the 40 LOL!!
Where'd you see that telethon, blackadam? I'd like to see that. I know Jordan ran a 4.3 second 40 in his sophomore year at UNC, but never heard anything about times taken later in his career, though I think he was visibly faster in the late 80's than at UNC or his first couple of seasons.
I just remember watchin' it while at a B-ball camp at the Univ of Arkansas. I'm from Little Rock, and I was about 15 or 16 at the time. It was being held somewhere in florida if I remember, & deion had invited a some fellow athletes to his fund raising event for inner city youth & they even think MJ would be able to make it, but he did. It was amazin'..
reggie lewis was sick, man i wish he didnt die like that, he was one of my favorites and our man for taking over for bird (which was supposed to be len bias... damn)....... Bird was the BEST, I'll never forget that 1984 series vs the lakers we won, he was SO amazing (magic was too to be fair)... mj was sick.
michael's my idol, but Brian Shaw was HIS MAN to block out and that cost the team the game. but the great thing about this loss was that it was the motivation that they needed to prove everyone wrong that year, which ultimately won them their first NBA title that year.
I do have a regular season game from 88-89 where MJ scores 40 but not many highlights in that game. MJ gets close to half of his points from the FT line. I also have Game 7 of the 1990 ECF against Detroit but that one was a blowout. MJ did play quite well in it though(32 points and 9 assists).
And Bird is such a gamer. And this is HOBBLED Bird here, just doing it to one of the best defenders ever in Pippen. And people say that prime Bird wouldn't be able to hang today. Whatever... lol
If Dirk Chokewitzki can win an MVP these days, Bird would definitely dominate the game today as well. He did it against the greatest defensive team ever (Bad Boys Pistons) at a time when referees didn't mind rough plays. He would easily average around 27 ppg in today's offensive-friendly rules.
This silly "And 1" Generation, that's who lol! They routinely confuse physical ability, with skill. For some reason, they can't wrap their minds around the concept of them being 2 different things. They've been spoiled by the "aesthetics" of what highflyers like MJ, Clyd, Dominique, Dr. J, etc..brought to the game, while totally ignoring their more skilled facets, i.e. High FG% & FT%, High Rebs avg's & so on..they're totally lost..
Thats why im so happy about young players like lebron and dwyane wade blackadam
the nba been on the right path since 03 draft and 03/04 season and have been playin the right way and loaded with talent right now, imo best its been in 15 years and goin into a great era (been a diehard fan since 82).... i agree with you 100% tho
Jordan's speed from 4:35-4:38 is insane. He goes from 3-4 feet INSIDE the FT line to the other baseline in about 3.5 seconds WHILE DRIBBLING. The fastest times in the 3/4 court sprint each year WITHOUT dribbling are around 3.2-3.3 seconds. And he was dribbling and traveled a few feet farther, too. Amazing.
Those guys are only 6ft. Jordan's longer stride combined with his speed get him down the court much faster. Iverson might be able to match Jordan's first step speed, but that's about it.

i was going to point that out among other amazing things. even the shots Jordan misses others cant even attempt to look like they are in control.
and what about an old Bird just knocking shots down like its breathing.

@Dkouts57 ..... Yup, Jordan had ridiculous body control. And of course, Larry Legend holding it down as usual, he was too good.
