  • to get me to learn my maths teacher throws things at me :( ...no joke

  • Ive seen almost 80% of your math videos....and, You're. A. Genius.

  • if u start a school, every1 will stop normal school and join ur school...

    u should think of starting a school at least 1 at each country...

    i hope the government will change their educational system and make it cool...

  • we need more teachers like this. srly

  • i don't know if you look at these comments. . . but what lesson would tell you how to convert

    Y= (X-1) squared -3 to the standard equation of Y=x squared + X -3 ?

  • FOR THE CONFUSED ONES

    A=-9 B=-9 C=6

    DELTA = (b)power2 * 4*a*c

    x1=-b-rootdelta/2a

    x2=--b+rootdelta/2a

    thats how i do it

  • @Crazedgunman12 When you say delta or rootdelta, the people who you are trying to help have absolutely no idea what you're speaking of.

  • why didn't you just add the 3 to the 9 at 4:55?

  • youtube is his school.. this way he can teach everyone around the world instead of a class of 30 =]

  • i did it on the calculator., got it wrong, and still believed your answer

  • for the good of hummanity you should advertise these videos on tv the radio and others!!!!!

  • wow i use to be GREAT at math but its been over 4 years since i took a math course (not counting chemistry courses lol.. or statistics) i just had to watch the first minute and now its all back lol.. funny how knowledge is always stuck in the back of ones head waiting to be rediscovered.

  • kinda trippy he can use a mouse as a chalk :p

  • @livelifeandbhappy1 infact both solutions is right but in special case one of them is right to know which one is right just put one of the solutions in stead of x and if the result equal 0 then thats solution is right

  • so you are saying that whenever we use quadratic formula, we get 2 solutions. so if we want one solution, we can take either of them right? or in other words, how do we know which one is right one? are both of the solutions right???

  • @livelifeandbhappy1 @livelifeandbhappy1 Generally, these things have 2 answers, and both are right. Here's a real life example: you toss up a ball. It goes up and then it comes down. How long has it been in the air at 15 feet if you've tossed it up to 20 feet? Going up, it's been in the air for one 'x' seconds, going down, it's been in the air for longer than that, but it's still a right answer. Make sense? :)

  • @vantarinitel yup! thanks :D

  • Can I just say they showed your TED 2011 talk at 2011 TEDxBoston today, and this is perfect timing, because I have to relearn some of this math to take the Middle School Math MTELs in a few weeks, and there's no math book to cover this much math. You are a God send. And your education model looks amazing. My new goal in life is to become a math teacher and use this model in the classroom, because I think it's saw that so many students don't like math.

  • My kids are going to watch this guy's videos, learn everything there is to know by the time they're 9, and then they can sleep through school all day :o

    The schools' methods are a huge waste of time <.<

    I want those 13 years of my life back -.-

  • best youtube teacher by a longg shhhhhhhhhot

  • "" Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī "" the one who discovered the quadratic equation

    after i watched this video i was wondering who and when this equation was discovered its impassive that it was discovered 8 centuries ago

  • Great stuff

  • Funny how he breaks down things into 30 and 2 for 32. I actually multiply in this case, 32 by 10 and subtract a 32 to get 32 x 9

  • OMG! this guy sounds like sparc mac.... hmmm

  • How can I get the full set from basic math through calculus ?

  • My question would be once you have reduced the first time at 5:48 to get 3+/-√33 over/ -6 . I would think that you could further reduce with the 3 and just have √33 over -2. If for some reason you can't please explain.

  • @Seattle206723 he could had ,the answer would be1+/- sqr root 11 over-2

  • So let me get this straight, if you can'y square root it, you divide it by the number basically?? And then go from there?

  • Khan you could teach all the things learned from K-12 within 2 years or less

  • a little bit confusing... how do you practice this stuff?

  • @mixolidianmode if it is confusing you might have missed a step. either that you are over complicating it.

  • Thank you so much, this really helped me my algebra teacher sucks!

  • wow thank you soo much ! please dont stop making these videos! we really apperciate this !

  • i have a test tomorrow on this...the video is a great overview of the concept... cross your fingers for me!

  • omg... thanks! my teacher confused me to the max .. lol

  • Great job on the website. Thank You!

  • You can start a school. Make it big. so big that it Changes the monotonous way of educational system.

  • He'd just become another part of the monotonous educational system

  • @arv852147963 I agree please start a school

  • @arv852147963

    That'd be really good, provided Sal continues making these videos. Afterall, millions of students all around the globe(or rather, more than a billion people) would like to learn from these :)

  • @arv852147963 i love khan academy don't get me wrong, but when you go to school you don't want to learn..normally but by having this on the internet you are wanting to learn it so you will take in more! =D

    and like yeah he can't yell at you for like not understanding something..

    WOOT FUCK SCHOOL!

  • why don't you start a school?

    I'm not kidding. You could privately train students and make them appear for the exams. instead of wasting whole years in schools.

  • @arv852147963 if he were privately training, all of youtube wouldn't have access.

  • Thanks a lot, DUDE! I all need this on my Math book...

  • THANK YOU!!!!

  • thank you so much! please add more modules because you are good. You sound so relaxed and casual not robotic and boring.

  • on the first problem, cant u simplify more, since its 3 and -6?

  • Thanks, man. Great teaching. Clear, concise and perfectly paced. If only all Maths teachers were this good.

  • Your my most favorite teacher to learn from (what software do you use?). It's really easy to understand the math with you since you explain it clearly ;)Salman !

  • omg this was on the star test 2day also now i know how to do it!!!!!!! thnxs!!!!

  • thanks again!!!!!!

  • this is the first video where you ask the veiwer to just Memorise a formula and dont go into the logic of it.

    am, i wrong?

    ive watched quite a few now

  • i'm quite agree. i hope sal could more explain the concept of quadratic form

  • Hey, these all are great videos. The only thing that I would say is to go a little bit slower, especially on the harder and more confusing modules. Great job on the website. Thank You!

  • sanjay that's the beauty of youtube videos, you can rewind....

  • finally, after hours of frustration i can say "i get it"

    yah!

    now i might possibly pass my upcoming exam!

  • good job

  • what software are you using?
