If you don't mind my asking, what software are you using to stack the images? Just bought an XT10 Orion Dob and I am looking to do some astro photography. As of right now the only thing I can take a clear picture of without any streaking is the moon. Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, atlasdaddy.
@atlasdaddy Hi there, with a Dob, you can image The Moon and Planets just by holding your camera to the eyepiece. If you set your camera to video mode you can use Registax (stacking software) to turn your video into a stacked image. To image faint objects such as galaxies you really need an equatorial mouny with a drive or with GoTo. I used DeepSkyStacker (freeware) to stack the image and tweaked the image in photoshop Elements. Just Google any of this info ... hope this helps
@JamesJames4 Thank you so very much for the info. I bought the dob because it was the most telescope I could get for the least amount of money. I have done a few videos of the Moon as well as Saturn and Jupiter on my channel. I would imagine that I would need a tracking telescope to prevent streaking. Thanks again for getting back to me so quickly and I will be sure to check out the stacking software you recommend.
Hi Jackcr33, no guiding was used. The bigger corrections are thrown out in the final stacked images. But they work in the time lapse to preserve that 'live' feel.
