  • I used to get home from middle school (called junior high back then) to watch this show. It was on at 4:30 EST. Yes, I AM older than dirt!

  • anyone know the name of the first member being interviewed on the video at :03?

  • Wow, good to see this. Somehow I thought these cats were all gone, died of old age. The original members should reunite, man that'd be so cool. This must've been taped a few years ago cuz they should be somewhere in their mid 60's or early 70's.

  • Love this band. Wonder where they are today.

  • "Where the action is" with Dick Clark

  • 74 sodapop...is this from a documentary? If so, could you provide information on it? I'd love to see it! Thanks!

  • To spotbelly

I trust (hope) you know Flo is a man.

Flo is a nickname shortened from "Phlorescent Leech" and no I am not making that up.

Flo and Eddie were nicknames because contractually they were not allowed to use their real names.

  • Flo acting out dropped her tambourine LOL what's up with the 'coon tail?

  • The Turtles are from right here in Los Angeles. It's just too bad that they came out when I was far too young to know their Music. The Turtles are awesome!

  • Dig the cewl cordless electric guitars they had back in 1965! Roffle...;)

  • What a great, fun clip! Who is the drummer? It looks like John Barbata, but it can't be because he didn't join the group til a few years later.

  • What a great group...always so much fun...Real talent, too! Great harmonies to be heard and they actually played their own instruments! Thanks for posting this!

  • Hi That is John Barbata. This clip should be dated circa July 1966.John replaced original drummer Don Murray[who played on You Baby]in June '66.Orig.bassist Chuck Portz who left in the fall of '66 is also in this clip. Therefore the clip is misdated.

  • Another reason this clip is misdated as You Baby wasn't released until Jan.1966.

  • Hi 66buff...you responded to me instead of placing a general comment...not sure if the owner of this video received your response! You certainly know your Turtles trivia! They will remain one of my favorite sixties groups! It was always fun to watch them on stage.

  • Man, Mark Volman with "short" hair! You don't see that every day. Loved "Where The Action Is"

  • The Turtles always had such a great sound and they always seemed to be having a blast.

  • Boy I sure would like to know who that GoGo dancer is on the left of the band as you are standing in front of them :)

  • Mannnnn....that was music.....the Turtles, the Buckinghams, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, BJ Thomas, the Hollies.

  • Amen.

  • The dance was called the Jerk. To funny because it was the movements. Wonderful time too, what a voice he has.

  • the guy on the left in this video reminds me of Eric Morecombe hahah

  • Lovely memories--When I was 11, this was my favorite song and I wanted to BE Jeri Lynn, that girl with the long, dark pony tail and the fabulous dance moves!

  • I agree. That girl on the right could definitely dance. What awesome moves she had. Great feel good song by The Turtles. I dedicate this song to a girl named Becky from elementary school whom I had a huge crush on back in the late 60's.

  • Does anyone know the name of the dance that the girl on the right with the long pony tail is doing? She sure can dance, can't take my eyes off her. Great song too, go Turtles!

  • does the bogaloo sound right?

  • Thanks for the reply but I don't think the boogaloo is it. I looked at the boogaloo dance on "You Tube" and it is different. Thanks anyway!

  • I was born in the wrong era.

  • same here friend.

  • this perfectly captures the joyful spontaneity of the 60's - great video , classic Turtle song !

  • this is a graet video. love the way the girls dance, especailly the girl on the right with the long pony tail. wish i could have been there to dance with her. i was only eight years old in 1965 but i'm glad i was old enough to remeber this great song.

  • Written by P.F. Sloan and STEVE BARRI .....an "alumni" of Norty's Music....the coolest record shop in the Borsht Belt of Los Angeles in the 50's and 60's.

  • Damn, wish they'd have let it go a bit longer to see why the guy talking left the band. It's a shame.

  • buy the DVD...it's called Happy Together....distributed by Rhino Records.

  • Thanks to " You Baby" for this fab share

    Love it

  • Damn, I really want to get my hands on Happy Together: The Story Of The Turtles. Is it available on DVD at all? I know it came out in 1991 on home video but haven't heard of a DVD release. If someone could find this out for me, that would be great cause I'd like to see more clips like this.

  • I have it on DVD....bought it about six years ago at Media Play.

  • Once again, thanks for the joy ride in the Way Back Machine Mr Peabody...love Flo and Eddie, love the vid, love the song

  • The guy at the beginning of this video is songwriter P.F. Sloan. 1965 was probably the last year that city hall was the tallest building in downtown L.A. The music center that Dick Clark mentions had just opened a year earlier. Although it was still called the "Bunker Hill" section, the residential housing that used to be there had all been torn down by that time, and the conversion of the downtown area into a jungle of cold, impersonal high-rises was well under way.

  • Love those Go Go Dancers!

  • Ah yes! Back to the days a 13 year old could take the bus to Hollywood for the Teen Age Fair!

    And nobody had to worry!
