dilla used about a 13 second portion from the song Johnny Dont DO It by 10cc, its about 1:51 into the song. The "voice you hear in the background is an announcer from the original song talking about johnny's death. The way dilla flipped the song is intense, its simple but affective.

This was the FIRST song i heard by dilla. It was a late night in late '06 when i was watching Adult Swim. They usually have great bumps with very nice music but this beat was soooo different. The bump showed a fan message asking what the song in the background was. .As soon it went off, i rushed to my PC to look this up. I come across Donuts on the Cduniverse website. I listened to the 30 sec sample of Waves atleast 10-15 times before listening to the whole album. I was hooked ever-since then :)
