In Wikipedia, look up "United States presidential election, 1860". Take a look at the electoral map.
Basically, today's red states were Southern Democrat, and today's blue states were Republican.
Now, either 1) the political parties remained unchanged over the past 150 years, or 2) southerners accepted Republicans, and northerners changed to Democrats, as the make-up of those parties changed.
The second option is the true one.
Yesterday's Republicans = Today's Democrats.

Don't believe the official story behind Martin Luther King Jr. Yes he was a good man. But he was a plagiarist, adulterer, and was being investigated for ties to communism. Don't believe the official story on JFK either. He was good until he passed a law that severely brought down the Federal Reserve's power.
