  • Gray's Papaya is amazingggg. This video was beautiful :)

  • I just recently watched Charlieissocoollike´s video on timetravelling. And he said that it would not be possible to eat that cannolli over and over again. Though in his case it was a cookie. So, thats some interesting facts.

  • I love this video! And I love Pierre Auguste Cot!

  • I'm jealous, I wanna wander through New York City with my best friend, too! But good video.

  • thoughts whilst watching: you don't look bad in the morning, aww sabrina's awesome, don't feel ubcomfortable, it's a perfect panda playground!, "unseemly" = 1 of your fave words...so is "vindicated", and it is lovely. very lovely.

  • You are SO awsome~

  • THOUGHTS. FROM PLACES. ^^ <3

  • Liek, OMG, I was ON that statue about three months after this. 8D Walking where Elmify - and, lots, and lots, and lots, of other people - has/have walked! Yay!

  • You. Are. Perfect. Keep thinking. Keep visiting. Keep vloging. Keep writing.

  • awesome!

  • you're awesome.

  • This was wonderful.

  • You should do more thoughts from places videos, watching this was such an enjoyable experience!

  • Wow... I wish I could say things the way you do. You make it all so important and poetic

  • now i want a freaking delicious hot dog. :L

  • I have that same archaeological digs shirt.

  • You did this very well. Whenever I watch thoughts from places I feel lame because I know I could never say things that profound. XD

  • hey thanks for sharing your new york story :) I really liked it, I wish you could do that kind of mini documentary on cities again !

anyway I've found you through charlieissocoollike and I think you're kinda cool!

  • Is your friend Sabrina pentecostal/apostolic? That may just be me jumping to conclusions though.

  • Love your eloquence etc

  • Just thought I would say that I love new york and my favorite place to eat was a pizza place in grand central station that names ceretain pizza's after famous people. Anyone know what that place is called? anyways I think if you ever go to another place you should do another one of these

  • I love what you said about New York @ the end: it's SO true! I spent merely 4 short days in the city & felt like I completely and totally belonged there :) -Katie

  • I loved this video of yours, not only because I live in New York but because I loved John and Hank's 'Thoughts from Places'. I really love your vlogs and this one was one of the best in my opinion. You're very articulate and wonderfully thoughtful, incredibly appropriate for a 'Thoughts from Places' bit. :)

    DFBTA!

  • I am watching this at 4:40 am and tripped out a little when I saw the clock.

  • @xorobyngrace haha i literally just checked the clock and it was 4:40 pm...ik its probably stupid but i just got so weirded out lmao

  • that was lovely.

  • If only it really had been Grey's Papaya :)

  • your dialoge was cativating and I hope too see more of you, New York seems like an awfully lovely place(contradition?) THough it might be too busy and crowded for someone with my diaognose.

  • excellent video my sister

  • This is my favorite Thoughts from Places style video... I like it more than John's or Hank's. :o

  • you sound so smart in these videos. the way to describe them. like novel. :)

  • Instant Favorite :D

  • That was beautiful, and I definitely get the way you feel for the city/ the way most people seem to feel for the city.

  • Don't be embarrassed but your percoscious form of story telling is irresistable. I really enjoy your videos I hope that you do this for a long time.

  • Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson!!!!! I love New York.

  • This is a fantastic method of vlogging!

You should try it out more, figure it out, make it your own. Maybe walk around your own town and make some vlog-poetry happen.

    VLOG POETRY series. :D

  • I dont know if you've ever seen the show "World of Jenks" (the only decent show on MTV in my opinion), but this video reminded me a lot of it - only better. I really like the way you summed up NY in the end.

  • I love how you don't need to be funny for me to watch you and be entertained :D

    Also,your very insightful,which is great!!!

  • You were there when I was!(I think..) I felt exactly the same. Felt like home to me..and I'm from Scotland! P.S. I'm not sure if anyone has commented about this, but Paris, I Love You, is that not actually called Paris, Je t'aime? Or are they different? I have seen the latter and recommend it! x

  • John picked up on the contradiction sentiment in his amsterdam video, what a coinkidink.

  • i was just there over the summer!! best couple of days of my life XD

  • What a beautiful video although it was only your experience singularly it could easily serve as a general idea of what one might experience on a trip to new york, well done.

  • Does Sabrina ever stop smiling? :o

  • Awwwhhh @ waking up moment. Sooo cute

  • I just looked back to some of your older video's and I started to wonder if you could explain to us how to make sock creatures?

  • Very nice, stream of consciousness for the win!

  • I do the same exact thing your freind kept doing, i always pick up dropped stuff, help up, keep doors open and some times defend people unfortunate enough to get in a one sided fight. Its a hard habbit to kick.

  • This gave me goosebumps

  • You talk quite fast...

  • I just went to New York for free last month because my sister and I won a contest through Mark. Makeup! I attached the video as response to this video. I hope you like it! Stay snazzy!!

  • I remember seeing that alice in wonderland statue when I was much younger. I have not made my return like you have, but this video makes me want to.

  • Elmify, you are just so delightful. This video is wonderful, it fills me with lovely thoughts, wanderlust and makes me really rather hungry. I hope there are more travelogues to come.

  • OMG, you're like the Shakespeare of Youtube. The way you speak during your videos is like a mix between poetry and storytelling. :D

  • I really loved the ending of this video. It was a great idea to end with a quote, and the philosophical moment gave me a chill.

  • I loved this travelogue :D Your thoughts are very well-formed.

(I just caught up on the past six of your videos I'd missed. That was an elmify-centric half hour.)

  • This is just... beautiful :)

  • Loved this video. Wish I could put my feelings about places into words as well as you do!

  • "A contradiction in itself, but nonetheless, a very lovely one."

    Very lovely, indeed. Thanks.

  • That was very lovely and insightful. Thank you.

  • This video was fantastic. You are without a doubt one of my favorite people on youtube.

  • beautiful! commentary and video, I loved it!

  • You speak so much sense :) very smart girl

  • this was quite lovely, I must say

  • Also its absurdly cool to see you go to places in new york i frequently go to like the met and times square. (i is a new yorker) Which reminds me it is really funny seeing that you took the four train. I live near one of its stops.

  • My god, you succeeded in recreating the feel of these kinds of videos. I swear I have to do one now.

  • So good! I loved this video. I, too, love when the vlogbrothers do this, and I think your version was fantastic!

  • This video was pretty poetic!! I like it!!!

  • Ah, I lived in Manhattan for two years and this makes me want to go back, like, right now. Great video! Also great use of the word unseemly.

  • Hey, your thoughts from places video is def on par with john and hank's! Please keep them coming.

  • I totally completely loved this video.

Have you seen Paris, I love You. Because you end with a line that's quite similar to a line (from the end) of the movie.

  • @velko2240 I actually haven't seen that... I'll have to check it out!!! I love Paris-y things! :D

  • @elmify so do i :D I also like kitties and toy piggies. eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

  • @elmify You should see it. It's quite a lovely film and it is, as you say, very Paris-y :D

  • @velko2240 I thought the exact same thing.

  • This is why you are my favorite youtuber. I never get bored watching your videos.

And you are so pretty! In the natural never needs makeup kind of way :)

  • Comment removed

  • This video is completely wonderful, and so are you.

  • I like your wakeup moment.(:

Also, you might actually be THE best youtuber here. I just wanted you to know that(:

  • I enjoy you. Very much.

    Just thought you should know.

  • You should definitely do these all the time! The Vlogbrother's ones are my favorite out of all their videos, and I think this might be my favorite out of yours, too!

  • I read about that bamboo exhibit thing, it looked so cool! i'm a little bit jealous, not gonna lie. this definitely makes me want to go to new york even more now..

  • I love New York. And your use of parallelism.

And I think you should have gone to 30 Rockefeller and met Tina Fey. I think fate would have been kind to you.

  • This is my favourite Thoughts from Places video. Although John's in Munich was really excellent.

  • OMG I SAW YOU! I was on fall holiday just like you (from Denmark) and I walked on Times Sqaure and you walked right past me! I wasn't sure it was you so I didn't stop you to say hi, but now that I know it was you I regret it ):

  • :D I liked this... you managed to keep it both funny and serious at the same time :3

  • This was a great take on Thoughts from Places! You managed to emulate it so well, I suspect you might be a long lost Vlogsister.

  • I think you are adorable when you wake up. :)

  • I think that this would fit in perfectly with the Thoughts from Places series. Thank you. This was lovely. DFTBA.

  • @bananas1and2 she also looks strikingly like my cousin Allison. Weird.

  • I am glad you tweeted this, it never showed up in my subscription box.

What do you mean by "traditionally elmify"? Traditionally, elmify is awesome, and this video certainly fits the bill. :)

I have never been to New York. Maybe, I will go someday.

  • Honestly, you're pretty cute when you just woke up!

  • oh, its just a cityj. i'll go thereme in novemeberk. omg howtdogs so jealousssss. canolliiiiii showparntttttssssss gonaaaa go hererrrrrr :D

  • I LOVE THOSE PAINTINGS! They're in my fav area at the met. Did you see the Joan of Arc painting next to them? I'm kind of in love with it.

Also, I live in NYC. You made me remember what I love about where I live : )

  • Wow, just wow. Your narration was beautiful. Now, I want to go to NYC.

  • You look strikingly like my friend Allison.

  • now i want to live in New York

  • Wow it looks like you had an amazing time in new york! I love it there :D The longest day trip I took there I went to Greenwich Village, Central Park and Times Square haha but my friend and I weren't familiar with the subway so we walked everywhere.

  • i loved it and i cried.

  • This video was really great. Seriously. *Favorites*

  • i love this

  • You are so effortlessly poetic.

  • I hope to see you do more of these 'Thoughts from places'. :)

    Lovely Video :D

  • I like the sound of your voice.

  • that was beautiful.. why are you so good at everything!?

  • simply amazing!

  • I'm glad I caught this! For some reason it didn't show up in my subscription box. Anyway, this great video reminded me of E.B. White's love letter to NYC, Here is New York. Have you read it? It's really quite arresting.

  • @GregLakeMythSociety

Also, there's this quote from Timothy Speed Levitch about NYC, which fits nicely into your overall theme:

"We are not visitors, tourists, nor inhabitants of New York City; we are New York City. The city is our moving self-portrait and a living art installation carved out on an island of rock, even the cracks of the sidewalk are crying out on the topic of our lives. The city is a profound opportunity to understand ourselves."

  • I loved this vlog ! It really shows that you can do so many different video things.. And they are still amazing ;)

    Simply: you rock.

And this video is probably the closest I am ever going to get to NYC.. so thanks :D

  • love this video so cool.

  • please; what painter is that at 1.45?

  • @xxmaliene Pierre-Auguste Cot

  • @elmify thanks! i really like the painting;)!

  • @elmify Lol! I kept on trying to use google's guessing system "pier g ... pier gu ... pier ge... Why Isn't anything coming up?!" :D

  • @xxmaliene She did say it twice in the video... lol

  • OK. i finally got it. you sound, your talking voice- is EXACTLY like the girl's voice in "braceface." anyone remember that?

  • That was gorgeous. Really. I live right near New York City and I love going there because it's so different from the suburban town where I live and it's really beautiful and amazing to me how SO MANY PEOPLE who all have unique lives that matter just as much to them as my life matters to me can all live so close to each other and be separate and interconnected at once.

Also, you were talking about "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson", right? I might be seeing it for my birthday! Did you like it?

  • What a great video! It's fun to see different sides of you like this... New York City is absolutely gorgeous, I really hope I get to live there one day. I loved the quote at the end, so very true!

  • @vlogbrothers I think you're pretty.

  • Even speaking quickly your enunciation is clear and true!

    Thanks for sharing your trip!

(Don't worry, even in a travelogue the style was still very elmify)
