But something to remember kiddies, Fallout is a series that basicly what if the timeline split in the 1950's and there is ours and Fallout's. In the Fallout timeline, they kept to the 1950's way of life style, but not tech, that, unlike everything else, advanced at an alaming rate, becoming what you would refer to as "Fallout".

i calculated (i'm 15 years old and weight of 55kg) that on the day i have 4 hours of workout i need over 4000kcal of food and on regular day i need around 2000.. i cant imagen 700kcal per day, thats too few :S

me and my family have totally destroyed our yard over the summer lol we made this huge ass shelter and it wasnt some "oh yay thatl be a fun project!" no no im talking "you sit your ass in their for 2 weeks and like it!" the shit is fool proof to my dad works in construction with houses and shit so when we were done digging the hole was maybee 12 by 12 feet and about 16 feet deep he smented in the entire thing then built kinda like a hosue floor for the roof and then poured all the extra dirt on
unfortunatley he lost them and its been like 5 months since wev built it we so its unlikely il find it but if i do il let you know but you can easily find shelter instructions on google if you work in construction on down stairs area in paticular it should be fairly easy to build but i would recommend using concrete as its the safest material against the outside wood would definitaley be a no no i wouldnt recommend using any metals either as its easier to get loads of concrete
and concrete is also much easier to use where as if you make a wrong calculation in your lenghs with metal you got to cut it off where as with concrete you could just mold it the way it needs to be but yeah i would say the hardest part to build was the roof because of the materials that we used to build it we couldnt use concrete my dad was worried that the walls wouldnt support it or that it would crack once we put all the excess dirt on the top of it but yeah if your serious about this i would
i would use concrete for the flooring and walls and metal for the roof thats what we did but anyways back to the dirt we poured the dirt on top of the roof so theirs this huge hill in my back yard now but my dad said putting dirt on top of it makes it a complete underground shelter wich provides the best protection because its under ground grass has reformed on it so its solid ground now not weak dirt like it was a few months back the only revealing area of the shelter is a door that my dad
bought he fixed it up it was an old military installation door so it provides good protection once he fixed it up we attached it and voila the shelter was done their are 2 locks on it the first is a keylock and the second is voice print ID wich was not cheap at all we had to call in some professionals to install it wich costed around 5000 - 6000 anyways out of 10 stars for protection i would give it about a 9 and it defintley has the means to keep us alive for 2 weeks but my dad is still paying
but my dad is still paying off for all the materials and proffesional work that was done to it so far he said hes payed 13k and still has about another 9000k to go before its paid off so yeah we were serious about making ours if your serious about making yours be prepaired to take some serious financial loses we will recover alot faster then the average family though because my dad works in construction and my mom the overseer of one of the factories for heinz here in canada and she gets LOADS
Not true. Plants and vegetables are NOT affected by fallout. Crops could easily be grown within weeks of a nuclear attack. Farmers would probably have to take off a layer of topsoil and till before planting, though, just to get rid of some of the low-level radioactivity sitting on the ground.
@Indrius I am an American who currently lives on a diet like that. Except I also get tons of protein and vegetables. 700 calories a day isn't enough. You would die within 5 weeks from malnutrition. 1800 calories is optimum for an inactive individual. That isn't counting people who are excersising to stay in shape while they wait. They might need 2100-2500 calories.
@WhiteLionness Not true. Ethiopians have had to endure diets much harsher then that. There are places where people are forced into slave labour digging up diamonds and jems from the ground with bare hands where they are fed a diet of around 1200 calories daily. Starvation does happen and it is a terrible thing. Painful too. I once didn't have a job and went three days without food. During that time I had the most painful stomach cramps ever. I hope I never have to do that ever again.

Exactly. I would hazard a guess that shelter occupants would likely rip through the entire supply inside of a week rather than starve. Diabetics who need a certain amount of carbohydrates each day would simply die.

all in all it dam shure wasnt cheap my dad said all that was roughly around 13k but my family takes this matter EXTREMLY seriously and we havent been more unsure of our future then ever before so when the end comes we are covered

it inside their is a water purifior with maybee 10 cases of water bottles down their and my mom works for a industrie called heinz wich deals in lots of canned foods and trust me when i say we are covered as far as food is concerned lol theirs 5 beds 2 ligh switches a 1 ton door like the ones used in military constructions and a ventilation system and not to mention the 42 caliber incase some poor fuckers come to loot the wrong place its not like people are gonna be nice after the fallout but ya

me and my family have totally destroyed our yard over the summer lol we made this huge ass shelter and it wasnt some "oh yay thatl be a fun project!" no no im talking "you sit your ass in their for 2 weeks and like it!" the shit is fool proof to my dad works in construction with houses and shit so when we were done digging the hole was maybee 12 by 12 feet and about 16 feet deep he smented in the entire thing then built kinda like a hosue floor for the roof and then poured all the extra dirt on

unfortunatley he lost them and its been like 5 months since wev built it we so its unlikely il find it but if i do il let you know but you can easily find shelter instructions on google if you work in construction on down stairs area in paticular it should be fairly easy to build but i would recommend using concrete as its the safest material against the outside wood would definitaley be a no no i wouldnt recommend using any metals either as its easier to get loads of concrete

and concrete is also much easier to use where as if you make a wrong calculation in your lenghs with metal you got to cut it off where as with concrete you could just mold it the way it needs to be but yeah i would say the hardest part to build was the roof because of the materials that we used to build it we couldnt use concrete my dad was worried that the walls wouldnt support it or that it would crack once we put all the excess dirt on the top of it but yeah if your serious about this i would

i would use concrete for the flooring and walls and metal for the roof thats what we did but anyways back to the dirt we poured the dirt on top of the roof so theirs this huge hill in my back yard now but my dad said putting dirt on top of it makes it a complete underground shelter wich provides the best protection because its under ground grass has reformed on it so its solid ground now not weak dirt like it was a few months back the only revealing area of the shelter is a door that my dad

bought he fixed it up it was an old military installation door so it provides good protection once he fixed it up we attached it and voila the shelter was done their are 2 locks on it the first is a keylock and the second is voice print ID wich was not cheap at all we had to call in some professionals to install it wich costed around 5000 - 6000 anyways out of 10 stars for protection i would give it about a 9 and it defintley has the means to keep us alive for 2 weeks but my dad is still paying

but my dad is still paying off for all the materials and proffesional work that was done to it so far he said hes payed 13k and still has about another 9000k to go before its paid off so yeah we were serious about making ours if your serious about making yours be prepaired to take some serious financial loses we will recover alot faster then the average family though because my dad works in construction and my mom the overseer of one of the factories for heinz here in canada and she gets LOADS

Not true. Plants and vegetables are NOT affected by fallout. Crops could easily be grown within weeks of a nuclear attack. Farmers would probably have to take off a layer of topsoil and till before planting, though, just to get rid of some of the low-level radioactivity sitting on the ground.

@Indrius I am an American who currently lives on a diet like that. Except I also get tons of protein and vegetables. 700 calories a day isn't enough. You would die within 5 weeks from malnutrition. 1800 calories is optimum for an inactive individual. That isn't counting people who are excersising to stay in shape while they wait. They might need 2100-2500 calories.

@WhiteLionness Not true. Ethiopians have had to endure diets much harsher then that. There are places where people are forced into slave labour digging up diamonds and jems from the ground with bare hands where they are fed a diet of around 1200 calories daily. Starvation does happen and it is a terrible thing. Painful too. I once didn't have a job and went three days without food. During that time I had the most painful stomach cramps ever. I hope I never have to do that ever again.

@NoogLeader Ohh what I meant was that thankfully a nuclear war never occured so people in fallout shelters didn't have to find out the hard way that a restricted Civil Defense diet of survival crackers and biscuits would cause severe malnutrition. Oh, and one positive outcome of western societies means of production being destroyed would be the regeneration of the natural environment. The stresses that 1st world culture put on the natural world would be relieved for a time period giving the eartha time to regenerate. Do some research about how wildlife has flourished in the non-populated zones around Chernobyl. You might be actually gain some knowledge instead of spouting emotive nonsense about "the end of the world".
