  • Sons Of OTIS for LIFE. But who the hell is this Philip Sayce guy??? :-/

Anyways, one of the greatest pedals out there designed by one of the greatest guitarists of all-time: Ken Baluke.

  • That brief throwaway bend at 1:03 - Hendrix was in the room.

  • lay off the coke bro

  • which one he uses the germanium or the silicon one?

  • Sold.... Def getting one.

  • oh god, 2:03... phew!

  • hope it works in bremen ...

  • Phil' your playing is great as always, it may be the recording on the video but the sound doesn't cut through. Could be due to the amount of reverb? even on the back pick up not much clarity. I have the same problem with my Sunface NKT275 white dot, with Strat/Marshall way too round and mushy. So what is the ultimate fuzz ?

  • @Marshall50w Dude I freakin love that round sound. Sounds like he's got more of an ambient mic thing going on. Probably just using the camera mic. I can't stand the harshness of most fuzz pedals when it's too closely mic'ed. This sound is perfect.

  • Ummmm, this kinda freakin' rocks!! Placing my order next pay day!!!

  • would be better demo with less reverb...

  • yeahhhh very good feeling , the big play guitar style hendrix phrasing bluesy rock !!!! j'adore !!!!

  • You just get more brillant over time, Philip!

  • are these the nkt274 or 275 ?

  • Sounds more like an i play like this demo. Was there any fuzz there at all?

  • Sounds more like an i play like this demo

  • @MrFernando5150 The 'i play like this' part of the demo was just a bonus...... what have you got? Let me guess, nothin'.

  • so at 1:27 is that an effect using the proctavia? or how do you do that?

  • Sillicon or germanium?

  • @jsams3 @theinnocents This is the Germanium version!

  • i have your album and your just brilliant, i drifted away from guitar but you gave me faith again and since your music i haven't put it down

  • hey philip, this review wasn't helpful at all. anything in your hands sounds freaking insane. =P

  • Well this is great!

  • Hi Philip !

Is this the Germanium version off the oxfuzz? I read about the germanium transistors that they tend to react to temperature and that there's a internal trim pot to find the 'sweet spot' in every situation , ain't that hard considering it's not an exernal trimpot?

    Diggin' the tone man!

Hope to see you in Belgium soon!

    Peace.

    Robby

  • what is the cool looking amp in the background?

  • what strings would they be? like the guage and stuffs

  • hi philip whens the next time you coming to toronto man

  • please philip, tell us whats your gear! ive been spending the last month in germany trying to get it right.

when you're on a "cleanr" tone you stil have this kinda dirty sound. what is that? what OD is that? and does the strings gauge have a big effect on that sound?

oh yeah and come to israel!

  • Hey Is The Custom By cougar a 150w Dumbleland Special based amp with reverb and an effect loop? Just curious because I can hear some Texas Flood in there somewhere. Phillip you have plain and simple killer tone!!

  • Sounds awesome, anyoneknow what kind of amp is being used?

  • Great demo and playing! Is it fuzz with germanium ir silicon transistors? Because there are both versions on oxfuzz site...

  • @GuitarThrill It`s Germanium.

  • wen do you come to portugal philip =( ???

  • hi philip, were you using vibe pedal with the oxfuzz in this video?

  • hi philip, were you using vibe pedal with the oxfuzz in this video?

  • That pedal is the green one? (right on the oxfuzz)

  • @TheGuitarMartin DOD FX25 envelope filter! ;-)

  • in the beginning u are playing in drive channel of the amp or through a pedal or something?

  • Wow Phil. Just jawdropping. I'm 18, a guitarist, and about to head into college. LOVE this. Thanks for the inspiration

  • i read red you artical in the guitarist magazine so i thought a see if you were on you tube and you are lol :P and what a guitarist you are honestly i bow down to you :D!!! i love the style of guitar you play the tone you have is awsome!!!! my names bradley amd im sixteen years old from scotland and am hopeing to see you and your band play live some time :D i am also a fender strat player lol but seriously your amazing :P!!!!!!

  • What Gauge strings, And what size frets do you use... And what kind of vox wah pedal do you use?

  • @RubyTuesday93 11-58 gauge, dunlop 6000, vintage vox clyde :)

  • You sound a lot like my friend playing you guys must have grown up hearing the same stuff.

  • okay seriously, holy shit, what did you do to develop your right hand speed? you have awesome trem picking, and the picking/fingerpicking duo part from 1:31 to 1:39 was absolutely ridiculous. you're an incredible player.

  • Philip,

I see the Marshall and your Custom by Cougar amps, as well as others in the background. What amp did you do this video with?

  • I'm guessing it's not his first time playing the guitar -- holy smokes!!

  • I don't know Philip, I think that guy "Charlie Axel" has a better demo out here then this one ;-)! Just kidding, but your tone on that one is my go to sample of perfect guitar tone and I bought my Oxfuzz a couple weeks back based on that video, and you playing straight into your Super Reverb and riding the volume the whole time. Your tone with these Oxfuzz pedals is stellar.

  • @yjmsrv Thanks man, I'll say hi to Charlie Axel for ya ; ) Play on!

  • @PhilipSayce Ever had to superclue your fingertips yet????

You're playing is amazingly fast and superbly executed.

You got a great voice too. Very gifted and talented

Don't you ever have sour vingers or something because it's really hard on the vingers all that bending of yours all over the place?? Keep up mthe good work. You fill the gab after the passing of Stevie and Jeff really well.

  • @theshyguitarist He is a nice guy, I've talked to him. And I'm not "enamored" but I do recognize a great player and he is just that. And if you think thats what his tone is based on than you havent been studing philip sayce very long. Your facts are plain wrong man...

  • @MossyOakk Exactly. Thank-you for lookin out. Peace.

  • @PhilipSayce Your welcome man! Anything for a fellow player! Keep rockin' man, love the new record!

  • @theshyguitarist The Oxfuzz is hand made in Canada by my friend Ken. What are these special German $400 pedals you're talking about?

  • What pickups are you using?

    The bridge in particular.

  • Wah into fuzz, or fuzz into wah?

  • @Whitestingray81 I'm pretty sure it's fuzz into wah, at least that's what it looked like when I checked out his pedalboard later that day...

  • @jcm800rhoads Thanks!

  • Phil, I think it's you sounding good, besides any gear you might be using. Fil

  • The cheque is in the mail. ;)

  • @oxfuzz is it germanium or silicon transistors in this demo?

  • AWESOME PHIL !!

  • Good...This pedal sounds sick, seems like it is very responsive to the volume knob?
