this mod obviously got everything wrong. china is a polluted hell hole with nothing but toxic smog covering the sky (in the game you could see blue sky). Also there should be no grass or trees. Only ugly commercial buildings full of lemming-like people.

I know this is probably a very odd thing to say, but as far as video games go, I always found China far more interesting to fight and play as than Russia. No offense intended to the Russians, but the whole "Evil Russkie" angle has, in my opinion, been done to death.

the low tech option is to download acex_pla and extract it to your arma 2 folder
it should look like a folder inside arma 2 called @ace_pla
then you have to make an extension for it to be incorporated into the game in the properties of the game target field "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -noSplash -mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX you will need cba and ace too

for this reason i did not use an updater i just downloaded the zipped files and set em up myself! i assume this means i can now only play on the one server but im fine with that!
@bleushift ok what ya have to do! is pick a server you will stick with because every server likes to use different ones different versions of different files! then ask someone in that server or check their teamspeak channel or their website might have the information!
now the ace files are as follows... and they are like any other mod you install!
i do not recommend grabbing the pbos out of the downloaded ace folders and sticking em in your addons folder or anywhere in arma 2
CBA: Community Base Addons is for the world and interfacing! its basically the base of it which is why it stands for community base addons! without it most mods are impossible! it makes the others work
ACE: Core this one is a biggie has effects physics world effects
ACEX: extras tanks cars guns how they all work (values)
ACEX_PLA: Chinese Expansion (not nessecary unless you want chinese to shoot)
ACEX_SM: SoundMod (Overriding default ArmA sounds) this is clientside so any version will do
the acex_sm is the soundmod one its never needed its never causes issues with servers because its only on your machine and i recommend it as a must even if your not intending on using ace! (not all servers like users running ace) it can cause issues lag crashes and annoying error messages for everyone else! so now we're familiar with the ace catagories!
to use ace you will need @cba, @ace, @acex and then whatever everyone else on server is having themselves!
and as for sixupdater and yoma tools dont use them! the're more hassle than the're worth!
just download the zipped files from armaholics one by one could take a hour could take 2
cba took me about 10 seconds
ace took about 30mins
acex took about 30mins
acesm took about 5 i think
download each one by one! when you have downloaded one open your extractor (winrar is default) then you should see a folder that says @cba. right click on the folder and select extract to...then a browse menu will popup
then a browse menu will popup and add the @cba to the arma directory... C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2. then in there place it dont place it in any folder in there just place it in its own space in arma 2.
do that for each and every @ folder you unzip and then make a arma 2 shortcut on the desktop. name the shortcut ace arma 2 or something different from your normal arma 2 shortcut! right click on it and go to properties in this shortcut and add in the target field
and add in the target field "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX
and any other mod that you have to include
then load the game up and it will either be on straight away or you will have to hit the expansions tab on the main menu and check all the expansion boxes and reboot the game! it should be now running ace!
servers tend to change ace versions every 5 months or so depending on what they want! so ask what version they are running of each mod!
dont think the cba file changes much if ever so lets walk before we run! get @cba and @acex_sm think any of em should be good enough you dont need to be running ace to use these use these ones all the time because they make the game better! the @acex_sm is for better sound effects! and the @cba will be needed to use it! you will notice a-10s sound much better when their firing their cannon at a valley while your on the ground you can hear the guns reverb and the echo of them off the hills!
its been 2 weeks so you might have figured this all out by now but if you still have problems just reply and ill help! it sounds like alotta work but its really simple
just dont drag the pbos out of the "@" folders because it will be a mess to replace them or find them!
well obviously you put ArmA 2 above OFP so obviously any Mod of ArmA 2 is better then OFP in your opinion... the two games arent even in the same arena if you ask me, one is affordable, somewhat easy to pick up and play and the other provides a lot more features and has a much different gameplay experience and it costs quite a bit for a PC to run it.
When ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead comes out FLIR will be ingame but since its a standalone expansion all the old arma 2 vanilla units will not work in FLIR

now getting it to work good luck with that give six updater or yoma a shot n see if ya can manage it
the low tech option is to download acex_pla and extract it to your arma 2 folder
it should look like a folder inside arma 2 called @ace_pla
then you have to make an extension for it to be incorporated into the game in the properties of the game target field "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -noSplash -mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX you will need cba and ace too

@yascumbag ive finally got the acemod to work... what you have to do!
is download the correct versions of all the mods that the server is using
for this reason i did not use an updater i just downloaded the zipped files and set em up myself! i assume this means i can now only play on the one server but im fine with that!

@bleushift ok what ya have to do! is pick a server you will stick with because every server likes to use different ones different versions of different files! then ask someone in that server or check their teamspeak channel or their website might have the information!
now the ace files are as follows... and they are like any other mod you install!
i do not recommend grabbing the pbos out of the downloaded ace folders and sticking em in your addons folder or anywhere in arma 2

CBA: Community Base Addons is for the world and interfacing! its basically the base of it which is why it stands for community base addons! without it most mods are impossible! it makes the others work
ACE: Core this one is a biggie has effects physics world effects
ACEX: extras tanks cars guns how they all work (values)
ACEX_PLA: Chinese Expansion (not nessecary unless you want chinese to shoot)
ACEX_SM: SoundMod (Overriding default ArmA sounds) this is clientside so any version will do

the acex_sm is the soundmod one its never needed its never causes issues with servers because its only on your machine and i recommend it as a must even if your not intending on using ace! (not all servers like users running ace) it can cause issues lag crashes and annoying error messages for everyone else! so now we're familiar with the ace catagories!
to use ace you will need @cba, @ace, @acex and then whatever everyone else on server is having themselves!

and as for sixupdater and yoma tools dont use them! the're more hassle than the're worth!
just download the zipped files from armaholics one by one could take a hour could take 2
cba took me about 10 seconds
ace took about 30mins
acex took about 30mins
acesm took about 5 i think
download each one by one! when you have downloaded one open your extractor (winrar is default) then you should see a folder that says @cba. right click on the folder and select extract to...then a browse menu will popup

then a browse menu will popup and add the @cba to the arma directory... C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2. then in there place it dont place it in any folder in there just place it in its own space in arma 2.
do that for each and every @ folder you unzip and then make a arma 2 shortcut on the desktop. name the shortcut ace arma 2 or something different from your normal arma 2 shortcut! right click on it and go to properties in this shortcut and add in the target field

and add in the target field "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX
and any other mod that you have to include
then load the game up and it will either be on straight away or you will have to hit the expansions tab on the main menu and check all the expansion boxes and reboot the game! it should be now running ace!
servers tend to change ace versions every 5 months or so depending on what they want! so ask what version they are running of each mod!

dont think the cba file changes much if ever so lets walk before we run! get @cba and @acex_sm think any of em should be good enough you dont need to be running ace to use these use these ones all the time because they make the game better! the @acex_sm is for better sound effects! and the @cba will be needed to use it! you will notice a-10s sound much better when their firing their cannon at a valley while your on the ground you can hear the guns reverb and the echo of them off the hills!

just dont drag the pbos out of the "@" folders because it will be a mess to replace them or find them!

well obviously you put ArmA 2 above OFP so obviously any Mod of ArmA 2 is better then OFP in your opinion... the two games arent even in the same arena if you ask me, one is affordable, somewhat easy to pick up and play and the other provides a lot more features and has a much different gameplay experience and it costs quite a bit for a PC to run it.

When ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead comes out FLIR will be ingame but since its a standalone expansion all the old arma 2 vanilla units will not work in FLIR

Don't worry people the ZT99 isn't much of a foe to a M1 Abrams on ArmA 2's battlefield. Tested a 1v1 match face to face and the abrams won
Tested a 3v3 match the abrams all survived with minimal damage
and finally a 20v20 tank battle with 12 abrams remaining and all ZT99s smoked.

But China fighting on American soil is not a realistic scenario. The most likely places for the US and China to have conflict in a highly unlikely event would be places like Korea, Taiwan, or Pacific islands as depicted in OFP2. This terrain we "NEED".

Out of interest, which side are they going to be on? Independent would probably be the best choice (Sino-Russian relations haven't exactly been great these days.. or.. ever..)
Any plans to implement Chinese voices? The pre-define language class "CZ_Akuzativ" would probably be worth replacing for convenience. I don't think it's actually used by the Partisans and it saves messing with the entire config just to add a new voice set.
