Nice stuff! I really like the lens characteristics, great colour too. Was there mush post processing? Also I highly recommend Virtual Dub and Deshaker for rescuing handhold wobble and shutter roll.
what do you use to edit your videos?..iMovie?...Final Cut?...i've seen you mention After Effects before, but is that all you use? I've got a GF1 on the way and all I got is iMovie...which is def ok for putting together short vids, but you seem to have edited color and the like with some of your videos and i'm not sure iMovie can do that...thanks so much and i LOVE the videos you've made....they're so peaceful and warming to the soul...great job
@BustedShutter I use After Effects for most of my short videos like these. I use Hue/Saturation and RGB curves to make color adjustments, and I also slow down clips to give a more dramatic feel. Most video editing programs like Vegas and Premiere have these kinds of adjustments. Not sure if iMovie has that kind of control since I've never used it, but I'm sure there are tutorials for color correction in iMovie. Good luck, have fun with the cam and thanks for the kind words!
Wobbles and shakes aside, I absolutely love the mood here. Simple isolated imagery and the music is great. (The American Beauty plastic bag scene is one of my alltime favorite movie scenes... :) )
I'm curious...do you envision the look and shots of the video prior and during to shooting or do you simply shoot as much footage as you want/can and then find the look you want during editing?
@GSaddict More than anything I just listen to music and feel a mood that I want to create with my clips. Then I go and try to capture scenes that fit that mood. For this there wasn't any planning, in fact I didn't even go out with shooting video in mind, but the opportunity presented itself! In the near future I hope to do an actual full music video, and that will require planning and prep.
@GoIdstin Thank you! I personally think any camera is a great starting point. I started with my dad's old Canon A70 3 megapixel point and shoot. As you grow and learn more about photography with the camera you have, you will learn what you want from a camera (slr, compact, superzoom) and you can make a more serious purchase from there. I do, however, find the GF1 very easy to use, and no one in my family is intimidated by it like they were with my Olympus SLR! Even my mom can use the GF1.

yeah Shreeb2. Really nice composition. Has a really relaxed vibe to it. You make good use of the bokeh.
Can't wait to get my hands on a f1.2
Thanks again

Excellent video. It looks extremely sharp. Did you sharpen it in post processing?

Brilliant!!! Always a fan of your videos!
I'm not even a beginner on cameras.
I've been thinking about the Panasonic GF1 for a long time, do you think it's a good camera for me? I want to start somewhere...=(
