  • Wow. If I ever get a penpal, I'm screwed.

  • random but, i like ur pen :D

  • thank god i am not korean! no offence but these letters or symbols are very very difficult i think i need 2 mins to write this word!

  • handwriting analysis is another aspect of psychology that westerns love watching - thats why crime dramas are so popular in the west. watching this video makes me wonder how koreans analyze hangul handwriting and what things can you tell about a person's personality from reading their handwriting.

  • 아이구~ ㅋㅋㅋ I could barely read the last one xD I liked the second one a lot though, it looked really pretty! My Korean handwriting is getting better, but it still looks kind of...ehhh, robotic xD Because I still have to take my time with it, even though I can write more fluidly than I did before ^^; I hope my handwriting will look prettier soon xD 감사합니다, 선생님! ^^

  • @IluvKirito Thanks!! Keep practicing!

  • LOL this is just like how my writing progresses as I get lazier... :P

  • Now I'm confused.

Hangeul was already confusing for me. Now, it's hundred times more confusing.

  • I can't find anywhere other examples of Korean writing. I don't want to write super stiff (like I'd write english letters in grade 3, all perfect) or messy, just stylistic. I'm looking for cute, edgy, scary, and beautiful characters for influence . . Personally I'd like to write cute though :P

  • Hahaha @1:43 fml.

  • sometimes it's hard to read others handwriting even though you know that language..and it is just your recognition of letters, words or characters that will be tested.. :)

  • im not korean and i only know how to read the basic "computer" letters. but when i see korean handwriting i get all confused and have NO idea what the letters are.

  • dude, that's an art

  • awesome =D ... i'm just a beginner and this kinda helps XD

    Kamsahamnida ^-^

  • When I take notes it kinda looks like your rushed one XD

  • LOL I work at a CPA office and we have a lot of Korean clients. Sometimes when I have to read the memo on checks to see what the purchase was for.. they write in Korean handwriting.. My Korean is very basic so I can never read it -.-

  • Gahhhh!! Im soooo confused X(

  • I have the same [an] how your sister in the third version XDD

    lolz c(=

    ThanKYU so much *jump*

I'm a turkish girl who lives in germany and want to write hangul and you help me sooo much.

    thx thx thx *w* ~

  • I got really confused by the 3rd one.... lol

  • wow.. i wish i could write like him..

  • This is really funny :) I enjoy your videos. Thanks for everything.Keep up the good work please.

  • 좋은 필적.... :)

  • I'm leaning Korean and having to teach myself. I could read the first two of yours and your sister's but not the 3rd. It was really nice to see two different people's handwriting. Thanks and thanks your sister too.

  • Mind if I ask what kind of pen that is? it sounds very nice to write with, I'm using a bog standard biro with no grip haha, keeps slipping out my hand when I'm writing Hangeul

  • very good--

  • thank you for your handwriting videos.

i like the most when you're very fast. it looks great from my point of view.

is there a site with more handwriting examples?

  • i want that pen:DD seriously

  • lol:DDD thats a long word to just say hello

  • 좋은일 하시네요ㅋ 배우고 갑니다~

  • Actually... what I really want to know is... what kind of pen are you using?! It writes like a DREAM! :)

  • Wow that last one is really confusing.

  • T.T I need lessons on the 3rd Korean writing. lol

  • it looked like you were writing in another language as it progressed more and more towards the lazy side.

  • lol, even my korean friends says that i have better korean handwriting than them . rofl

  • lol nice!

I think your 빨리빨리 fast 세 was the hardest to read :p

  • I've always been curious at how my Korean handwriting looks so different from the typical Korean, and this makes a lot more sense now. I was always curious where the loops came from and how it transitioned from the more computer-esque style. Thanks so much! This was rather enlightening. :)

  • awesome thank you! i want to see more of what normal written hangul looks like instead of perfect stuff you can see on computer.....More video please....

  • wow it will take me hmmm...about 4 to 5 years to be tht fast at writing korean (i hope not)!! i write the computer version..>_<

감사합니다 for uploading this video!! ^^

  • 태권도

  • Thanks for your help! It's hard to read other Koreans' handwriting, especially when you've practiced Korean with Western calligraphy for the most part. 고맙습니다!

  • Wow! Really cool.

Thank you for the videos, I really learned a lot from your site. Your Mp3s make me laugh ^^

Oh, and I also love the logo! It is really powerful and it speaks to you. I love it!

  • wow never seen a person wrties 안 like you :)

  • waa im jealous... ur so fast .. :(

  • OMG LIKE I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE LAST VERSION LOL but thanks this helps a lot!

  • Very nice video. I like how you started off neat and then went messy. It shows us how messy Korean handwriting can look. Very useful:)

  • your 하세 super fast looks like fml 1:42

  • Beautiful!!! thanks a lot

  • The way you write the characters (the order), some of them are different from the way I've learnt from other tutorial videos. I am thinking of writing chinese characters that they should be written in correct orders. I was wondering if this applies as well in korean writing or one can write the characters in whatever orders one thinks convenient :-). Thank you.

  • how can i type my hangul in my keyboard??

  • kamsahamnida!!!

  • very useful video :)

but maybe you make new version with "styles" of different people ?

    any write kind different ;]

    Regards

  • Wow that's super awesome bro! I wish I could know korean (:

  • kamsahamnida.

  • @cOLiLLai You're welcome ^_^

  • this is really helpful

but i coulnd't read the 3rd version XDD the first 2 were readable XD

  • @ShokoMakii Hehe. Thanks for watching! :)

  • @ShokoMakii The third version, I think, is a bit more on the cursive side. Korean cursive is... a mess.

  • Even though you write it in hurry, it's still look nice~ ^ ^

Your video was so good, I learned so many from you...

    Kamsahamnida~~~

  • @freakyshooterz Thanks a lot ^_^!!

  • @ever4one

    You're welcome ^^

  • when you're really

really REALLY!! in a hurry just write 안녕. lol just kidding

  • haha the last handwriting has this thing that looks like fml

  • does it say ever4one?

  • Are you the same guy that does the 'talk to me in Korean' podcasts on iTunes? If so, you've helped me sooo much, you're awesome!

  • @jemmanola Yes, I am :) thanks for listening to my lessons!! :)

  • I'm learning korean, actually im learning the alphabet, and i could barely distinguish your 세, i guess people write sloppy in all languages :P, I sometimes can't even read what write myself xD.

  • @HASHlRAMA Yeah Korean handwriting can be very crazy at times XD

  • ppfff you went like 80 miles per hour when you wrote when you werent in a hurry lol

  • very cool!

  • I like your pen ♥ and thanks for this~

  • 요 ..is gone ..xD .. it was cool .. slowly my korean writing is changing too without my own knowledge .. ㅋㅋㅋ lol

  • wow... i feel like being in 1st grade again and asking my nanny what do the words in cursive say XD

this video answered what i was wondering about: do the characters have to be perfectly written so that people can understand them? but i guess not, judging on your last one.

    lol!

  • i love the rough writing. looks more natural...xDD

the first one is so stiff!! xDD

but i write both ways when practising. i think its much easier when you can read and write hangul first. ^O^

    thanks~

  • A little helpful, but not much. I can read computer printed Korean, but Koreans make totally different shapes when writing by hand and I have no idea how to interpret those totally different shapes. How do we learn how to read the handwritten forms. I don't see any relation to how it's printed on the computer and what people actually write by hand. I'm teaching in Korea and they just assume I can read their writing.

  • @Mystefier it's just practice. I know that people still have trouble reading different writings of other people no matter what language it is, and I think since you're probably an english teacher in korea you'll understand this. (like you can't read your friends handwritings perfectly all the time if they're a messy writer) it just takes time and practice. just borrow hand written notes from your korean student and try to read them that way

  • I cant even write korean..im jealous.i can only write thai and english

  • i love your voice.. its cute!! ^^ btw.. your video is great, now i know how to write annyeong haseyo.. haha! kamsahamnida chingu!!! Hahaha.. LOL! dont know what im saying.. ^^

  • omfg. the 3rd versions are illegible OTL

  • wow, this is great. I was wondering how peoples' handwriting looks in south korea.

what do you recommend to improve handwriting in korean? thanx

  • woah.. i can't read what you hurriedly wrote..it looks gibberish, hehehe.. well, i'm still learning,. gotta learn how to read that kind of handwriting... :)

  • (plus I like the way you say "pretty". It's cute.

  • Wow. I i hadn't watched you write it three times, I wouldn't have been able to read the third one at all. I never thought of the fact that handwriting would be so much different. But i guess the same goes for english.

Whoa... I'm going to have to start studying handwriting too. ^_^

  • ;; 글씨 잘쓴담;; 부럽;;

  • Hangul is the best Alphabet!

  • omg on your third version of 안녕하세요 I was so confuzzled I could not read it at all

  • Aww, yay thank you!

    I've been wondering about this .. :)

The way my friends write get me sooo confused.

    I can't even tell what they're writing anymore~~

I only recently learned the aplhabet haha ^^

    Thank you so much~~

I will improve my handwriting now .. :)

  • Probably a weird question, but what kind of pen is that? I really want it.

  • @DallasisaLeo Not a weird question, I've been wondering that myself. I love smooth writing pens :)

  • lol korean cursive.

  • lol the last part i was like wtf?? that not even a yo.. thats ike a yyyyy..... (die)

  • I always thought that asian people were just neat. The exchange students from asia at my school write so neat. Now I realised that it was from learning from a computer or whatever. Becasue my Korean is the same. I have to admit really really neat. Unlike writing in English.

  • haha, cute

  • girl handwriting better! lol

i always wondered how korean handwriting looked like. haha i was always like "wouldn't it take a long time to write anything?"

well.. not really since im pretty slow at writing english myself.. lol

    thanks for the video! XD

  • Can you help me write my name in Korean handwriting because i am a chinese and i live in USA. I tried to learn korean languages and other foreign languages. If you can help me write my name i very glad and thank a lot. My name Kong Pheng.

  • 존경합니다 ㅋㅋ

  • this is too dificult

  • 안녕하세요 what happen to your 요? looks like a cock. LOL

  • Hahahaha :D

  • whoa i dont know what kind of cock uve been looking at but ...

  • @KimMyungDae LMFAO!

  • this helped ~ ty!

  • and actually, the korean letter ㅂ is the most difficult thing to write down.

  • You know any word that has this I always make look messy. So sad :S

  • good hand writing kk

  • hey.. thanks ;)

  • 5 stars also nice pen what is it?

  • Maybe a black Uni-ball Signo DX pen. :)

  • wow, 5 stars for you n the vid, im learning Korean now, n my handwriting looks like textbook font -_- n i nearly cant read others' handwriting, soooo difficult :(( Thanks so much, this s so help full muaaaah !!!!

  • 안녕하세요 ^ㅡ^

  • AWESOME! this is a great idea and it's actually very helpful =] thank you so much for this, you're awesome!

  • if you are not familiar to handwritings and just read hangeul on computer screen, it is pretty much difficult to read what it is

  • Interesting :) So can everybody read the 'really big hurry' versions? They look quite different from the computer font to me :)

  • is it like the difference of an "a like, i dont put the hoop on top of it. or an A i dont make it so pointy"

  • wow very nice video! btw what pen is that?! its very nice

  • very nice vid

for me, it's almost impossible to read the word when you write it in hurry linking everything together lol

  • These are so great! Can you make some more? That last one from both you and your sister is indecipherable to me :P haha maybe one day I'll get the hang of it.

  • thanks ;) I will try to make more!

  • thanks for the video... i'm learning korean atm.. it's so hard. :(

  • thanks for the comment! :) Keep practicing!

  • @pentozz i know, right?

  • heey! what kind of pen do you use? :)

  • I have serious difficulties in read fast-written hangul T.T, thanks for video

  • thanks a lot for the comment ^^

  • Reading Korean, when written in a rush, is so painful for me. Sometimes I run into the same problem with my own mother tongue.^^

  • UNU HASI YU ..?

    lol

    ^_^

    thanks man ...

  • hehe . thanks for the comment!

  • Ahhhh I am so happy for computers with clean korean fonts to make learning so much easier. Thanks for this video, one day maybe I can read the 'very fast' version without knowing what it says ahead of time... But that is a ways off!

  • damn I wanna learn korean

  • yoooo when i write in korean, it goes outside the margins cuz it turns out big, i start it out small and becomes big somehow.... -_-

  • Jeez, if I were to see that writing id probably start crying and between sobs, ask them to write it slowly and hope they dont punch me out xD

  • interesting...

  • Interesting video :D

korean words sure is fun and interesting to write and speak huh :D

Would you mind adding me in facebook account?

    Gamsahanida :D

  • Yayy this is so cool :]

I'm glad you took time to go over this, cause I wouldn't know where else to find something like this, but it's definitely important.

& woww at the last few lol. That's pretty confusing looking for me as a foreigner, but it's a lot better than trying to read sloppy English writing haa. I just hope I won't run into any mean Koreans that will make me read their hurried writing hehe :D

    Good work as always, Hyunwoo-ssi!

  • artistic my friend :-)

  • any plan to debut your sister voice? :P

  • ハングルの崩した書き方を知りたかったです。

    勉強になりました。:)

  • this is random but do you have a facebook account? lol

  • haha I do! I'll send u a message!

  • Great video! My Korean handwriting still looks like a computer font ^^ I really like the way it looks, but I guess it seems a bit unnatural. I even follow the stroke orders instead of using shortcuts, haha. Hopefully I become a bit more natural with more practice. The third handwriting example was a bit hard to understand, but I never get to see handwriting that much. That would be something cool to add to Korean Class 101 :)

  • aww so cute little sister!

  • That was awesome.

A friend of mine lent me a book for college. When I opened it, I saw there were a lot of notes that I couldn't understand. After a few tries I figured it out, it was ALL IN KOREAN :O (my friend is not Korean). So, that was the first time I saw korean handwriting and was really surprised (since I study it at the computer).

For the curious, yes, my friend (Portuguese) bought that book online (used),and the previous owner was a korean college student in USA. What are the ODDS?

  • Hahaha.

    You're writing is crazy!

I couldn't even read the last one.

Guess I have to practice "Korean Chicken scratch" too, huh? kkkkk

  • wow wonderful

i have a video for me arabic but i haven't posted it maybe i don't like posted ahah maybe not wonderful as your sun

    gumapseumnida chingu

  • 感謝hab-ni-da!

  • :) 安寧하세요.

  • hahaha! now i understand why my chinese friends can never tell my english handwriting.

and i think your speed version of "an" is so cool =)

  • haha I like how it's written too! ;)

  • 감사합니다. ^_^

  • 네 ^^!!

  • this is really useful.. coz when i first started learning korean, i really thought that i should follow exactly how korean characters are written in books... gosh.. i was so babo back then. ^^ but now, i even have my own style. cool.....

  • its the same as asking a elementary school kid to decipher the handwriting of a senior high school student in an exam.

even if the sentence was very simple, he probably wouldnt be able to read it..

  • Thanks for the comment, and yeah - you eventually develop your own style after writing a lot :) which is really good!

  • Your handwriting when you're in a hurry (version 1) is nice. It can be adapted as a font style on my phone. ㅎㅎㅎ

Starting from 1:26 and beyond, it's very hard to identify the characters. My technique is to imagine the strokes then try to follow it the way the characters were written, and this technique makes reading kinda slow.. Or perhaps really slow. Lol.

and the 합니다 is just awesome! ㅋㅋㅋ

  • Thanks ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ

  • Oh my god. I am so glad you don't write that last one to me, or I'd really never be able to understand it!

I actually really like the second one, but I can't seem to write like that xD; and I often have trouble reading it, though I guess with practice it would get easier!

  • ㅋㅋㅋ next time I write to you, let's give it a try! haha

  • It's hard to understand cursive handwriting -_-

  • 맞아요 ... ^^

  • In the same manner that English written in longhand is harder to read than that written in print, it's also more difficult to understand the longhand counterpart of Hangul. I guess it takes a lot of familiarity with the strokes.

  • That's true ^_^!! It took me a long time to finally be able to read handwritten English^^
