If it's so "entirely original," why the need to usurp another creator's work? Because all the hard work was already done by Dahl. No need to think up characters, settings, plots; no need to sell this story and prove it's a successful formula--it's all there for the pillaging! Good luck explaining Anderson's next rampage through literature wherein he "adapts" Charlotte's Web, turning Charlotte into a DJ and Wilbur into a dancing pig who has a win a barnyard DDR championship to save his bacon!

I didn't say it's "original", but rather, an "original take on a classic".. My point is that the book still exists in it's original form every bit as much as it did before the movie, so despite your implication that something has been lost, nothing has. A pretty cool looking movie has been gained though. That's a problem?

If that version of Charlottes Web were actually made, I would pre-order it on DVD because it sounds excellent. I think you're on to something here and should run with it.

FAIL! Excuse me, but Roald Dahl's "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" is one of the most beautiful pieces of literature ever written--for children OR adults--and I see NONE of his actual story in this trailer. What a bunch of fucking bullshit. I HATE Hollywood for doing this. They can suck Roald Dahl's cock. (They already fucked him in the ass!)

The making of this movie in no way affects the original Roald Dahl book. If you go down to the book store and pick up a copy after you see this movie, I think you will be pleased to find that it is still the same great book as it was before.

You're right, this movie doesn't affect me, chiefly because I refuse to see it (No book purchases necessary. I still have my copy), but it absolutely DOES affect the story experience for people who've never read the book and who will experience these characters and this story through Anderson for the first time rather than Dahl.

Nobody who doesn't read the book by Roald Dahl will ever experience the characters and story contained within as laid out by Roald Dahl -- sorry, but that's just the way that works.

The true tragedy would be if "Hollywood" decided to make a movie based exactly on this book, thus eliminating the need for any imagination for potential readers. Instead, this is a creative, lively, and entirely original take on a classic. For once, "Hollywood" is doing it right.

How much do I love these trailers! It looks like Anderson's sense of humor is as squirrelly as ever, yet somehow more accessible in this film. Schwartzmann is special. Owen W. as coach, hehehh! Wes Anderson has said that he hopes he never has to make a film without Wilson and he's right.
