  • 2:52 - Side wall diminished the ground effect and Gilles lost traction on the left side of the car, spinning immediately.

  • Was this the one that John Watson over-take everyone from 13th to 1st?

  • 1:56 and 2:48 tells it all !!

  • Today's rules promote aerodynamic downforce for extreme cornering speeds. But boring. Relatively little mechanical grip, otherwise known as sticktion. That's why F1 rain races are interesting, because all the track is slippery and equally useable instead of just a dry track's feasible racing line through an impossible marble field. NASCAR and Indy are just as fast at top speed and dice the track bumper to bumper and door to door. F1 needs a new direction. Ban Adrian Newey.

  • Gilles, eterno herói Ferrarista!

  • strange rear wing on the Ferrari....

  • Ferrari was 30 km/h faster then williams ... ahhaha

  • Incredible cars

  • 3:42 what balls! Only Gilles would be brave enough to do that. If only Gilles, in 1982, had finished in Sth Africa (say 3rd), finished in Brazil (that would`ve been 1st), not dsq in this race (3rd), not been dudded in Imola (1st), and had not been rattled in Belgium...-daz in oz

  • Keke Rosberg is the most underrated F1 driver of all time. I rank him right up there in the "Impossible Monster" category with the likes of Senna, Villeneuve and Peterson.

  • Two incredible drivers battling at a great track. This Ferrari is really powerful by the way!

  • Wonderful racing, a reminder of what could have been.

  • Villeneuve was crazy lol

    But incredible!!!

  • I miss Long Beach & the drivers of that era.

  • Ferrari's rear wing looks very weird...

  • @PanosDCC this rear wing was not approved by the FIA. And it will be never race again.

  • Jacques vs Nico? Or would it look too much like Nico vs Michael, a young punk in his prime driving around an old man?

  • How much different was the CART course of the late 80's?

  • Comment removed

  • Gilles, ALWAYS racing on the edge. His Ferraris were notoriously bad handlers and often breaking problems. What a daring move on the outside....

  • That Ferrari looks so epic.

  • You can see that Vileneuve´s driving is a little bit different than Rosbergs. Hes a little bit more agressive and riskie.

But it´s nice to see these old F1-cars from a time where technologie wasn´t im that final stage like today.

Today, the biggest difference between the cars are the colour and the sponsoring.

  • Back when Formula 1 drivers drove with big giant balls. Today's current crop of F1 pansies couldn't last against them. Now today everytime I heard world greatest drivers race in F1 I just roll my eyes.

  • ...Whaou !!! J'admire la puissance fénoménale du Turbo de la Ferrari qui dépose litéralement la Williams à chaque ligne droite ! ...et puis Gilles Villeneuve, quel pilotage, toujours en glisse !!! ;-)

  • F1 Died since Brazil 2006

  • @poussyledzep

Half of F1 died with Villeneuve, the other half with Senna.

  • @SuperColossal33 What about Hakkinen? His battles with Schumacher were just fantastic back in the late 90s and early 2000s.

  • @SuperColossal33

absolutely! 70's-80's; Rosberg, Villenueve, Arnoux..... 80's-90's; Senna, Prost, Piquet, Patrese, Mansell..... absolute racers! Been dead boring since with a few highlights

  • Respond to this video... Great video, thanks. Good to see some multiple overtaking again (and in the same lap!). Keke & Giles, both amazing racers. THIS is F1 as it SHOULD be. The pinnacle of motorsport.

  • @SuperColossal33 Poor Gilles, the chassis was Ferrari gave a shit. Look at that dble spoiler, this car shit do not bend. Villeneuve could only manage.

Pobre Gilles, los chasis que le daba Ferrari eran una mierda. Miren ese dble aleron, ese auto de mierda no doblaba. Solo Villeneuve lo podia manejar.

  • @LuisValenti2001 the Ferrari of 82 was a superb car, probably the best on the grid

  • @hugodrax71 It's the truth that year, the car 126C2 was one of the best. But keep in mind that the Ferraris were disqualified that day by the shameful ailerons. The chassis was much improved after the sad career of Belgium.

  • @poussyledzep F1 died in Belgium Qualify 1982 :( RIP Gilles.

  • @poussyledzep F1 revive after Brazil 2006

  • @Ayner5 You mean after Schumacher first retirement form F1?...

  • Modern F1 needs huge wing reductions, fatter tyres and more power, that's the only way exciting racing can return.

  • I still watch F1, but it stopped being good after Senna's death. But Hamilton's number of overtakes in the past couple seasons with a crappy car have been pretty good to watch.

  • Actually, F1 died on May 1st 1994. It's never been interesting since.

  • Yeah. F1 needs more retirements, nowadays the cars are too reliable. For example Lewis Hamilton suffered his first retirement for mechanical failure in his 52nd Grand Prix!

  • interesting rear wing on villeneuves ferrari

  • Yep, interesting, but didn't pass inspection- he was disqualified.

  • i think F1 died in 1998 with no slick tires and too much aerodynamic gimmicks. the drivers are driven by the car since then because the ground effect is way too strong. The car sticks to the road like an arcade videogame but when you loose it, you can't take it back because the chassis is much more narrow than the old days.. so it's kind of boring to watch for those who saw these legends back then.

  • @kicknetik well let's hope f1 will successfully return to the old times! pirelli tires, no refueling, no double diffuser slick tires and the wings are getting simplier as well.

  • @kicknetik I tend to agree with you, however i think the biggest part of it died in 1994 at San Marino,..

  • Yeah, because 2007 and 2008 were really boring seasons. Oh wait....

  • Not talking about the fact it were close seasons, but about too much regulations, too much winglets, annd too much drama.

  • In my opinion, 2008 was one of the most interesting seasons I've ever seen. Maybe it's because I'm watching F1 since 1999.

  • @f1junkie08 In comparison to anything in the seventies, eighties, and early nineties, yes.

  • @f1junkie08 They were.

  • When F1 was actually interesting, F1 died when 2007 started.
