  • sounds like it was being run under-pressured, or the steam was too saturated, or something. Sounds more like a Class J tugboat whistle.

  • Not bad, I know a guy who made a hooter whistle from a piece of a tail pipe (I think) and sounds just like the Norfolk and Western Hooters.

  • usa whistles hurt my ears :L

  • Hello all that was my Hooter a all brass N&W and the squeak is normal just needed a tune up thanks Matt

  • sounds like in poor condition

  • Sounds like somebody walked up behind it and tweaked its *ss.

  • If it squeks, its got a tweak. Needs some work done to it. Shouldnt be squeking.

  • WWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - - - - -SQUEEAAK!!!!!!!!!! (my description of the hooter whistle)

  • THAT is how Reading 2102 SHOULD sound-- hooter but with an AUTHORITATIVE tone to it. The Reading hooter to me sounds too small and too European.

    Just my opinion.

  • I love those N&W Hooters. I like that squeak too!

  • Was that on shay 2 and 5 last year at cass?

  • Well, it sounds about the same but, the one on #2 and #5 last year was a home-made one, made by Grady Smith.

  • @GHOSTCOP5 same!
