Ahh, I'm so excited to buy the XCharger for the (hopefully) soon to be mine 2006 Mustang V6 I'm looking at. I don't get all the hate directed at those of us interested in modding V6 Mustangs. As others have said and I'll say again, I'm a young male and my insurance is insane as a rule, so I would rather buy a car I can actually afford to pay for. It's not like I wouldn't love a new 5.0, but I'm still looking forward to bettering my developing mechanical skills on a nice car like this.
I have an 07 V6 and starting to get into mods. Thanks to deployments and no kids, I paid the balance off of it. Im looking to get an 08 gt 500. Test drove the newer ones but for the money, I think ill just mod a slighter older one
Yeah guys you're not getting it. It's all relative; modding. It's a hobby, it's an enthusiasts play thing. I have a 2007 V6 and have had a blast bolting upgrades too it. Because I started with a V6, my initial buy-in was cheaper. I know guys that buy M3s and dump 18k in mods on them. It's all relative. For most it's not about "beating a GT" at all. It's the process of making something better and feeling/experiencing/hearing the results.
I don't see why people always hate on us v6 guys. Sure I would love a v8 Mustang, but I'm only 18. I saved for a year and paid the $14,000 price tag for my '07 v6. My insurance it $4,500 a year..no joke.So I can't imagine how much the insurance on a GT would be for me! lol
So if a GT was only $22-24k at the dealership in my area and my insurance was ~$1,200 a year for a 24 year old male how its it better to buy a V6 and upgrade it to something that can marginally keep up with a GT? I actually, purchased the Premium Ford ESP for the car & extended the warranty until it expired last February (that cost me ~$1000).
No offense Spartan19069, but sometimes its just better and cheaper to start with a better platform right off the bat.
Where in the hell did you buy your V6? I bought my 06 GT for literally $17k in 2008 with 25k miles and it was flawless. Granted, this was via a private transaction; yet, the same car was going for ~$22-24k. Given this I fail to see your "purchase savings." Insurance is completely variable based on your age, sex, or location, but being a 24 year at time of purchase the car I was looking at ~$1,200 per year for full coverage. Where do you get $2k??
Thats one thing I don't get with V6 owners that heavily mod them where they say, "Oh, I pay less for insurance, get better fuel economy, & can beat a GT"
The second you put 7 PSI of boost in the 4.6L 3V you are at ~500+ hp. Game over for the V6 at this point.
Just start w/ a GT or GT500 right off the bat. I'm sorry but doing a rear end swap, adding a blower, exhaust, & etc. just to keep up w/ a GT will cost more for parts/labor in the long run & at the end of the day its still just a V6.
yea less for insurance, about $2,000 cheaper, far better gas millage. and cheaper to buy.
when i got my V6 stang brand new ( it already had the 8.8 rear end, and duel exaust, and a possi 3:55 )
costed 24k out the door, also came with the upgraded sound system, leather and ford racing cold air intake.
to buy z GT with the same shit was close to 31k ... so thats a 7k diffrence + nearly 2k for my stupid insurance company. so yes its very much worth charging a V6
So let me get this straight. You are installing a Mustang GT body kit that may or not be new takeoff prepainted. To balance the look of the rear you'll need to install a dual exhaust system. Next, you are going to spend $4,500 for the X-charger plus install if you don't do it yourself.
At this point for parts you are at ~$6,000 not including labor/paint if you can't do it yourself.
Unless you like being THAT different & pissing away money to almost or barely beat a Mustang GT?
@syvrin its because modding your car is fun! :) and instead of getting a gt and not having enough money left over to do anything with it and then youre done. But if you get a v6 and save a couple grand you can spend it on the mods that you want and after installing yourself you learn and grow with your car and it really becomes your baby :) aaaaand it is cheaper on insurance and better fuel economy
270 Rear wheel HP is about 320-340 Crank HP. My GT is 386 HP to the rear wheels non supercharged, it will take this supercharged V6 :) I take the new Hemi Challengers. The new Camaro's give me a good run.
@antmantkant Never raced a boss 302. I have raced a new 5.0 and lost by .2 of a second 1/4 mile. I can take the new Camaros and Challengers. The Challenger is wayy to heavy. I'll be looking at around 400 HP soon with the correct tune. Thats another 14 HP, I may keep up with the new 5.0 :)
@clboy35 Hp isnt everything in a car you know that right? weight-hp-aerodynamics-suspencion everything makes a diference and while a v8 is heavier than a v6 271hp-less weight to 300-hevier weight, less weight wins easily
@Justise77 yes i do know that HP isnt everything but when u compare the weight. the gt is only 100 or so pounds more and in addition with a few bolt ons such as air filter, spark plugs, and wire set.... hell even put some octane booster in the gas and when that gt goes against the v6 in this video yeah it may be close but the gt wins 9 out of 10
@clboy3e5 no, the 271 is the measure to the whels. dyno's only measure rear wheel horsepower. this is the non intercooled x charger as well. the new intercooled one one puts out over 300hp to the wheels for the v6.
I have a 2008 v6 mustang it was fast without the supercharger but once I instaled it made a very big difference, now I can laugh to a guy with a gt lol
would this work on an automatic ? or do i have to have a customized gear for the car ? you might tell me to get a manual but i never did good with manual cars.
Hard to buy this crap, I noticed that the 360 HSP expectation resulted in 271 hsp to the rear wheels but what is more sceptic is the 2nd dyno shows a car with GT fog lights and duel exhaust with GT valance not available on the bone stock v6
@RednekDude15 thats the thing. i like my v6. its fun to drive. you would know if u drive one. btw v6 mustang are worth tuning up. gt killa brah. true story
Bamachips is a joke because i ordered a chip from mr. studdard and in his infinite wisdom after four weeks never got it and had to fight with the credit card company inorder to get the money back from the creep. DO NOT BUY ANTHYING FROM BAMA CHIPS OR DOUG STUDDARD OR ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH HIM.
So remind me again how this is a GT killer??? its only 271bhp and 276ftlbs.... A bone stock GT is 289bhp and 310ftlbs. and dont say it would win because the v6 is lighter. its not going to make any difference when the V8 has over 300ftlbs torque, plus the gt wont have any kind of lag like you would get from a V6 with a charger. So if you think about it this car just ended up costing more then a stock GT.
@adogg619 ya i was also wrong on the gt having 289bhp. its also rwhp. i've got an S281 non charged and im putting down 320rwhp. only diffrents from it and a stock gt is an intake/ plentum, and a louder muffler. Oh and the side badges..lol.
I would love to see a procharged v6 take me on. maybe the new 2011 v6 with 305hp, but i still dont think that would do it ether.
haha i love how @ 3:35 they say "we know our v6 will be pushing 340+ horsepower". and then @ 4:23 whats the horsepower rating on the dyno? only 271.. what happened guys?
No that's not right. If you get 340 to the crank but only about 270 to the wheels then something is wrong. You should only have about a 15% power decrease. My Mach 1 gets 315 to the crank but about 285 or so to the wheels.
@FullThrottleStangs04 yeah, the narrator and some of the facts they throw out are absolute b/s, a lot of theatrics, but you could, in all probability pull over 350 with a smaller puller, better intake and higher octane tune and fuel
@FullThrottleStangs04 the guy said the engine would produce 340+ horsepower and it probably did the dyno just showed that only 270 horses made it to the wheel. The car probably is making 340 BHp.
@FullThrottleStangs04 All cars have lower then advertised HP at the wheel because makers measure them at the flywheel. The Bugatti Veyron has 1000 HP at the flywheel, but it likely gets about 800 at the wheel.
hmmmm considering a procharger is a supercharger ;-P just saying.....and no turbos definetly are not pwned by any supercharger 90% of all turbos give u more hp at the same boost level.....granted im not saying the best supercharger is gonna be beat by a cheap turbo but i mean quality to quality
well you can get a v6 version of the GT foglamps but they replaced the front grill and they replaced the rear bumper to make it a GT clone but faster than any GT out there
well to be honest, gas mileage REALLY aint that much difference. i've done the same thing here and have pretty much the same mpg rate really. . .
that is..... if i dont set the beast loose lol. shift at 3-3.5k rpm and well the MPG seems to stay close to stock. but open that SC up and well, difference story lol.
hmm, I thought the GT came with an aluminum block as opposed to an iron block in the v6, and was at 305-310 hp. so I don't think this is actualy a GT killer but it surely has the potental to be one. do correct me if I'm wrong, it's still a kick ass car though.
you also gotta consider the fact that the v6 is lighter, and the torque band is completely different when your talking forced induction. it may have similer hp numbers but the kick off the line is gonna kill a stock gt
As long as you have the 4.0L SOHC this system will fit on your mustang, ranger, explorer, whatever!
I am drooling at this right now, and can't wait to get my own
BTW I have personally dealt with both Explorer Express and Doug @ Bama Chips and would recommend them to anybody looking for performance products.
Doug is an extremely reliable guy, very intune with what his customers are looking for. And if you run into any problems or questions, he seems to have the answer for anything!
i dont think theres an x-charger for that model go to supersixmotorsports they have a manifold that adapts the eaton m112 off the 04 cobra to your car
Not necessarily. If you are rodding it day in and day out, then yes you will significantly reduce the lifespan of your engine and drivetrain.
Believe it or not, if you do highway driving, and can stay in a negative boost condition (-10 -> 0 psi of boost) you will see a significant increase in fuel mileage, PROVIDED you can stay out of the positive boost, after owning a supercharged SSEi, i know its nearly impossible not to use the power that you have at your disposal.
No unfortunately Dave does not offer Superchargers for the Camaro. He only specializes in Mustangs and Explorers. But if you give him a call, he might be able to direct you to the right place.
@xskullkingx09 There are TONS of Camaro Supercharger and a Turbochargers..Now a Roots Style Blower(The one in this vid) I'm not sure about but you can definatly get a Centri Blower for it.
sweet video, plz check out my video of my mustang, plz comment and suggest what i should get for my mustang, im lookin to get a supercharge, like the Xcharger. thanks-

justa4banger2008 2 years ago
superchargers own turbos on a drag strip, the turbo has a higher top end

If you were paying attention, They already said they put the GT body panels on the car. You'd be suprised how much the little 4.0 can breathe...

ok i have a problem. why does this " V6" HAVE THE GT FOG LAMPS and DUAL EXHAUST!!
Fishy if you ask me. Unless you cut out a 2nd exhaust tip and switched the grill
comiskeybum 2 years ago
umm, gt body kit....she says so...go ahead and watch again:D
shibeth400 2 years ago 4
well you can get a v6 version of the GT foglamps but they replaced the front grill and they replaced the rear bumper to make it a GT clone but faster than any GT out there
skyeonfire 2 years ago
I believe you could also get an 03/04 svt cobra eaton supercharger and get a V6 kit and put it on there
s3anx07 3 years ago
how much does one of those superchargers cost?
alexvrce 3 years ago
the cost for the whole kit is about $4,400

how about gast? does it eat more gas ?
vatossan 3 years ago
lol, most people who put a supercharger on thier car arnt worried much about gas millage
Thelona 2 years ago 2
well to be honest, gas mileage REALLY aint that much difference. i've done the same thing here and have pretty much the same mpg rate really. . .
that is..... if i dont set the beast loose lol. shift at 3-3.5k rpm and well the MPG seems to stay close to stock. but open that SC up and well, difference story lol.
all depends on how u drive it. lol
JT18260 2 years ago
hmm, I thought the GT came with an aluminum block as opposed to an iron block in the v6, and was at 305-310 hp. so I don't think this is actualy a GT killer but it surely has the potental to be one. do correct me if I'm wrong, it's still a kick ass car though.
metallmayhem 3 years ago
you also gotta consider the fact that the v6 is lighter, and the torque band is completely different when your talking forced induction. it may have similer hp numbers but the kick off the line is gonna kill a stock gt

how much is one of those beastly superchargers?
ilolatnoobslikeyou 3 years ago
would this work for a 3.8L 99 mustang??
welchrob09 3 years ago
nope, you're better off going for an ATI Procharger kit. They run about $4000+ supporting mods.

would it work for a 1994 mustang v6?
Xmotos01 3 years ago

does he have any for a 2000 v6 mustang?? and i would have to upgrade other parts if i wanted this?? like what? somebody plz reply thanks

And if you run into any problems or questions, he seems to have the answer for anything!

there are differant options for your 2000 such as Vortech and others.
oxcide101 3 years ago
i dont think theres an x-charger for that model go to supersixmotorsports they have a manifold that adapts the eaton m112 off the 04 cobra to your car
leadfoot210 3 years ago
what setup of gears would work better between 3.73-4.10
leadfoot210 3 years ago
Wow! Does he make a kit for the 3.5 V-6 Chrysler 300?
cjmyers505 3 years ago
no just explorers and mustangs but vortech or procharger might have one for the chrysler
leadfoot210 3 years ago
is it true that its not smart to put xchargers on mustangs over 50,000 miles?
and also doesnt this reduce the life of ur car?
crzypballer101 3 years ago
Not necessarily. If you are rodding it day in and day out, then yes you will significantly reduce the lifespan of your engine and drivetrain.
Believe it or not, if you do highway driving, and can stay in a negative boost condition (-10 -> 0 psi of boost) you will see a significant increase in fuel mileage, PROVIDED you can stay out of the positive boost, after owning a supercharged SSEi, i know its nearly impossible not to use the power that you have at your disposal.
mattmatt115 3 years ago
would that fit in a 98 camaro or is it only for mustangs and f-150s?
xskullkingx09 3 years ago
This XCharger is only for Mustangs.
StangTV 3 years ago
No unfortunately Dave does not offer Superchargers for the Camaro. He only specializes in Mustangs and Explorers. But if you give him a call, he might be able to direct you to the right place.
