  • As an FX guy, whenever I see miniature cities like this, all I can think about (Besides how beautiful it is) is how awesome it would be to film some natural disaster effect with it. Just imagine, creating a simulated asteroid impact, with some huge (in mini terms) explosion going off, knocking the buildings all around! All filmed really slowly, with a super deep DOF lens, so it looks realistic. And adding little CGI people running around on the streets!

  • @PowerOfMontage Cool. Some stunning models at Madurodam :-)

  • @PowerOfMontage it wouldn't work quite as expected though, because inertial forces and gravity don't scale down linearly with the size of the miniatures. You'd notice immediately that's it's toys flying around, and miniature buildings knocking about. (you also see this in pre-CGI films). For example, think about toy cars colliding versus an actual car crash.

  • Madurodam - the only place in the world where trucks don´t overtake on highways :-)

  • @SuperBoris81 LOL!! Indeedy :-)

  • I went there before I'm dutch but it is still cool to visit it, were are you from?

    greetings from holland

  • @MrPankacke Yes it's a cool place to visit. The Uk. Cheers.

  • beautiful i LOve it

  • @czechivan Well worth the visit. Would like to return & do a night shoot at some point. Cheers.

  • fantastic.been twice.very interesting.

  • Thank you. I'm hoping to return soon some time over the next couple of years. cheers.

  • never heard about this before... looks really kool. how big is it? a football field?

  • I think around about about that size or a little bigger i guess. If you can, well worth the trip. I'd love to return & do one of the night time openings. I think it'll look even more amazing all lit up in the dark. For more info click on the link in the info box on the right. Regards & cheers.

  • I used to live on a British army base in Germany and would pop to Holland quite alot and have stayed there too, so this really appeals to me. The level of detail is fantasic, such a beautiful country and just very pleasent is Holland.

  • Very much so, & so much to see too :-) Many thanks & kind regards.

  • Yes! I agree, last year I stayed in Durinell, not far from Lieden and Den Haag. That area was very beautiful. The way the counrty is run and the people make it a wonderful place! :) you too!

  • If funds allow, i'd like to return next year but will have to see. Great country, Cheers.

  • wat if itz raining or lightning?

  • While we was there, it really did start to rain quite heavily. Every thing carried on operating as normal. The rain didn't seem to cause any problems at all. Now lightning that's a different matter.....

  • Great video mate. Good shots and the music fits well 5*

  • Many thanks mate.Hope you get chance to visit it sometime.Well worth the trip. Cheers.

  • Great video with wunderful scenery, thank you and best wishes !!

    5*

  • Many thanks, regards.

  • They've designed it to withstand the weather etc, mind you some of the buildings are worth a fortune. Reckon this is a must to go back & film at some point. the railway is massive. Wonder how long it took to build?? Cheers.

  • Cool, take plenty of video for your channel.Cheers.

  • wow! beats beaconscot!!!

  • Beconscot is good, but Madurodam is in a different class all together.Hope your able to go some time. Cheers.

  • cool! is like a o guage layout! my dad and i where making a godsprings project, right by that bar on movies.have you seen the movies?

  • Not sure.

  • @willandscabbers It's actually quite a bit larger. O gauge scale is 1:43,5. The Madurodam trains and tracks are 1:25. Total length of all tracks combined is a stunning three miles+ and the arerage distance covered per train/year is 10.000 m.

  • a real challenge would be to do something like that but for the uk

maybe with a miniaturre angle of the north and bt tower for example

uk would certainly be more difficult

  • I've seen a video of Legoland in the UK, & they've seemed to have done a good job of modelling some of UK's well known land marks. Be nice though if some one could do something like Madurodam here in the UK. Cheers.

  • Great Video mate 5* LOOKS Amaxing !!

  • Thank you.Well worth the trip, cheers.

  • I have an illustrated brochure/booklet about this 'city' from early 80s. Amazing how they've updated ALL the vehicle models!

Also, I've always admired the hard maintenance work that must be performed to keep the city so clean and shiny all the time.

Many thanks for sharing this video!

  • Yes, I was very impressed on well kept & tidy Madurodam is. I'm hoping to go back in the next few years. Cheers.
