  • any idea where i can get a rear axle or how to rebuild the brake disc splines

  • @FIATF130DT you would be better off finding a used axle with good splines or if you really cant find one you can take it to a good machine shop that can fill it in with weld and cut new splines using a indicator wheel on a milling machine....good luck

  • where can i find a drive shaft

  • @021pimpin ebay, a dealer, craigslist if you're lucky, or buy a brand new one from one of the sites that come up when you google yamaha atv parts

  • haha, epic! :D

  • those quad are beast

  • very nice looking. and extra clean!

  • thanks! i can't wait to finish it up this spring with fenders!

  • i got a question how did you like yours i have a chance to get a 1988 Yamaha Moto-4 250 bored out to 20 over but has weak spark for a my arctic cat you see in the vids

  • moto-4s are great quads if you get them cheap they are very dependable, solid, bulletproof quads they're not sport really though and the 250 is even more utility than my 200. idk if i'd do that for a 250 with weak spark but it depends on how bad you want a quad

  • the guy went off sayig he did'nt want an arcticcat cause there shit and that it works fine now all he did was set the points and now i aintgetting it

  • well that sucks

  • yah that kinda sucks but maybe it was for the better lol

  • yeah probably

  • need your valves adjusted my cousins got the same quad but a 84 and yellow they sound the same

  • yeah i was kinda wondering if it needed that but i have no idea how to do it and besides the thing runs fine it's not hurting it is it?

  • theres too much clearance between the rocker arms and the valves, thats where the ticking is comming from it smashing off the valve everytime the cam goes around. 4 strokes get expesive when they blow.

  • ok then i better get em adjusted

  • what size engine is it and how fast does it go. i might be getting one would you recomend it

  • it's a great quad for certain things will it be your first quad?

what kind of riding do you/will you do?

  • well ive driven lots of quads b4 but this will be the 1st one i actually own..ill prob use it for pulling wood and just riding thru trails

  • it's a great quad if you're not doing extreme riding (lol which is why i need a new quad sometime) the stock suspension isn't very good. its great for doing work it's geared pretty low and can haul quite a bit for a 200cc. it's a great first quad (especially if u haven't ridden b4. well if you've ridden mostly utility quads it'll be fine)

  • it's 200cc and goes about 45mph

  • Does the blue your painting the fenders match the handlebars?

  • it will probably be a little darker

  • Are you almost done making the video. I cant wait to see it!!!

  • oh sorry bout that i'll give you an update. I have done as much work as I can on the video without doing any more work on the quad. I have to do a few things to the quad to finish it up(taillight, shocks, fenders, some painting), then I can finish the video. the problem is that it's winter and my snowmobile needs an expensive part and i'm kinda low on cash so the quad work is kinda taking longer than i planned. I can't paint in the winter. I could get the shocks and taillight though.

  • part 2

since it's winter and i can't quite finish it now, i can't make a complete video until spring when i finish the work. i could do 2 videos, though, a part 1 and a part 2, but part 2 would be very short. it might be better as just 1 video

  • hey i picked up a new aftermarket taillight and the shocks for my moto-4! once i put them on, I'll just have to do a little painting and stuff in the spring!

  • i will buy the stiff shocks from you because i need new front shocks for my 1989 yamaha moto-4 which the shocks are almost flat on it- and ive made it through deeper snow and mud than 4wd quads with mine so i agree that the moto-4 is very tough despite their age!

  • you shouldn't buy stiff shocks buy the shocks like i'm getting moto-4 225 shocks you can find them on ebay for cheap

  • I hava a 1986 Yamaha Moto4 200 similar to yours except mine's blue. One of my friends broke my front fenders after wheeling it into one of those rhino utility vehicles. But then for now I just zip tied the fender back together. Yeah mine runs like a top and I have noticed it just started smoking a little, but that ain't hard to fix. I go mudding with it and I ride in in creeks and on ice. Who needs 4 wheel drive!

  • well that sucks that your front fender broke, my 250x has zip ties all over one side of the front fender.

yeah seriously moto-4s are some of the toughest quads like you said who needs a 4wd i've gone in some really rough spots with mine and got through every time no other quad i know wouldve made it

  • Yeah one of these days I'll find a used front fender on e-bay or something. Hey one of these days (probably in the summer) I'll make a video or two of it. Moto4 200s almost look like racing 4wheelers with all the mudflaps off sorta.

  • yeah that's where i got my new front fender it's faded and the mounts are broken but i got it for $50 and would have had to paint it anyway even if the paint on it was good. moto-4 200s really do have a look all their own

  • Yeah mine has a different bumper on the front than yours. Mine is basically a small rack that is fitted between the fender flaps and it is a stock bumper. Hey did ur moto4 ever kick out of the reverse gear? Because mine does all the time.

  • yeah the bumper is a good way to try to determine moto-4 years

and no i've never had it kick out of reverse... sometimes the lever doesn't go in all the way though

  • Well I pull the lever back all the way, but I hold the lever anyway when I'm backing up. I know 1983 was the first year the moto4 200 was made, but do you happen to know the last year? I've never seen a 200 newer than an "89.

  • actually they were first made in 85 (with racks and no suspension) and yes 89 is the last year they made the moto-4 200

  • Oh well I thought on some place on the internet I read about an '83 model, but ur probably right. My friend used to have an early 90s Timberwolf 250 or whatever, he drove the crap out of it and blew the tranny! lol but it was a runnin' son of a gun as well as moto4s.

  • well, tri-moto 225s (the ones that have the same rear end as moto-4 200s) were first made in 83.

    timberwolfs are nice quads

  • Maybe that's what I was thinking about. I do have a 1984 Yamaha Tri Moto 200, but it's junk. The cylinder & head are missing, and so is the starter and pull rope. I just used the back wheels off of it for my moto4. I bought that 3wheeler from one of my friends for 20 bucks. That was a deal. I use it for parts.

  • yeah i have an 83 tri-moto 225 got it for 50 bucks a couple months ago i'm parting it out. i chopped the pipe from it and put it on my moto-4, the rest of the good stuff from it is for sale. supposedly the motor ran a couple years ago i'll get it running

  • Does your 225 have reverse? My tri moto 200 is shaft driven, I have no idea if it has reverse or not, although I knida doubt it did. The rear end on it is locked up also.

  • i think it does and yes i don't think the 200s do. i'll find out tonight

  • yeah mine has lots of issues

  • i think you should of got the 06 Yamaha Raptor front shocks. They are really nice and i found some for just $60 bux

  • lol would if i could but the front shocks on the moto-4 are only about 11 inches long-raptor shocks are way longer

  • Also if you have good rims and tires it makes it alot smoother . Your worn out front tires would work rele well

  • lol we never got new front tires still gotta get around to that....

  • How fast can your Moto 4 go? Mine can go about 31.25 kph. I learned if you put in a Champion or NGK Premium spark plug it runs a whole lot better.

  • yeah not quite sure how fast it goes I've had it up to 42mph (I was using a GPS) but that wasn't full throttle and it was before the modifications so I should try again. hey thanks for the spark plug tip i've got a standard NGK in it right now.

  • I'd also like to know where you found the footrests. mine only has the one which is only like an inch wide

  • lol like i said to Tim the quad came with those footrests. I'm the second owner of it so the other guy must've put them on. they are actually the moto-4 200 version of nerf bars, they are great things to have on it. anyway, just look around on e-bay I see them there all the time. I'm not sure, but I think that stock moto-4 225s and 250s came with those, so you could look into that on e-bay.

  • Does the Uni Air Filter give the quad more power. Is the power difference even noticeable?!?!?!

  • yeah the UNI filter was good for the price...lol the stock filter cost more so I got the UNI and it's a better filter anyway! the power difference was noticable, it wasn't much different, but i could tell that it had just a little more power.

  • a good mod to do is just to take your air box lid off it gives a bit more power plus its free

  • yeah but for this quad, you'd have to find a way to keep the filter from flying out

  • lol

  • Very Nice job! Well Done.

When you said you cleaned every part on the quad, did you have to use any cleaning product like "Liquid Performance"?

  • Thanks man! Yeah it's almost done!

When I cleaned the air box, I cleaned it with something, but I don't remember what, I'll try to find out for you. Other than that, I stripped it down and cleaned the pieces I took off by hand with a rag and water. When I got it down to where the quad was just the chassis and motor, we took it to a pressure wash. I have pictures of the whole project and will make a video once the quad is done!

  • Part 2:

I just need to paint my new front fender, buy the rear fender I found, and paint that too!

  • them motos run forever

  • one other thing dont modify your exuast to much youll reck your engine

  • yeah I know don't worry i'm being careful I'm going to check the plug to see if the motor burns too hot

  • ok thanx

  • really nice dude where did you get the foot gards on the pegs???

  • they were on it when i got it. i see them on ebay all the time.

  • very nice ride

  • thanks! it'll be awesome once i finish it!

  • Nice!!

  • like it? I LOVE IT!!

  • What a beast! Looks good.

  • thanks! It'll look way better once I get new fenders on it!

  • DUDE! this is awsome! thank you!

  • you're welcome! I'm glad you like it!

  • DUDE! thank you so much!

  • man! thats perfect! thank you so much!! idk, how much more to thank you!
