the czar created a double action model for officers only where they would need the extra firepower. the soldiers model was a single action and when the soviets took over most were taken in and all became double actions. the trigger pulls either way are rather bad, but given practice its good. single action is of course the best for deliberate accurate fire. but general pistol doctine in most countries states double action rapidly at very close range. but people could deliberately be picked off
I guess due to the lack of cylinder gap with Nagant revolvers, the shooter needn't be as concerned about having the hand near the cylinder while cocking.
I still had to cringe when seeing the supporting hand cradling the cylinder while being cocked for the second shot (with the finger on the trigger).
It's nice to see people still using these warhorses. Mine looks like it was made yesterday. Too bad they don't load the 7.62x38R to military specs.
Yeah the nagant is great for begginers because of its low recoil. Only downsides are, ammo is not cheap, double action sucks, and reloading takes forever.....
It's double action which means that you don't have to cock it.
It's a little bit tough to pull that trigger without cocking it. Yes, you can however this approach of cocking it makes it easier for familiarization.
@Gunluver1 Yeah its Double action but its so hard to pull the trigger you'll ask if its broke(Damn sure not making anything accurate with it)... I got one.... I just use it as a single action.

just take it apart and polish, then oil the trigger and vertical block parts. it will be fine in double action.

I like to see a more visible earplug.
My wife was able to enjoy shooting this gun actually for the first time she shot a gun. She said "No recoil really..."
