Anti-Virus & Virus writers need each other, the AntiVirus companies need the virus writers for the increased business & Virus writers need the companies to keep them challenged and creative.

It wouldn't surprise me if some AntiVirus companies were indirectly involved in the "encouragement" of some sort of the virus writers.
