  • Tell all those afficondos to jump in a lake! Appreciate the Dano for what it is- a wonderfully, unsual guitar. Why don't you guys name dropping this dude or that blues player, post something of your own blues playing.? So you going to tell that the early blues master who played on cheap acoustics don't cut it because it doesn't sound like this or like that????

  • Niiiice tone for just a reissue!!!!

  • great tone and playing hats off to you

  • damn dude you got soul

  • is that back silver thing a pickup because it looks like the bridge thingy and looks like he is playing in the place where the strings go down im not sure never played 1 of those kinda guitars :P

  • Hello Kevyp- where can I get that backing track? Great Playing- nice guitar amp tone......great riffs

  • Love that Dano tone!! Got to get a lipstick pickup!

  • is this guitar good for surf rock? it sounds real twangy.

  • they are distinct in tone, but still pretty versatile. great for jangly 60s stuff... almost like a rickenbacker... for surf though... the tone is fine, but some guys like to have a whammy bar for surf stuff (dick dale vibe)

  • You might want to try getting a Jaguar if you want to play surf music.

  • i ended up getting a Danelectro U2 and i love it... maybe someday i'll get a jaguar, but i'd consider a jazzmaster too!

  • perfect for surf rock. especially if you snag one with a tremolo arm. I just kick up the reverb and go to town.

  • is that lefty strung upside down? Either that or the light is making the E and B look like wound strings?

  • No, just a regular right handed guitar strung regular with 10-46's.

  • You nailed that old school blues tone!

  • Wonderful-your licks are a nice retreat back to what the blues used to sound like, when the feel of the playing was slower, more relaxed, and more fluid. Great job!

  • The tone is simply freaking awesome! Is that a Standel amp your using and what effects if any? Please do tell?

  • The amp is a roland micro cube. Tiny little solid state thing. Great for practising indoors without fear of waking the neighbours! No effects, just straight into the amp.

  • Nice. What amp?

  • Nice licks and phrasing, great tone!

  • the tone really reminds me of one of the off-phase positions on the Mustang I had.

    Thanks for the tasty playing!

  • cool guitar...great playin...reminds me of old time blues guys...t bone walker or johnny watson

  • sweeet - is a great relief from all the feckin shredders!

  • I like the playing and unique tone a lot.

  • nice phrasing.

  • I never really liked these danelectros for the blues, i awlways thought the tone was a little too thin. More of a

    chicken-pickin type guitar

  • I think he's got an interesting tone, but yeah, he could of been better off turning the treble down on his amp or using the neck pickup (If he isn't already.)

  • You guys are nuts. Intentionally or not, he totally nails Johnny Guitar Watson's early 60s tone. The phrasing is nice, too.

  • Not nuts, just unfamiler with Johnny Watson. I wouldn't call you nuts if you never heard of Glenn Kaiser or Mike Choby.

  • If you're unfamiliar with Johnny Guitar Watson, and your frame of reference is "blues rock" - then it is entirely possible that you may not be the most qualified person around to make pronouncements on whether or not a Danelectro sounds "too thin for blues" or not.

  • I never said that dano was too thin for blues.

  • jonnda, we are talking blues, if you don't know, shut up and listen.....this guys pretty darn good......

  • never said he wasn't good. And I do know blues, just not the same stuff you probibly do.

  • Don't be afraid of treble! This guy sounds great - very vintage, just not a contemporary sound.

  • YEAH!

    thats very very good man!

  • wow man u got talent. very nice timing wit the background music.

  • Cool playing. Love the style. I take my hat off to you.

  • Killer playing and killer tone. kevyp, that out-of-phase sound is fantastic! Did you rewire the U2 or did it come that way, stock?

  • jeez man you smoked it hehe very nice

  • may i have the tabs, dude?

  • do you really need tabs man? the video shows you what he is playing and the temp isn't too fast. You can figure it out, you can do it man, I know you can....

  • thaz rele cool

  • nice, reminds me of the enchantment under the sea dance.

  • it totally does sound like that! great stuff

  • the enchanment under the sea dance. Ha ha........that song is actually "Night Train". Blues power yeah/////

  • Nice runs....especially in the end...like that little trillll

  • Very nice.

  • hey sounds great...im getting a vintage u2 for my birthday...its used and a little chipped up but its worth it for danelectro

  • Sounds like old BB King man! Ya really make the guitar siiiiiiing man! Peace

  • I like your style!
