  • What the hell. You don't have to format your drive to go to Windows 7 if on XP. All your files stay in a Windows.Old folder for access. Granted you have to redownload the programs but your not formatting your drive and doing backup thats for sure. But its still good in case the worst happens

  • >>Look up this video "Snow Leopard on a PC - Hackintosh" I have use Hackintosh for years they are fast, and work great if you set them up right...

    >> I have Linux, and BSD both can do just as much as Mac OS... and they are both free...

  • I tried to get Mac OS X running on one of my PCs. I got it to work, but there was always some problem. Ether the sound or the network, or sleep, or shut-down, etc After spending hundreds of hours trying to make it right, I gave up. I realized I was having the PC experience, not the Mac experience. The reason I wanted a Mac was so I would not have to debug/fix it all the time. To have that, I am just going to have to buy a Mac I have one on order.

  • How come you never read upon the subject before you are posting a video?

Apple have a protection against non apple hardware.. The DSMOS = Do Not Steal Mac OS.

We at the osx86 scene have already patched that. And just for the notice. the orginal Do Not Steal Mac OS patch WAS provided by apple them self.. In the switch to intel, they did not have the hardware..so the dev. kits included this patch. :)

  • I see you have a PC : (((

  • ya if i could run mac osx on my pc at my office that would be great!! my CAD software crashes when using installed on a mac with bootcamp.. and i really dont have anymore deskspace left to have another computer sitting around the office. and im out off outlets anyways with all my monitors and printers and secutiry cameras etc etc. so if mac lets this happen i wouldnt mind going out to buy osx. because there are many things i need to do on both.. but right now mac running windows doesnt work

  • how can u say 98 was bad it was solid same as xp.... but vista dont get me started on that 100% shit

  • Rebel EFI is awesome. Now i can afford to use Mac OS X on a computer that won't rape my wallet. I think it's great !! (Waiting to be thumbed down by mac fanboys)

  • Rebel EFI is a scam. Psystar just stole free, open source code and charges for it without giving credit where due.

    Fuck Psystar.

  • Thats right! You are totally right! spot on! and I'm happy to see that some people auctally followup and read regarding this debate! :)

  • surely theres something on a mac motherboard which says this is an apple motherboard like often on a pc in hardware settings or something it will tell you what make/brand the motherboard is.

  • no i like it how it is !

  • No. Mac OS X is deisgned and made for Mac hardware. Thats just the way it is. The Mac is just a different kind of computer, and these things just cannot be mixed up. Leave Apple with their OSX and Windows (via bootcamp), and leave PC's just PC's.

  • So your saying , MAC users can have Windows AND OSX , but PC users can only have Windows ? The MAC wasn't designed for PC software , so I will be looking forward to throwing OSX on my Alienware :D

  • Most consumers don't buy and upgrade operating systems. They buy a new computer and use whatever OS it comes with soooo get a mac.

  • Look, if OS X is better than Windows, then licensing it to run on PC's would increase Mac market share. Increased marketshare, would mean faster cross development, and more software designed for both OS's. Face it, Mac hardware looks sleek and cool, but is NOT superior to what is available for PC's, and it costs a LOT more. Market saturation would be the end result, and would only help Mac. This should have happened 20 years ago, if Mac truly IS superior to Wintel.

  • i agree with the below comments..pc users talk shit about os x but now they all want it on there pc's...fuckn retards

  • I think it's good that Psystar is doing this. Seriously why would i want that lovely 27" Kickass Imac if it has such lowend graphics card?

  • im happy that i subscribed :D

  • As bad as it may sound, I do like the exclusivity of OSX to apple hardware because right now, macs are the premium computer. If it becomes just another os that can go on any computer, it takes away the high end quality. For me to walk into an apple store because I have a little dust under my screen and walk out with a brand new macbook in 20 min is amazing, and it wont be that way if OSX is just on some random laptop.

  • No no no..

I want to see this happen. I want to see OSX working on many normal PC rigs!

But let me know before so i can sell Macbook first ^^

Really im looking forward at what psystar did and how it works.

  • i want to see things to stay the way they are.

i love only being able to have os x on apple hardware.

    it makes it more cool

  • i didn't know Oxtober was a month?

  • ha! i know, this is what happens when you make videos while hungover. ;)

  • this will be a really bad thing. but apple is going to fix this. just watch

  • people forget windows is a software company, so if os x is so good, then it can survive as a software company too. if you buy a computer, you own it. if you buy an os, you own it.

if car manufacturers sold cars and told you that you can't drive it on dirt, would you think that was fair? you bought the car, you can do what you want with it. same with computers. if i buy a computer, its my freaking computer and i will do with it what i want

  • I agree 100%.

  • @johnmonk66 Just being picky but you don't own it, you have a licence to use it.

  • Can anyone get the ATi X1800XT to work with OS X86 coz I can't get the dam thing to work!

  • I wouldn't get the mini, save up for a MacBook or a MacBook pro, their awesome computers

  • snow leopard 10.6.2 should fix the data loss bug

  • question i want a computer for christmas should i get a dell studio 15 laptop or a mac mini

  • Get the Mac Mini. It's great since the new release.

  • October? You mean Oxtober! lol

  • since OS X's kernel is open source, there is really not much Apple can do to prevent users from installing OS X on PCs.

  • Oxtober :D

  • This might force apple to drop their prices, let's be honest their comps are damn expensive, I personally don't think their overpriced, but expensive nonetheless. I wonder how much more market share apple would gain if they dropped their price by $500 or more?

  • or released a 999 and down tower

  • LMAO " oxtober"

  • I like my macs, but I'll always have one pc in the house. I hope Windows 7 is better than the rest.

I do think that Mac knows what the hell they are doing.

    peace 

  • Just today I built A Hackintosh with Core 2 Quad, 4gigs of ram a decent graphics card for £260.

I've had a MacBook Pro for a couple of months and love the os so I needed a desktop machine.

I'd love to buy a Mac Pro or one of the new quad core imacs but right now in my position theres no way I can afford it.

  • lb260? how the hell did you get that for lb260?

  • Its not top of the line components but its enough for what I need.

    Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L MoBo £33

    Core 2 Quad £105

    9400gt gfx card £30

    4gb Corsair 800mhz ram £60

    500gb WD HDD £35

    All from ebuyer

  • i buy mac for the hardware style, the OS, and most importantly the Customer service. I buy mac for the whole package, not just one thing.

  • oxtober rofl

  • thank you for mentioning Rebel EFI! Mac will die if the prices wont become reasonable. 2000 dollars for a Intel i5 iMac is ridiculous, Dell has i5 PCs starting from 700 dollars!!

  • a big part of the value proposition for the iMac is the all in one form factor. a standalone monitor with the quality of that display would set you back a good $1,000 for the 27" model (even though the standalone would be in some ways superior, but my point continues to stand) and $500-600 for the 21.5" model.

even if a similar PC and monitor cost you $1,800, what's $200? a couple of dinners out, tickets to a show?

  • I agree.

  • I think it's wrong, apple makes the software and owns it. I think if you want the apple os buy a mac!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Is it not illegal what Psystar are doing? and is it not illegal to own a Psystar machine... Apple's EULA (End User License Agreement) says... you cannot install Mac OS on a non Apple labelled machine (or allow others to do so). It also say you cannot RUN Mac OS on a non Apple labelled machine!

If you gonna get Mac OS... Get a Mac!

I agree with you on the Apple ad's Dave, there a little childish and are not actually selling the product, there just saying how bad the other guys is!

  • The mac is not dying, The slam ads are not needed, Apple should focus on quality and made in USA, and Microsoft should concentrate on product and change their format.

  • im thinkin by next year the mac is dead ha!

  • mac will never die!!!

  • Judging by the reception i recieved at the grand opening of Cardiffs apple store yesterday, i would say we wont be seeing the 'death of the mac' anytime soon.

Even if i could buy a cheap dell lappy and install OSX on it i wouldnt because its not the same. You dont buy an aston martin DB9 with a fiesta engine in it.

(the more people document the ability to run OSX on a pc the more likely people are to hear about it and try it, hush hush)

  • I am going to spread the word that you can run OS X on pc now that I have seen this video and know it is possible.

  • in my opinion i think a mac doesnt feel like a mac if its not used on a mac. hahaha

  • well said.

  • Yay first one to see you're video!

    Btw you're cool!

  • to see you are video? fail

  • darn you
