  • i have that same blender

  • Is it okay to mix whey and protein. I have been drinking whey for three years now, but recently i heard that its best to mix since soy has more iron, and more vitamin source, thank you in advance.

  • this guy is great...

  • what about any leg workouts?

  • that blender pwns

  • its not 6 buck more like 45 casue that musle milk shit is 45

  • wow you're a smart one. the tub of protein powder might cost 40-50 bucks, but it can make at least 70 shakes.

  • cool. i will try that some time :) pretty damn loud lol. keep up the greats vids they really help me!!

  • Frothy...Hahaha. Yeah I do this but no banana...

  • try using milk instead of water. tastes a million times better

  • yes but then you get more fat...but i guess it cant be bad since you can always use low-fat milk. Btw, anyone tried this with vanilla taste protein powder?

  • hey you can't blend it for that long, it breaks up the protein too much which then makes it become unusable.

  • YUMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Heres the truth. Soy protein contains MORE protein per serving, as well as providing more of the essential nutrients that are bodies require and desire of us. In the long run, for healthy muscle gain, soy is more efficient. My goal, as allot of peoples isn't to turn into balloon muscles, rather, tone up and get stronger. If this is anyone's goal, I suggest soy over anything, plus, it tastes SO much better than whey...

  • how does it taste ive tried alot of protein shakes but they taste NASTY!!!

  • Optimum Nutrition range is great, you'd almost definitely enjoy chocolate!

  • i like using milk not water

  • how many grams of protein should i have per day if i workout 3 times a week?

  • 150 - 200 grams a day.

  • is protein good for a person that is over weight and trying to lose some fat %. by doing cardio and weights

  • 150 - 200 grams a day.

  • yes, because the more muscle you're able to build, then the more calories you'll burn as you work out.

  • i got a question i heard soy milk could give men breasts well not actual breast but ya so you sure about soy milk?

  • Soy absolutely doesn't do that. Soy has only fitoostrogen in a very little amount. The funny thing in that is that: in this little amount, your ostrogen doesn't goes up, but actually going to "pause" your body making ostrogen. So nope, it won't make you big breast or little penis.

  • do you mean estrogen?

  • PRETTY DAMN LOUD EH SCOOBY!?

  • nice blender

    .

  • Great idea Scooby. I make my own shakes with milk, strawberries, blueberries, and bannanas. I can't use protein powder cuz my mom doesn't want me to get it yet even though I told her it's very healthy but whatever. I tried using a frozen bannana and it was amazing. I love ur videos Scooby!

  • hey I tried this and it's delicious - but why does the banana have to be frozen? wouldn't fresh banana work just as well?

  • maybe it makes it colder or adds an "icy" texture to it?

  • well have u ever had a warm milk shake, if the banana isnt frozen then it will make the shake all nasty and warm.

  • nice vid dude

  • i tried this with some frozen strawberries and it was good. thanks scooby, never thought of addin some flavor to it with frozen fruit.

  • nice, but the whey protein cost like $50+ itself

  • but it should have a lot of servings, cause youre just usin one scoop

  • Buy Bodyfortress's brand

Its around 12$ and you can find it at walmart in all sorts of flavors

  • Lol i was just gonna post the same thing

  • lol please don't by all means, i'm just a student at the moment, i have another year to go before i get my full degree!!! Please don't think i was being rude or anything

  • actually soy protein contains a few amino acids that are ONLY found in soy. pros and cons are always being argued about the world over with whey or soy protein, especially in my field of sport science. It boils down in the end to a very small variation in which is ''better'', that is to say also that everyone is different, from preference to physiological response :)

  • samthespartan i have 2 questions for you. 1)what program are you taking; can you point me to a website? 2) what you know about using complete amino acids to build proteins; the pharmacist with whom i work was telling me about using a red kidney beans/frozen corn mixture because it's a complete amino acid; an amendment to that question about proteins role in insulin sensitivity (i have a diabetic father but i think i can beat that diesase).

  • Hey Scooby!

There's allot of speculation over Soy protein powders, and allot of people think that its "feminine" (for whatever reason, theirs no estrogen in it) However, the soy version that I can get is cheaper, and I get MORE of it than whey stuff.

Scientific studies have been done, and results have proven to be both AS effective and more effective than whey protein so:

Is there any other difference to people buying whey, and if so, should I start paying more for whey instead?

  • scooby accept my friend request I have a question for you! Great video by the way

  • Why banana? becuz of potassium?

  • thanks for the good advise.Keep makin the great videos.

  • can you use milk? if so, what type of milk?

  • low cal. one.. depends what you want to do with your body.

  • eightbbal only use skim milk for anything.

  • how many calories are in this drink? what kind of protein shake is the lowest calories to buy? thanks!

  • can you use old spotted bannas, i like bannas that are spotted cause they tast better in my opinion

  • is isolated whey protein powder flavoured?

  • why do you use a frozen banana and not a regular one ?

  • frozen bananas are the key, this will not work with warm ones. The frozen banana cools the drink and makes it much thicker and creamier.

  • ahhh too shay, thanks :)

  • you poor bastard powder costs like nothing $0.60 for one shake scooby is the man

  • i agree 33hegemon.

  • god u boring bastard. U must have no friends. ha ha.

  • the whole point of a homemaed protein shake is that you don't need to buy protein power in order to make it. this tutorial has an inaccurate description, don't you think?

  • Huh? I dont understand. No, the point of making a homemade shake is to make one that is healthy and inexpensive. Use a 100% natural whey if you can afford it, there are no artificial ingredients, flavors or sweeteners in the good ones. Here are the ingredients of the shakes I make

    OJ (or organic milk)

    banana

    whey (no other ingredients)

    What could be healthier?

  • What whey do you use/recommend?

  • what i meant was, using ready-made protein powder as one of the key ingredients means this isn't, strictly speaking, a "homemade" shake. it's like advertising homemade bread and then including "a few slices of bread" in the list of ingredients. see my point?

  • the point is that your not buying actual shakes from the gym. the ones that are costing upwards of 10$.

    this is awesome I thought.

  • yea well if you counted each shake you made each one would cost about .60 cents

  • you can find 100% whey protein at your local GNC or Vitamin World...etc.

  • I've started doing chest press, chest incline, curls, triceps, lat pulldown and shoulder press. I also do Thai Boxing and MMA on alternate days. Would this make a good post-workout drink? I usually try to have beef, turkey or chicken in my sandwich at lunch. What else can you eat for protein during the day, nuts?

  • the ON 100% whey protein it costs like 20-45 usd think depends the size of the botle plus banas here in my country cost like .20 uds plus the electricity that you wate shaking it, jaaj am jk,, nice vid i do the same with the same brand of whey protein shake but with the chocolate one..

  • if anyone in the UK wants cheap whey theres a way of getting 10lb (about 4.5kg) for £23 (unflavored but tastes good) from myprotein dot co dot uk use the price matcher, for in depth info on this go to the muscletalk dot co dot uk forums in supplements, should tell you the link to put in the price matcher there, good stuff.

  • Nice, but I don't really think that cost ONLY $0.6.

  • man your awesome

  • i cant find protien whey in the supermarket.. where can i find it?

  • how did that shake cost 60 cents heck you had to buy the powder for at least 20 dollars and the bananas were probaly 2 dollars

  • Two scoops of EAS protein purchased from costco has 30g protein and costs $0.39. The milk and banana make up the rest of the 60 cents. For the price of various protein sources, check out my website under nutrition>proteinSources. That price was confirmed 6/11/07

  • You Americans are very lucky we pay for the same products 2 or 3 times more in my country.

  • If you find inexpensive sources of protein in your country, please let me know what you use. I get many questions about that and I'd love to be able to pass on your information.

  • yea how much is that protein powder 30 dollars a tub.

  • hey scooby, how much of a difference does whey protein do to your muscle gaining?

when i work out i mix a multivitamin powder - "power blast" energy fuel - with a bottle of water.

can you tell me if switching to whey protein would be a better option?

also, to your recipe, how many shakes does your big jug of whey protein last?

  • @ larryxillest

1.) your multivitamin wont "boost" your muscle growth at all directly. The muscles need good amounts of protein to grow after a hard workout, spreaded out over the day. If you dont consume enough whey (check literature / websites for additional infos about the amount of protein you need) you wont get optimized effects.

2.) I use the same Whey protein, it sais 72 servings, so if you use 1 big scoop for each shake it will last 2-3 months

  • thank you faraskan

  • any time :)

  • 100% correct, well put.

  • Consuming small doses of protein every 3hrs when you are awake makes a HUGE difference in your ability to add muscle mass. There is nothing magical about protein shakes though, you could eat 6 well balanced meals during the day too. It takes many days for your body to rebuild muscles after they have been worked out and a constant supply of protein is rqd.

  • This is ridiculous. He mixed some powder with water and a banana. Good work. Whodathunk?

  • Not everyone knows the secret to making really tasty shakes like you do. The secret is using FROZEN bananas, it makes the shakes thick and creamy. Not to mention the fact that frozen bananas are logistically much easier because you can buy a huge batch once a month and freeze them which is much easier than buying them weekly.

  • omg i got the same exact blender! NICE!

  • nice blender scoob

  • Under $50 delivered to my door! Its so dang loud though, thats my only complaint.

  • where do ypu buy protein powder?

    seth,

  • Wal Mart.

  • What brand does walmart carry and how much is it? Costco just started carrying EAS. I still like my optimum nutrition "100% natural whey" protein because it doesnt have all the artificial sweetners, flavors, etc. At $29 for 5lbs its a bit more than Costco's but I personally think its worth it.

  • @ calvinnivlac: im sorry, but the woman told bullsh*t.

Whey Protein aint a problem at all, ofc your body can absorb it.

@itzLeo: This protein powder is 100% natural which means there are no artificial flavours, sweeteners and so on inside, its nothing else but hydrated whey.

He takes the Bananas because of the required fructose after the training and they are frozen so you can story them in the freezer for quite a while without buying new ones each day.

  • I was in a health shop a few months ago n the woman said that I should have the milk & egg protein powder because all of the others would go straight through me if my body isn't used to it. Is this true? I've been working out and eating properly for a few months now, should I get some whey?

  • When getting health information, always look at the credentials of the person supplying the information as well as their motivation!

  • tried it out - doesnt taste too bad but flavour isnt the important factor in protein shakes i guess. I recommend having one after every time you work out, for maximum effect. Very cheap and filling! Thanks again scooby

  • Remember, protein shakes do not have any magical muscle building properties! You need small doses of protein 5-6 times a day and protein shakes make that more convenient. You can have a protein shake after working out or a small, well-balanced meal - it makes no difference.

  • Hey, I do the same thing 'cept I thought about adding bananas, looks like I'll try it.

    Thanks! Great videos.

  • Actually, any frozen fruit would work in these shakes. Bananas are the least expensive where we are but it is possible that other fruits in season would be even less expensive. Strawberries would be really good too.

  • tried this, pretty good, but those shakes at the gym have better flavors! :] good for low budgets though

  • And Captain Cruch with Crunchberries tastes better than oatmeal if you get my drift :) By the way you can change the flavor of the shake by using orange juice or soy milk instead of nonfat milk.

  • But isn't the whey you add in still a "packet of chemicals" ??? also curios on why you use bananas frozen, and do you peel a bunch then freezer them up? is it just so they can be kept longer??? Thanks!!!

  • Whey powder is derived from milk. It makes up the bulk of weight gain powders but isn't a nasty chemical by any means. I'm not sure where to get just pure why protein from though, but it would be cheaper than the other powders with added weird stuff. (I like the weird stuff though, makes me feel like an escaped experiment from a secret soviet lab)

  • I found a website before that apparently ONLY sold 100% pure whey, I was considering some but they didn't deliver and were based in London which is 150 miles from me. Smart buisness move there eh

  • secret soviet lab? lol, lol

    oh no, lol

    god thats so anto russian

  • Nah, just somewhat anti soviet ;)

  • go on his website. he peels them 1st then puts them in the freezer

  • The protein powder I use (see my website) has no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners. Frozen bananas are the key, they cool down the shake to make it thick, cold, and creamy without the addition of ice which makes the shakes taste watery or grainy. Plus, you only have to go banana shopping once a month :)

  • Thanks Scooby!
