I don't believe in those terms either. No one is either/or entirely. It is a rare individual that is entiely, completely, either liberal or conservative. Those words are so completely over used so as to have pratically no meaning any more.
It is a category by which people can quickly identify some basic principles without going into detail about talking about each one. Of course there will still be disagreements between people within each category, it is merely someplace to start.
I think they are unhelpful labels that pidgeon hole people, put people on guard, and in many cases cause certain people to turn off their ears. I have learned that there is no concensus or discusson, honesty, concern, empathy or anything else integral to human interaction/communication when people insist on such labels.
True, I think that political parties do compartmentalize people from informing and educating themselves about issues like presidential candidates for example. However, what conservatives and liberals believe is a way of identifying what general standards or beliefs individuals are likely to have in common.
I think when it comes to presidential candidates, especially this last election, the educating about candidates simply boiled down to what we had for the past eight years and more people thought, "Oh hell no! This time I'm getting Pepsi!"

Not at all. Howard Stern is truthful, at least in this matter. I stated my point earlier and a reasonable person can conclude my point from watching the videos.

I am pointing out the ignorance of people who support Obama in general. Harlem is but a small fraction which Howard Stern pointed out. Watch the other videos I posted and you should get the general idea of the stupidity.

I don't believe in those terms either. No one is either/or entirely. It is a rare individual that is entiely, completely, either liberal or conservative. Those words are so completely over used so as to have pratically no meaning any more.

It is a category by which people can quickly identify some basic principles without going into detail about talking about each one. Of course there will still be disagreements between people within each category, it is merely someplace to start.

I think they are unhelpful labels that pidgeon hole people, put people on guard, and in many cases cause certain people to turn off their ears. I have learned that there is no concensus or discusson, honesty, concern, empathy or anything else integral to human interaction/communication when people insist on such labels.

True, I think that political parties do compartmentalize people from informing and educating themselves about issues like presidential candidates for example. However, what conservatives and liberals believe is a way of identifying what general standards or beliefs individuals are likely to have in common.

I think when it comes to presidential candidates, especially this last election, the educating about candidates simply boiled down to what we had for the past eight years and more people thought, "Oh hell no! This time I'm getting Pepsi!"
