You are all worrying too much about soverign debt in a fiat currency world. You will not get inflation if there is a downturn. Peak oil is a problem though, but not the governments debt.

I live in Wisconsin the Amish do fine with the winters. It is making enough food to survive the winters. A good grinder helps make fresh bread.

the average middle class couldn't manage without a cell phone in their face much less living without power or running water. I have lived like the Amish have for a few months when I was a kid. It is no picnic.

@MrKillswitch88 --- You are right. Americans today are completely different from those who experienced the Depression and hard times. Cell phones, cable tv, air conditioning, fast food, credit cards. We are soft and when the system crashes, many will not be able to cope.

My plan: Move to North Carolina. Start a self-sustaining farming community to grow food, get water from nearby lakes, and place solar & wind turbines nearby... Not to mention its warm for less heating! Invest in silver and rebuild our society! Response anyone?

@Cyrus992 -- I would not live where a long cold winter would prevent growing a winter garden. I live in the deep south, high rainfall , mild winters. Also I do not have a bug out retreat, so I must use my existing home and yard. You can grow a lot of food in a smalll space with adequate palnning, and a complete collapse is unlikely, but a some point the government will not be able to provide as much benefits as promised and people will have to learn how to live with less.

@Cyrus992 ----- there are lots of preparedness videos and books. Each person's situation is different, but a 3 month supply of food, a gun and ammo, the ability to plant a garden with seeds, propane and camping stove and some water storage containers is a good start.

Yes but the sheeple do not hear the voice of reason only MSM, Obama, Disney, and the pretty pictures on the milk carton and the Weaties box. Have food for 2 years, seeds, fertilizer, medicine, weapons, land and a community of like minded.
