He's certainly been a great influence on me, and will probably be listening to him till my final days. I enjoy playing Sunrise often, sometimes I play it very slow, or upbeat at times. I am so into this. It sounds like a traveling song, always forward moving and reflective at the same time. It is really beautiful yet you never neglect that great groove from those 5ths (descending 4ths??) in the bass. There are a lot of different flavours in this song. One minute I'm in Brazil, then the next in Cuba or in Italy or on the road with some Manouche jazz musicians. But that's what I love about it; that you can't quite put your finger on it. Dreamy.

Thank you...as far as melody goes, I always try to keep it simple...the background might be a bit complex, but that's to compensate for not having a bassist, a drummer and singer behind me. I think that's why I'm influenced greatly by musicians like Sineas O Connor, and Peter Gabriel. They have some haunting melodies. Scott
