naww and i live 1 km from the ocean where they have seals and i never dived there!? by the way are seals dangerous? know that the leader of the group can be mad
Hi again. Been looking at your video as I am starting to build up a photo ID catalogue of seals on Lundy. Would you be willing for me to use screen grabs to add to our file? Please can you tell me when you filmed this brilliant footage. These are definitely grey seals....adult females. Grey seals are very gentle unless they feel threatened. They will use their mouths like hand to test the density of materials. Great discussion!
Great footage and edit. Seals love yellow - Ive had Farne Island seals nibble my yellow fins, the pups are the most curious. Last year, I had a seal pup looking right into my maski, making direct eye contact. I had my toch up by my head, with the seals mouth on it - it lit up all his teeth - quite a sight when it's 6 inches from your face!
this vid has confirmed wot i thought when i when i went on my first try dive last week, i must get my open water liscence and do this for myself, ty for giving me the kick up the arse i needed to finally go and learn how to scuba
Great clip!,wish i had been there,i have two nice holes in my fins from an adult grey seals, they often swim dehind you when your diving because their curious with the fins but never had an encounter like that.
What amazing footage. Great film - well done and an awesome experience!
These are juvenile female Grey Seals.
They interact with people using their lips as they have no hands and this has mobile and sensitive skin with which to explore unknown objects. Grey Seals are naturally gentle, but will bite if they feel threatened by loud noises or swift unexpected movements. I've had one bite right through my right thumb nail on a rescue, so beware! I ID seals in Cornwall & hope to ID a Youtube one!
yeah happened to me yesterday too... I must say it started to make me feel a bit uneasy in the water with all these seals, when a few started charging towards us with snapping jawas open !...no one was bitten though..
Seals (and sharks!) respond very strongly to yum yum yellow. If you want a close encounter wear yellow fins, but if you're more cautious wear black or blue.
That was very entertaining. Persistent little buggers aren't they? Those seals reminded me of puppy dogs "attacking" loose shoe strings. The music couldn't have been any more perfect for this video!
Planning to visit the Channel Islands this summer for a little diving. Can't wait!
Yup, I've heard of a marine biologist studying these lovely mammals who actually doesnt tie his finstraps because he had experienced too often that they would drag him down or up beyond his control. He prefered a controlled but finless ascent above any uncontrolled journey! Hehe, loved to see how careful they are when biting the diver where they're not supposed to!
lmao how cute!

what a great experience, but to put your feet in their mouth is pretty rude...or maybe you've a fetichism that seals share. ;)

I know seals have a jaw full of sharp teeth, would they attack? and could they do much harm to a diver even with his rubber suit on ?

The same thing happened to me today for the first time, it was in Anacapa Island, it seemed playful but a little to close for comfort.
these are HARBOR SEALS.

anyone know of a video with a guy diving with a leopard seal?
maineman527 4 years ago
Are those gray seals or harbor seals? They almost look like a cross between the two, normally its pretty obvious! Great video though!

Almost 100% certain that they are Gray Seals.
