Im 16 years old im the last FRENCH-creole in my family. im a little different cuz when the french slave master taught his daughter which happens to be my great great great great grandmother my ancestors how to speak the language, he also taught her how to write it which resulted in her speaking french not creole french. i can speak a little creole but i speak french but not like it in france mine a little broken.i believe that where my french creole heritage started.
SHE IS STUPID IM HAITIAN DUMB ASSES SHE EVEN SAID HER FAMILY IS HAITIAN OH MY LORD JUST BECAUSE SHE IS FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY DOESN'T MEAN SHE CANT SPEAK IT
@KalissaFluffy1 What?? Her family isn't Haitian.. The are American Creole.. Ppl keep trying to say it not a difference but honestly it is.. A person that is Haitian Creole can not speak to an American Creole and understand each other.. Haitian Creole is French, Spanish, Arabic, English, (Haitian)Native, Arawak with African influences.. American Creole is English, French(mainly), Spanish, (American)Native with African influences..
@KalissaFluffy1 It's not the same and you know why I know?? My ex boyfriend was from Haiti and spoke creole.. He's the one that told me.. Plus common sense is the fact that an Amerindian and a Taino don't speak the same languages.. Plus it's a made up language from 2 different countries..

Im from louisiana and im proud to say that im creole... Which is French, spanish, and hatian... everyone in Louisiana thinks that its African but there were over 200,00 hatian men and women that came to Louisiana.. Alot of us didnt kno this but the majority of our ancestors are from Haiti weather we like it or not. Louisiana is a very diff state our culture and history is very rich... We are unique no culture nor History like louisiana
A creole is a language that developed naturally from the mixing of two or more others. There are more creoles spoken in the world than just Haitian creole. There is also Jamaican, which is rooted in English, rather than French; Nubi is a creole based in Arabic, and spoken in some parts of eastern Africa; and there is even Australian Kriol, another English-influenced variant. Knowledge is power, kids.
@AngryGum...Haiti is a "corruption" (using the term loosely) of the original Indian name for the island. Asking why Creole / Kreyol is considered Creole is like asking why English is considered English....it just is. If you are instead asking what languages make up Haitian Kreyol...it is French based, and includes African dialects, Spanish, and other contributions from cultures that were on the island. And it is definitely not a lumped pot of "everything"; it is specifically the language.
@enchantedroz I'm assuming she is French Creole because her people are from Louisiana. I too am also from Houston, but my family are descendants of frenchmen who settled in Louisiana. This is why I said french creole. I don't know for sure, but I'm thinking Haitians have more of a Spanish background, as do French creole's, but not as much as Haitians.
Im from Lousiana and Im Indian and Creole, cant speak it but my Grandma does, anyhew, Creole is Creole it doesnt change depending where u from so dont say Louisiana creole lke we have our own Ethnicity because we dont, its all the same, she was repeating what the man said and not once did she say she knew how to speak it correctly she said her family did, I swear anytime the name Beyonce comes up, even something as simple as this, its always a million haters saying something Negative, smfh
@Treshelle07 *Yeah only Haitian Creole, Louisiana, Guinea-Bissau, etc. are not only not the same heritage, but languages aren't exactly the same either. It's like categorizing a person from Barcelona as South american even though they speak Spanish
@soymezclado44 Ppl born IN HAITI are called Creole. In the States when ppl say theyre Creole they mean Louisiana Creole. Beyonce' is Louisiana Creole not Haitian. Im part Haitian on my moms side.
It sounds like she's speaking Louisiana creole. This does NOT mean Beyonce is Haitian or that her family came from Haiti. And No, I'm not hating. Not all the Blacks in that region came from Haiti. New Orleans was a slave port and many slaves came straight from Africa. Louisiana was already majority French. It's no surprise that Haitian creole and Louisiana creole are similar.
@mkesmoke Is she confused then? Cause Creole from Louisiana is very different from Haitian creole. And I picked up her using the terminology creole as though it's a culture. For Haitians, creole is our language not really our culture or a people. In Louisiana it is a culture/people---this is not denying that much of those origins come from Haitian roots, that's definitely undeniable and part of fact. But still...they've been removed from Haiti for over 100 years now.
@Angrygumballl I happen to be born Haitian. Creole is specifically used for the language. It is not our ethnicity, music, food or art. As a Haitian we consider our ethnicity to be Afro-Caribbean, music-various types like zouk, konpa, koupe kloure and so on, food---depends what you're making---it's not a "creole" type food---it's just Haitian food. Art is just Haitian art. We don't like being lumped into all things Creole--our things are specific to us.
@Angrygumballl I was raised in the United States but born in Haiti. My entire family goes back to the time before independence. You can do a wiki search to find out why our language is called Creole...as a hint we can thank the Spanish and/or Portuguese for that...you know they conquered us first.
@MedusaNegrita And why are people on the eastern portion of Hispaniola called Haitian? Where did that name come from. These are just things I want to make sure you know before we continue our discussion.
@Angrygumballl The name Haiti comes from the that lived on the island originally. We kept the original Arawak name...ie Ayiti which is the creole spelling. Further more I don much of a discussion.
@mkesmoke These fake Creoles are claiming their French and Spanish heritage but deny their Haitian roots. They are frauds and history has exposed them as so. Their Haitian heritage is strong then Spanish and French.
@mkesmoke Mulatto is half this, half that ...Beyonce may have white (French) & Native in her genes, as many blacks, but she is not half-and-have ...Her mother would have to be WHITE for her to be a mulatto...

mann some of y'all in here hatinq cuhsz yall either wanna be haitian or you dont want beyonce to be haitian and beinq haitian is the same mothafukin thinq asz creole where do you think it come from them AMERICA ?? siiiike we speak the same fukin lanquaqe and beinq haitian dont mean you uglier than dan a motha fuka or darker than 3am beinq haitian means you are mixed/multiracial y'all must think yall look bettah,,,,,,, the media has really fuked y'all brains up !!!
@TheMrAmiel Hispanic is NOT a race. That just means that one comes from a Spanish speaking country! Beyonce is of Louisiana Creole descent. Louisiana Creoles come from the lightest to darkest of complexions w/ all types of mixes and looks. There are white people in Louisiana who identify as Creoles.
In Cuba, French and French Creole is a second language because Haitians have had extensive influence on Cuba just like w/ DR. Look it up. Eastern Cuba has so many Haitian descendants.
@MrDreadHead93 Pure NONSENSE! Most Louisiana Creoles have NO HAITIAN DESCENT OR BLOOD WHATSOEVER! PLEASE RID YOUR BRAIN OF THAT MYTH AND STUDY REAL HISTORY GOTTDAMNIT!
@chsn09 smh learn your history creole culture was born in the carribean islands not just haiti orginating from african tounges so theres no way it could have started in lousiana it was brought there throught colonizations and intermixing of cultures through revoloution learn your history sorry for your nonsense
@MrDreadHead93 And the ignorance continues..... SMH! I know my history. And Louisiana Creole history began abs remained in Louisiana. Creole cultures developed thru out the world but my point is that Louisiana Creoles have very little to do w/ Haiti. They're NOT Haitians! Try again smart one!
@chsn09 You must have no read what i wrote i said also througout the carribean islands there is creole culture in the bahammas haiti trinidad grenada jamiaca and the list goes on so if no one you have carribean influnse in the culture no matter what so no you try again smart one brush up on your researsh your rusty SMH
@MrDreadHead93 AND you must have NOT read what I wrote. My point was about the Louisiana Creole people and culture. Not other Creole cultures. And Creole cultures developed everywhere. The first Creole culture developed in Cape Verde in the 1400s. The Caribbean has little to nothing to do w/ Louisiana.
@PrinceNoirAmericain Beyonce has NO Haitian ancestry. Her roots are from the suburban interior and rural parts of Louisiana which have NO links to Haiti!
@Finesse40 Wrong. The Haitian migrants only doubled the New Orleans population. Outside of New Orleans in South Louisiana and other parts have large amounts of Creoles who were not effected by nor have any ties or connections to the Haiti or the Haitian migrations.
@Finesse40 Actually the population of New Orleans doubled and many of those refugees cane in VIA Santiago De Cuba and many of these people of St Domingue descent were culturally Cubanos since many fled to Cuba and were even born there. Many of the Haitians/St.Domingueans were expelled from Cuba because of Napoleon's invasion of Spain which led to French and Spanish relations being bad. So many went to New Orleans but it was a small number of the NOLA population!
@chsn09 that's funny seeing that your culture (food, language, music) comes from haiti. puerto ricans don't speak creole, their culture is completely different. SMH!
@ebbie2009 That's funny that you don't do your research and it is also funny because you are as wrong as MJ in a pants suit! If you knew history you'd know that Puerto Rico recirved waves of people of all races fleeing Haiti for Puerto Rico. A handful of PRs have ancestry from whites and even some ppl of color who had originally been from Haiti.
@chsn09 That has nothing to do with what I wrote. "Louissiana creoles" and Haitians have more in common than Puerto Ricans and Haitians. Every culture is mixed with something, that's not rocket science.
@ebbie2009 It does have to do w/ what YOU wrote! Notice the point I was trying to establish. My point is that just because a few Haitians migrated to a place does NOT make that place Haitian or mean that those people are of Haitian descent. People of Haitian descent went to Puerto Rico lmao and DR and Cuba and many of them have traditions from the Haitian migrations to those places. But that does NOT make them Haitians. BUt yet Haitians want Louisiana Creoles to be Haitian. They're NOT Haitians!
@NTY1221 ikr but they cut off must of the video... beyonce said that her mother is creole, but her mother didnt learn the language back then because she was ashamed or something... so therefore beyonce never learned it....she ask the man who was interviewing her to tell her a word that she would repeat... thats y she only said sak pase because the man said it
@love020799 the person edited this video to prove the important part, so what she asked the man how to say a certaiin word and so what her mother was ashamed. Point is BEYONCE is proud of her creole/haitian heritage. Stop adding other info trying to make it seem some sort of different way
@QueenChristy321 If you reread my comment you would see that i wasnt talking to you..also i know that she is proud of her heritage i saw the whole video n not just a snippet like this video..know what i am saying before you just in to conclusion...somebody said this "You would think she was going to say something else besides "Sak Pase" EVERYONE even non-haitians say that phrase. " I am explaining why she is only saying sak pase. Im not adding any other info tryin to make it seem some other way
@wendyjeanlouis UH hell no, Beyonce does NOT have any Haitian blood or ancestors. She is 100% Louisiana Creole of mixed West-Central African, Native American, and European ancestry. She is definitely more Caucasian though given her French and Spanish heritage. Louisian Creoles have absolutely NOTHING to do w/ Haiti!
@HaitiAyibobo lmaooo, get him dude, but anyway all i know is indians died before the african slaves get to haiti, only a minority survive but the probability is really weak that.even if they did mixed with african i don't think that could be seen on this guy face, the gene is carachteristic had known too many repartition,(logical)
@gwaladrielle not they didnt die. what do u think people from D.R are? and the history books are wrong yes some didi die but most live often blended with the black population etc
This video is SO MISREPRESENTING her, Beyonce isn't Haitian, in fact I don't think her family lineage has any connection to Haiti. She is a LOUISIANA CREOLE there is a BIG difference, most of us do NOT have Haitian ties. There was an influx of Haitians that mixed into our already settled communities. Checkout my vids for more info. She is a distant cousin of mine, WE ARE NOT HAITIAN. (No disrespect, I love Haitians, but MOUN CREOLE LA LWIZYAN -Louisiana Creoles)
@iamcreole So gottdamn true. Louisian Creoles NEVER were and NEVER will be Haitians. People think oh that because a few ppl from Haiti came to New Orleans to pay a temporary visit or permanent stay that everybody is Haitian. We are NOT fucking Haitians. I am tired of our Creole people being misrepresented. It is BULLSHIT and ridiculous. Creoles of Louisiana and Gulf States and the rest of the USA have nothing to do w/ Haiti. It is getting ridiculous.
Okay, I was always under the impression that Creoles from Louisiana was directly from French serrters and plantation owners down there and not from Haitians' migrating to Louisiana. Beyonce says her cousins speak Haitian Creole...idk about that one, it's a stretch
@apfranc75 Beyonce is from pure Louisiana Creole heritage. She has absolutely nothing to do w/ Haiti. Louisiana Creoles are something totally different! Haitians are totally different!
@HaitiAyibobo- I'm a Self- Hater because I'm talking about the history of Haiti??? Do you even know what a self hater is ? First of all I'm not a self hater because a self hater is someone who hates theirselves and dislikes the way God created them. I LOVE everything about myself and appreciate the way God created me so go some where else with that. And don't tell me what I am, because I am of mixed heritage so mind your own business. Thank you , God bless and have a nice day.
@soymezclado44 lmaooo dudes, can u calm down i think u are all some kind of mix, accept it would be a relief.#justsaying#by the way are you kind of light skin?(i'm just curious about all your mixes):-)
sak cap fet.... we all have creole heritage, all blacks come from the same MUURISH tribes that started the slave trades, look up FEZ HAT, look up haitian flag, look up muurs or moors, look up how africa got name, look up shongo or yemaja, look up one black nation....
@osayaaa WHAT R U TALKIN ABOUT? WE AS HAITIANS ARE OF WEST AFRIKAN DESCENT! NO DIFFERENCE! SO WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE HAITIANS WHO FOUGHT IN THE WAR OF 1812 UNDER THAT BASTARD ANDREW JACKSON? MOST STAYED AND RESIDED IN WHAT WAS GA AND LOUISIANA! WHAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE OFFSPRINGS!?? THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BTW HAITIANS AND WEST AFRIKANS IS GEOLOGICAL AND WE WON OUR INDEPENDENCE! U CAN'T SEPARATE US! WE ARE ONE!
@papadoc2k4 huh? If you're saying Haitian Creoles and Louisiana Creoles are the same, thats like saying American Indians and Indians from India are the same. They aren't. Same name, two completely different cultures and people.
She speaks four words. That's it. And she just learned them shortly before going on camera. Beyonce speaks creole to the extent that George Bush speaks latin. If you want to get excited about it, well, what's all the fuss about? I don't understand.
@Pnutt5100 I'm ok with sayin' that she is not Haitian, but stop the bullshit with the Louisiana creole being different. The Louisiana creole is a heritage from the Haitians that came there after fighting along side the US for independence. "her black relatives" what were there stupid? haitians.
@dadefinest305 Louisiana Creoles are totally different from Haitians. Two completely different cultures. Barely any Louisiana Creoles descend from Haitians. And even if they did they would have been Caucasians of French and even Spanish descent, NOT black West/Central Africans. Not all Haitians are black anyway. You need to read Africans In Colonial Louisiana by Gwendolyn Midlo-Hall who even proves that Louisiana Creoles and Haitians are NOT the same!
@dadefinest305 WRONG! Louisiana Creole culture DID NOT come from Haiti, KNOW YOUR HISTORY. The Haitians came in the 1820s, meaning we had more than 150 year history BEFORE them, more than 40,000 people lived in Louisiana when 10,000 Haitians came over, our Creole language started in the 1700s in places like Pointe Coupee, before any Haitians came, KNOW YOUR HISTORY. Haiti was Apart of us, but we are NOT Haitian, and this video is misleading....
@HaitianTruthNetwork NOT TOO SOUND RUDE BUT WHO THE FUCK CARES WHATS RUNNING THROUGH HER VAINS DAMN THE BITCH LOOKS BLACK TO ME! I AM BLCK WEST INDIAN DESCENT IM LIGHTSKIN PROBABLY GOT A THOUSAND AND ONE DIFFERENT RACES RUNNING THROUGH MY VAINS DUE TO SLAVELY WHO CARES IM BLACK ITS ALL THE SAME THING!! BUT I DOUBT BEYONCE IS HAITIAN AS THERY TEND TO BE MORE AFRICAN LOOKING. LOUISIANA CREOLE TENDS TO BE MORE MIXED WITH AFRICAN FRENCH AND NATIVE SO EVEN IF HER GGGGGGGGGGGREAT GRANDAD IS FROM HAITI
@HaitianTruthNetwork SHE WOULD STILL BE LOUSIANA CREOLE AS HAITANS ARE AFRICAN DO U GET MY DRIFT!! HAITIAN CREOLE = AFRICAN!!!!!!!!!!!! LOUISANA CREOLE = AFRICAN FRENCH AND NATIVE AMERICAN!!!! SAME THEY BOTH COME FROM AFRICA
@UrLuv10 You are so wrong about Haitians. Not all Haitians are full african because I am Haitian and I am mixed race ( Spaniard, French, Black, Indian, Asian, Taino, etc. ) . So you dont know anything about Haitians at all.
@Angrygumballl Total rubbish. Most Creoles from/of the states are NOT of Haitian descent. I know for a fact that my Creole ancestors are NOT from Haiti!
@chsn09 Yeah you know that because you have a family tree that spans back 6-8 generations. Truth is you either don't really know, you are a a fake creole or you grand daddy was.
@Angrygumballl Are you trying to tell me about my own people and history? I think I'd know. Read the book Africans in Colonial Louisiana by Gwendolyn Midlo-Hall. That book is a good start. New Orleans is only a small portion of Louisiana state in modern day times and Louisiana territory was triple the size in colonial times than it was now.
@Angrygumballl Haitians that settled came to Louisiana in the New Orleans area. Outside of NOLA in the southern parishes and regions are where the majority of Creoles can be found whose ancestors are originially from there. Haitians that came had been born in or lived in Cuba or had made a pit stop for slaves, goods and refreshments and then moved on. Haitian influence has been EXAGGERATED!
@chsn09 Thats funny because when a group comes in and triples the population growth of New Orleans and doubles the population growth of the entire state of Louisiana I would consider that more then just influence. See you could sit here and make these bogus statements all you want, but I am armed with the truth and the numbers don't lie. What was population of the entire state of Louisiana before 1790?
@Angrygumballl LOL! Keep in mind that modern day Louisiana state is only a small portion of what comprised the Louisiana Territory during Spanish and French colonial times. Haitians that did settled landed and remained mainly in New Orleans only via Cuba. Southern Louisiana are areas of modern day Louisiana that have populations from the beginning of colonial times that never descended from Haitians and were NEVER effected by migrations of Hatians. Many of the Haitians had been Cubanized(Cuba)
@Angrygumballl In 1809 the population of New Orleans doubled almost overnight because of French-speaking refugees from Cuba. You read that right, French-speaking refugees from Cuba -- part of a wave of music and culture that emigrated from east to west in the wake of the Haitian Revolution.
@Angrygumballl Louisiana Creole was well developed long before the massive immigration of Haitians to Louisiana after the outbreak of the Haitian Revolution
@HaitianTruthNetwork You need to re watch the video! She was speaking what the man told her to speak. She said that she does not know the Creole language from her Louisiana roots because she was not raised speaking it! Beyonce has nothing to do w/ Haiti!
"Our whole culture is steeped in Haiti and steeped in voodoo," says Sallie Ann Glassman, the shop's owner and a leading New Orleans voodoo priestess. "That mix of African slaves and European Catholics — it certainly left its footprint all over."
Another thing the Saint-Domingue refugees brought to New Orleans: voodoo. At the Island of Salvation Botanica on Piety Street, rows of candles with images of Ayizan, Loko and other voodoo deities sit next to ritual perfumes and gris-gris bags — small cloth bags filled with herbs, oils and other items used to cast spells. Dried chicken feet bedecked with colored feathers (to repel thieves) dangle from nails.
Over the years, the Haitian riz national morphed into red beans and rice — a New Orleans staple — and the city's brightly colored Creole cottages are direct descendents of similar homes found in Haiti, Elie says.
The refugees doubled the city's population and infused New Orleans with Franco-Caribbean traditions, including theater companies, elaborate dances and black political activists, Clark says. Also, as Saint-Domingue's lucrative sugarcane fields burned during the revolution there, New Orleans' sugar industry soared.
"A lot of the things about New Orleans we view as unique came from those Haitian refugees," Clark says.
And she is Louisiana creole.

RhapsodicBlues 4 months ago
she is not creole speaking from haiti she is mulatto from louisiana
mkesmoke 5 months ago 21
@mkesmoke Is she confused then? Cause Creole from Louisiana is very different from Haitian creole. And I picked up her using the terminology creole as though it's a culture. For Haitians, creole is our language not really our culture or a people. In Louisiana it is a culture/people---this is not denying that much of those origins come from Haitian roots, that's definitely undeniable and part of fact. But still...they've been removed from Haiti for over 100 years now.
MedusaNegrita 4 months ago
@MedusaNegrita Being Creole means everything to Haitian, not just language. Its their ethnicity, music, food, and art.
Angrygumballl 4 months ago
@Angrygumballl I happen to be born Haitian. Creole is specifically used for the language. It is not our ethnicity, music, food or art. As a Haitian we consider our ethnicity to be Afro-Caribbean, music-various types like zouk, konpa, koupe kloure and so on, food---depends what you're making---it's not a "creole" type food---it's just Haitian food. Art is just Haitian art. We don't like being lumped into all things Creole--our things are specific to us.
MedusaNegrita 4 months ago
@MedusaNegrita Ok cool. Not going to tell you what to call yourself, but how long did you lived in Haiti? Why is your language considered Creole?
Angrygumballl 3 months ago
@Angrygumballl I was raised in the United States but born in Haiti. My entire family goes back to the time before independence. You can do a wiki search to find out why our language is called Creole...as a hint we can thank the Spanish and/or Portuguese for that...you know they conquered us first.
MedusaNegrita 1 month ago
@MedusaNegrita And why are people on the eastern portion of Hispaniola called Haitian? Where did that name come from. These are just things I want to make sure you know before we continue our discussion.
Angrygumballl 3 months ago
@Angrygumballl The name Haiti comes from the that lived on the island originally. We kept the original Arawak name...ie Ayiti which is the creole spelling. Further more I don much of a discussion.

Beyonce is NOT Haitian. The type of creole she talking about is a mixture of black Hispanic and Indian.
TheMrAmiel 6 months ago
@TheMrAmiel Hispanic is NOT a race. That just means that one comes from a Spanish speaking country! Beyonce is of Louisiana Creole descent. Louisiana Creoles come from the lightest to darkest of complexions w/ all types of mixes and looks. There are white people in Louisiana who identify as Creoles.
chsn09 6 months ago
In Cuba, French and French Creole is a second language because Haitians have had extensive influence on Cuba just like w/ DR. Look it up. Eastern Cuba has so many Haitian descendants.

MrDreadHead93 6 months ago
@MrDreadHead93 And the ignorance continues..... SMH! I know my history. And Louisiana Creole history began abs remained in Louisiana. Creole cultures developed thru out the world but my point is that Louisiana Creoles have very little to do w/ Haiti. They're NOT Haitians! Try again smart one!

MrDreadHead93 6 months ago
@MrDreadHead93 AND you must have NOT read what I wrote. My point was about the Louisiana Creole people and culture. Not other Creole cultures. And Creole cultures developed everywhere. The first Creole culture developed in Cape Verde in the 1400s. The Caribbean has little to nothing to do w/ Louisiana.
chsn09 6 months ago
@PrinceNoirAmericain Beyonce has NO Haitian ancestry. Her roots are from the suburban interior and rural parts of Louisiana which have NO links to Haiti!
chsn09 6 months ago
@Finesse40 Wrong. The Haitian migrants only doubled the New Orleans population. Outside of New Orleans in South Louisiana and other parts have large amounts of Creoles who were not effected by nor have any ties or connections to the Haiti or the Haitian migrations.
chsn09 6 months ago
@Finesse40 Actually the population of New Orleans doubled and many of those refugees cane in VIA Santiago De Cuba and many of these people of St Domingue descent were culturally Cubanos since many fled to Cuba and were even born there. Many of the Haitians/St.Domingueans were expelled from Cuba because of Napoleon's invasion of Spain which led to French and Spanish relations being bad. So many went to New Orleans but it was a small number of the NOLA population!
chsn09 6 months ago
@PrinceNoirAmericain I don't know why so many Haitians claim my Louisiana Creole people. Smh!
chsn09 6 months ago
@chsn09 that's funny seeing that your culture (food, language, music) comes from haiti. puerto ricans don't speak creole, their culture is completely different. SMH!
ebbie2009 6 months ago
@ebbie2009 That's funny that you don't do your research and it is also funny because you are as wrong as MJ in a pants suit! If you knew history you'd know that Puerto Rico recirved waves of people of all races fleeing Haiti for Puerto Rico. A handful of PRs have ancestry from whites and even some ppl of color who had originally been from Haiti.
chsn09 6 months ago
@chsn09 That has nothing to do with what I wrote. "Louissiana creoles" and Haitians have more in common than Puerto Ricans and Haitians. Every culture is mixed with something, that's not rocket science.
ebbie2009 6 months ago
@ebbie2009 It does have to do w/ what YOU wrote! Notice the point I was trying to establish. My point is that just because a few Haitians migrated to a place does NOT make that place Haitian or mean that those people are of Haitian descent. People of Haitian descent went to Puerto Rico lmao and DR and Cuba and many of them have traditions from the Haitian migrations to those places. But that does NOT make them Haitians. BUt yet Haitians want Louisiana Creoles to be Haitian. They're NOT Haitians!
chsn09 6 months ago

This video is SO MISREPRESENTING her, Beyonce isn't Haitian, in fact I don't think her family lineage has any connection to Haiti. She is a LOUISIANA CREOLE there is a BIG difference, most of us do NOT have Haitian ties. There was an influx of Haitians that mixed into our already settled communities. Checkout my vids for more info. She is a distant cousin of mine, WE ARE NOT HAITIAN. (No disrespect, I love Haitians, but MOUN CREOLE LA LWIZYAN -Louisiana Creoles)
iamcreole 8 months ago
@iamcreole So gottdamn true. Louisian Creoles NEVER were and NEVER will be Haitians. People think oh that because a few ppl from Haiti came to New Orleans to pay a temporary visit or permanent stay that everybody is Haitian. We are NOT fucking Haitians. I am tired of our Creole people being misrepresented. It is BULLSHIT and ridiculous. Creoles of Louisiana and Gulf States and the rest of the USA have nothing to do w/ Haiti. It is getting ridiculous.
chsn09 6 months ago
Okay, I was always under the impression that Creoles from Louisiana was directly from French serrters and plantation owners down there and not from Haitians' migrating to Louisiana. Beyonce says her cousins speak Haitian Creole...idk about that one, it's a stretch

THEHAITIAN1804 11 months ago
@dadefinest305 Louisiana Creoles are totally different from Haitians. Two completely different cultures. Barely any Louisiana Creoles descend from Haitians. And even if they did they would have been Caucasians of French and even Spanish descent, NOT black West/Central Africans. Not all Haitians are black anyway. You need to read Africans In Colonial Louisiana by Gwendolyn Midlo-Hall who even proves that Louisiana Creoles and Haitians are NOT the same!
chsn09 6 months ago
@dadefinest305 WRONG! Louisiana Creole culture DID NOT come from Haiti, KNOW YOUR HISTORY. The Haitians came in the 1820s, meaning we had more than 150 year history BEFORE them, more than 40,000 people lived in Louisiana when 10,000 Haitians came over, our Creole language started in the 1700s in places like Pointe Coupee, before any Haitians came, KNOW YOUR HISTORY. Angrygumballl 6 months ago
@Angrygumballl Are you trying to tell me about my own people and history? I think I'd know. Read the book Africans in Colonial Louisiana by Gwendolyn Midlo-Hall. That book is a good start. New Orleans is only a small portion of Louisiana state in modern day times and Louisiana territory was triple the size in colonial times than it was now.
chsn09 6 months ago
@Angrygumballl Haitians that settled came to Louisiana in the New Orleans area. Outside of NOLA in the southern parishes and regions are where the majority of Creoles can be found whose ancestors are originially from there. Haitians that came had been born in or lived in Cuba or had made a pit stop for slaves, goods and refreshments and then moved on. Haitian influence has been EXAGGERATED!
chsn09 6 months ago
@chsn09 Thats funny because when a group comes in and triples the population growth of New Orleans and doubles the population growth of the entire state of Louisiana I would consider that more then just influence. See you could sit here and make these bogus statements all you want, but I am armed with the truth and the numbers don't lie. What was population of the entire state of Louisiana before 1790?
Angrygumballl 6 months ago
@Angrygumballl LOL! Keep in mind that modern day Louisiana state is only a small portion of what comprised the Louisiana Territory during Spanish and French colonial times. Haitians that did settled landed and remained mainly in New Orleans only via Cuba. Southern Louisiana are areas of modern day Louisiana that have populations from the beginning of colonial times that never descended from Haitians and were NEVER effected by migrations of Hatians. Many of the Haitians had been Cubanized(Cuba)
chsn09 6 months ago
@Angrygumballl In 1809 the population of New Orleans doubled almost overnight because of French-speaking refugees from Cuba. You read that right, French-speaking refugees from Cuba -- part of a wave of music and culture that emigrated from east to west in the wake of the Haitian Revolution.
chsn09 6 months ago
@Angrygumballl Louisiana Creole was well developed long before the massive immigration of Haitians to Louisiana after the outbreak of the Haitian Revolution

New Orleans, Haiti linked by history and tragedy

By Rick Jervis, USA TODAY

"Our whole culture is steeped in Haiti and steeped in voodoo," says Sallie Ann Glassman, the shop's owner and a leading New Orleans voodoo priestess. "That mix of African slaves and European Catholics — it certainly left its footprint all over."
westindianfille 1 year ago
Another thing the Saint-Domingue refugees brought to New Orleans: voodoo. At the Island of Salvation Botanica on Piety Street, rows of candles with images of Ayizan, Loko and other voodoo deities sit next to ritual perfumes and gris-gris bags — small cloth bags filled with herbs, oils and other items used to cast spells. Dried chicken feet bedecked with colored feathers (to repel thieves) dangle from nails.
westindianfille 1 year ago
Over the years, the Haitian riz national morphed into red beans and rice — a New Orleans staple — and the city's brightly colored Creole cottages are direct descendents of similar homes found in Haiti, Elie says.
westindianfille 1 year ago
The refugees doubled the city's population and infused New Orleans with Franco-Caribbean traditions, including theater companies, elaborate dances and black political activists, Clark says. Also, as Saint-Domingue's lucrative sugarcane fields burned during the revolution there, New Orleans' sugar industry soared.
"A lot of the things about New Orleans we view as unique came from those Haitian refugees," Clark says.
