Keine downsizing ?
used to work on those turbo 1 and 2s in the late 80s at cannock automobiles in staffordshire, clive greenhalgh used to import and sell them, then he moved on to own central tvr in birmingham, great guy and great cars.
It's funny, to make these car sportive, they had to redefine the setup of the car completely, because the basic setup is that bad ... well, it's based on a Renault. Sadly, after, it still is a Renault.
The mid-mounted engine Renault 5 Turbo RWD, never used a 6 cylinder lump (due to engine dimensions) either for road versions or for competition. All of them were 4 cylinder turbocharged.
1980: Turbo 1 1397cc
1983: Turbo 2 1397cc (1421cc for the last 200 units)
1984: Maxi Turbo 1527cc
Maxi Turbo, Cevennes and Tour de Corse were just made as competition versions.
That is right, but if you read all the comments, part of them in spanish, you will know that car has received an engine trasplant (V6) by the owner, and the car is the version Turbo 2 (4 cylinder from factory), not the Maxi.
the Clio showing what it is really like....excessive uncontrolable oversteer that will result in you going backwards through a hedge....love the old Turbo 2 though
In my opinion the Clio V6 is the perfect version of what a mini supercar should look like. It sounds (in real) like a supercar, drives like it. And most importantly, it is savage. That is what a sport car should be. No electronics, no Gps, no helps... Nothing...
Nicely said. I'm not a Renault fan by any means but their reputation for savage hot hatches really is unrivalled. The 5 Turbo really was something else altogether. As you said the word is savage!
make sure you've got really big balls though :D cuz that's what it takes to drive one of them...I'm a Clio fan, actually I've got a 2003 1,4 16v one and even today it's an absolute riot, and I've got a Peugeot 207 RC as well and all I can say is that French hot hatches can be absolute joy provided you're skilled enough to drive them right...they just give you a big smile in your face :)
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS!!!!! in 1964 13 year old Elisa Johnson was raped and murdered in North Carolina, her body was found with multiple stab wounds, and now that you've read this, every night she will come to your house and hang from your closet with glowing red eyes, the only way to stop this is to post this to 10 other videos.
They should give the exemplo of using safety equipment (helmet, etc..) in a racetrack... mainly when they don't know what the hell they are doing! Cheers from Brasil...
he needs to learn how to drive a rwd!! and the engine is midish more to the back but still, i look the old car more carecter and grip as you can notice but then the r5 is so much lighter
Le comparatif des deux voitures est exemplaire, la r5 me faisait palir d' envie à l' époque alors que j' étais tout petie; pour les deux voitures qui sont de série, pas besoin de retouches esthétiques !!

does any of the renault 5 buffs know if there was a road going version of the renault 5 turbo2 maxi v6 turbo?
zoomer46 3 years ago
All the versions of the Renault 5 with central engine had just 4 cylinders
kikekike69 3 years ago
the last of the turbo2 was v6 turbo, and called maxi, but was there a road version.??jean ragnotti and didier auriol rallied them .

i found one, here on youtube, type ''Renault 5 V6 Alpine ex Turbo II Maxi Turbo''

I throw in the towel. Instead of asking obvious data about the subject, you could search for it by yourself.
The 1st answer is NO, ALL THE MID-MOUNTED ENGINE RENAULT 5 WERE JUST 4 CYLINDER.
The 2nd: just read again my answer (Maxi Turbo, Cevennes and Tour de Corse were just made as competition versions.)
I see this is a complete waste of time... Sad
