I got to see Jerry Reed a few years before he died, and I never laughed so hard in my life. Awesome musician too. Unfortunately, due to his rather lighthearted Southern image, people may not know what a talent he was.

Here's the funny thing about this song. A buddy of mine and I entered a car rally back in high school (1981), and we broke about every traffic law on the books (including doing a very illegal u-turn AROUND a squad car). No, we didn't get away with it. Years later, during a bull session, someone made the wisecrack about what event in our lives would we set good music to. This song was the first thing I though of for the car rally.

@ndweaver123 First...the Trans Am...absolute badass car with the 6.6 liter engine. A friend of mine had one in college...was a beast!...I never drove it :(

The movie...Watched it a few days ago...fun as when I was a child at home watching it on TV...The fun of the movie has stood the test of time.

The song...I never liked country, but this is one of the exceptions. I have come here to work on covering it. Jerry Reed's name will live on in music...that is for sure. Thanks for posting it!
