  • Just totally awesome!

  • The female vocals are so unfitting for this song. If anything, they should be way back in the mix.

  • I am in love thrice! I have seen the Dan scores of times, even have my vanity plates with Dan references. Thanks to the group for still sounding so great.

  • Jon Herington is such a tasty player

  • Steely Dan has such a nice variety of music.

  • ...but why's there only one drummer?

  • I think if Steel Dan and Yanni got together they could rock the nation.

  • @alrozz Oh no you didn't Steely Dan and YANNI in the same sentence?

  • @alrozz I think they compose great and the style is something to adventure into like Zappa did, you just never know, ya never know.

  • @alrozz Kevin Nealon. LOL

  • @alrozz

Yanni should be blindfolded, given a cigarette (a cheap one), placed against a wall and summarlity shot.

  • Fab! Thanks Steely Dan for introducing me to Charlie Parker before I even knew who Charlie Parker was. A wonderful band, launched me into a massive world of music - eternally grateful.

  • @Thatotherjim : me 3.....

  • this is great the girls sing!

  • There are bands then there is steely dan

  • The Dan only uses top flight session talent ..... these guys are on another level... master your fretboard or you dont hang with The Dan.

  • The Dan takes all and makes them understand what it is all about.....

  • we will spend a dizzzy weekend smacked into a trance..

  • @aaronamccoy daisy/dazey weekend

  • @dell4bq the reference is to dizzy gillespie, smacked out in a trance to charlie parker, he shot heroin

  • @aaronamccoy Actually the Daisy/Dazey is a direct reference to heroin not Dizzy Gillespie. Dazey and smacked into a trance is a no brainer. A coincidence about Dizzy Gillespie sort of fitting into a reference in a song about Charlie Parker but that is all it is a coincidence.

  • Great to hear this again, Pity the horns weren't as .. the Ladies.. It's not like they DO anything. Dressage for a Horse,, hmmm.. Horns Dress UP.

  • スティーリー・ダンは大好きだがこれはひどい。ひどすぎる。

  • @vw195858 Yeah, what he said.

  • :26-:36 =WOAH!

why wasn't the camera on Jon???

  • oooppss

Meant that "dark and mellow" comment for HERE IN THE WESTERN WORLD.

    Not this song..

    my bad...

    But still....great music anyhow. Right?

  • Dark and mellow. Good with a dark beer and when the demons come to haunt at night under the pale candlelight flickering on the wall...

  • carolyn leonhart looks and sounds so sexy.

  • Saw Carolyn from the 11th row this summer at the Borgata, and she's absolutely beautiful. She's now Carolyn Leonhart-Escoffery, and has a 1 year old baby. Her brother is the trumpeter, Michael Leonhart. Truly amazing band.

  • Carlos, do you (or anyone else) have live video of Dirty Work from the 2000 or 2003 tour?

  • man ... this is awsome ... pretzel logic is a great album !!

  • who is the lead guitarist??

  • Jon Herington is playing lead here, though Becker handles all the leads on Two Against Nature and Everything Must Go.

  • One of the best middle 8s ever!

  • Singer 'Callie' has a unique 'vibe' of her own...she's always smilin' and seems to build a rapport with the audience with all her hand gestures and, again, her winning smile.

  • Are you referring to Cynthia Calhoun (on the right)? If so, she's always like that on stage.

  • Yes, Yung....I was referring to Ms. Calhoun! A ray of sunshine she is!

  • "Steely Dan" at "Pine Knob" - do I detect a theme going on here?! lol what next? Big Cock at the Huge Boner?!!!

  • F*ck the drummer is superb !! he only looks like 19 years old .....

Steely dan ... the dogs bollocks !!

  • One (there are 2 drummers on the original) of the original drummers (Jeff Porcaro) was 17 when he played on the recording.

  • He is doing Lawrence Welk intro's THAANK YOUUU GIRLS!!!!........That's the late Great Cornelius Bumbus on sax.

  • id say jeff was more like 19 or 20 when he recorded this... he was born in '54 and the album was released in '75... so if they had recorded this a year before in '74 he would have been about 20... still rediculous for his age! long live jeff!

  • Check out the fast moving harmonies on the bridge section. A new chord on almost every beat. Pure bebop!

  • i listen to this in my car a lot..its such a cool part!!

  • sick!!

  • Excellent.

  • 52nd Street is the junction

  • This is a band that I could never ever get tired of listening to their music all day....just fantastic

  • Great song (album version much better) but this video suffers from lackluster sound quality and video production. Steely Dan deserves better.

  • @tom1600x1050 give me a break. although you may be right about the sound quality and video production, to belittle the generous individual who shared this with fans on you tube is petty. Steely Dan deserves better? So does carlospc.....

  • carlock rocks. the double drum part is covered flawlessly by him.

  • Nice guitar work by Jon Herrington - ladies sound great and look Hot as usual !

  • Exactly. His work on Jeff "Skunk" Baxter's original leads is amazing!

  • WOW!!

  • I think it is cool when you are a rock legend and you can share a little of the spotlight with your back up singers.

  • Flex, indeed! Dang.

  • this song is so cool...I'll take flex thank you very much

  • brazen life out....no-one sees the 30 seconds of sheer terror at the end...

  • Sorry what??

  • Dorothy salutes you pieces of shit, wherever you might be......

  • You could make a pretty strong case that Steely Dan songs contain some of the best female backing vocals ever recorded. And how cool is Fagen's nod to Lawrence Welk as he thanks the girls. Only those of us old enough to have suffered through that awful

champagne music our parents watched on Saturday nights would catch that reference.

  • Man, I don't care how badly he screws up, I'd still rather hear Fagen sing it.

  • Donald likes to take a break on the long shows, especially now, when he's still singing them in the original keys. It's not easy to sing a whole 2 hour show at the edge of your range, so between the girls and a few Walter tunes, he gets to rest.

  • I agree to an extent. He is still singing a lot of these songs in the original keys now in his early 60's. At the same time, you want to hear Donald singing these tunes, not the backup singers.

  • Finally....SOMEONE (Rumpl4skn) with some idea of what it takes to perform on stage, on tour, show after show. And like another person said, it's nice they give the other musicians a chance to shine!

I would have enjoyed being at this performance.

  • Ouch. That g-r-o-o-v-e !

  • And his ride pattern is killin fast and precise.

  • Agree, amazing stick control!!

  • carlock is just savage on the kit. i get to see them in phoenix this sunday and tucson on tuesday. can't wait!

  • ah! Carlocks left hand is rippin!

  • One of my favorites. I LOVE that "we will spend a dizzy weekend.." section. Probably my favorite Steely Dan moment.

  • thats what you call fucking groooove...man those girls can sing...

  • Steely dan is an amazingly awesome band

  • Take Donald's voice out of this, and you've got a nice little Las Vegas revue tune!

    Pants suits at the slots!!

  • Very cool from the coolest band on the planet...ever.

  • The very definition of cool...

  • carlos is there anyway i could download this show from some place?

  • Seen this one before, but it's still terrific to hear the girls sing it. My favorite song off of LOGIC.
