  • In the 60's in Norfolk Virginia area when I was a kid, these planes flew all the time. You could look up in the air at any time and see one flying. I think they called them "Neptune Patrol Planes" back then. This brings back old memorys.

  • @ab4op The P3 Orions surerceded the P-2 Neptune patrol planes in the 1960s, and are still used by many countries around the world.

  • @Kahu1958 Thanks for the info, I did a little more looking after I commeted and found the Neptune. They look a lot alike, plus I was just a kid then and wouldn't know one from the other, but I did remember the name.

  • nice all bright and fresh heading home from a group service

  • Beautiful run, love the sound!

  • My Dad flew this baby for 20 years. God bless the Papa-3s.

  • Are they being modified like our Canadian Aurora? Eg Block 1, 2, 3?

  • They are about 24 years old and do get modified occassionally, but what those mods are is classified.

  • I work on The CP-140 Aurora, which is the equivalent of a P3....Ours get modified, and are undergoing a major upgrade right now....these are actually like 60s technology...Canada first got theirs in or around 1980-1983...i just wanted to know the diff btween ours and theirs.

  • They are P3B layout (-14 engines) purchased new in 1964/65.

outer Wings and Horizontal stab replaced a few years ago. Various avionics mods over the years.

  • P-3's Gotta keep 'em flying....One of the best and most rliable airframes ever built.

  • I love em more!!

  • P3 Orions, I LOVE EM' !
