  • Simply Beautiful :)

  • Jim Morrison is the best sorry

  • fuck i love the doors' version it's more powerful

  • Thumbs up if you like

    Thumbs down if you hate.

  • Who cares about his sexuality ? I'm here to comment on how great he sang that , i knew he would go far . Well done Will i think you are fab xxx

  • will sings this song his way hes not trying to cover the doorsand what i saw of himimean there front singer he lokkeddrunk on stage he stagered off mythras90

  • Will Young has such a unique, classy, recognisable voice. His gayness doesn't particularly bother me. At the end of the day it's not like he goes on like Louis Spence you know what I mean.

  • dude has no right doing this doors song he has a good voice though but forever a doors song i just want to thank robby kreiger for writing this great song and if no one thinks robby didnt write it watch the movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love this version wills made this song his ownsimply love his voice and personality mythras90x

  • Well I love Will, always have, and for the record If I was a gay man I would hunt this guy down with a pack of hounds. (I am a girl and therefore have no chance)

  • Will is sooo sweet :) love the song!

  • Love it! Brilliant! x

  • THE DOORSS ARE MUCH BETTER! BLEAH! AND WHERE ARE THE KEYBOARDS?

  • He never had one bad week in the competition, everything he sang was flawless. He was a well deserved winner.

  • AMAZING VOICE! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this version!

  • I am a Doorsfan but I love this version

  • He is perfect, one of the best voices, listen to his live...

I don't understand how people can not give credit to him for his talent. Will is a real pop idol!

    Go Will, you rock!

  • I wish he gave credit to the original artists who created and performed this song. HINT: THE DOORS! what's up with the slow background music? ANYWAY, good vocals.

  • He is the kind of person that I call Supersweet guy... no offence, he sings great!

  • well, im sorry but take the gay factor out and there's nothing else there. there's a million people out there than can sing like this. he has no distinguishing characteristics to his voice and the song was a terrible choice.

  • @silowhore This audition was 9 years ago!

Strange that you have remarked that Will hasn't any distinguishing characteristics to his voice, from day one in the audition period of the show the judges always mentioned his UNIQUE voice.

  • @silowhore It's your opinion of course but his unique voice was mentioned often during Pop Idol and after almost 10 years from winning the show...I believe the proof is for all to see. He has maintained a fabulous career of selling albums and acting.

  • @silowhore you do know, that when he won nobody yet knew that he is gay? so there must be something besides his sexuality that kept people voting for him

  • @silowhore You obviously are one of the million you refer to, so upload your video...love to see you match Will.

Oh, by the way, you know the old saying....if you can't dance, can't sing and can't act, be a critic........let's see if it's true////awaiting your upload.........

  • I am in love with this man. How am I only now discovering his talent?

  • Jim is turning in his grave

  • T-A-L-E-N-T! The boy can sing, period.

  • Originally by the doors. Once upon a time, the most famous song in the world. Will Young did a good job, but nowhere near as decent as the doors.

  • @lvivboi Why can't folk accept that he wasn't competing with the Doors. He was in a talent show and was competing with the contestants. The choice of the song that he liked it. It wasn't his intention to ruin it, he just did his own version for crying out loud. He obviously knew he couldn't sing it in the same way as Morrison.

  • I always preferred Jose's version so the first time I heard Will do this I was so delighted! And it's a beautiful song no matter what version.

  • Jose Feliciano's version was released in 1968, 2 years after The Doors recorded this song. The writers were very impressed with the cover version performed by Jose Feliciano and liked that version very much.

  • An outstanding vocal. I remember watching this live and was speechless. Just a superb voice.

  • send me aword puzzle mythras90 ha ha ijust love our will

  • loved this song on pop idle andthe country spoke for willxmythrasx

  • very beautifully performed! Love it!

  • very beautifully performed!! Love it!

  • Robby wrote the song not Jose feliciano he did a cover of it in 1968. The doors version came out 1967 which is much better duh

  • dont mind listening to will young at all wouldnt mind going to see him actually in concert

  • For all the people who are making a big deal about it, Will is doing Jose Feliciano's version, not The Doors. Jose's version came out years before The Doors did it.

  • Dont know where you get your dodgy info. The Doors wrote this song!!! Robbie Krieger in particular wrote this so Jose Feliciano's version is obviously LATER! And as for The Doors loving this cover version maybe some of them did, but Jim Morrison HATED it.

  • @celebrityqueen713

Joses version did not come out years before the doors.............considering THEY wrote it. Get your facts straight!!!

  • Will never get near the Original, this song shouldn't be covered. Ever.

  • sexy

  • Love this version. His outfit is sooo 2002 though!

  • @Hattie1992 I agree! Although it was 2002 when this audition was recorded so the outfit was ok then,

  • better than EVER

  • He said higher!!! on national television!!!

    Like if you get it!!

  • @Thecries2 Just like morrison did on that one show

  • better than the original and.... Thank You mr Jose Feliciano for your complete "re-wrinting"!

  • @ItalianSportcars not better then the doors i

  • morrison was better

  • Every cover that this man sung on Pop Idol was as good if not better ( mostly better) than the original. He has a magnificent voice & definitely that so-called X-Factor that Simon has been searching for in vain ever since!! Just listen to his perfect intonation and melodic voice compared to a screamer that folk are alleging deserved to win the current X-factor contest (accurately labelled Karaoke by Bruce Forsyth-NO 1 has matched Will Young on any of these contests to date for talent and voice!

  • so sick!! i remember seeing this live and couldn't help following Will to this day!! he's the man!!

  • I love Jim Morrison, he was a brilliant frontman and his poetry is unbelievable, he was lyrically talented, Robby Krieger wrote the music and the 1st verse of this song, Jim wrote the rest, but I actually love Will Young's version of it too.

  • that dude can sing!

  • Fukin love this song, Doors,Feliciano and even Will Youngs version :o)

  • My Dad's name is Jose Feliciano :D

  • thank you. So far, I thought that no one will break "Light My Fire." That sounds like shitty advertising song in this embodiment. Horrible. Robby, Robby, Robby what are you talking about?? Your song sound good ONLY in Doors original arrangement.

  • Whether Morrison helped write the song or not is somewhat irrelevant to the fact that Morrison never sang the song in a way that might have highlighted the song's potential. Will Young's version changes the song's "personality" quite a lot, in an excellent way, I think.

  • This is fantastic! It's not about who does it, but how they do it! He's great! :)

  • Brilliant!

  • good god peeps it's only a song .......... chill

  • Jim wrote ''the time to hesitate is through..'' part

  • simply put, brilliant!

  • He did such a beautiful job on this song, his voice was perfect for it and the arrangement

  • its a pretty good cover, its really slick and smooth. the lyrics just sound bad...he sings it very well, he has a beautiful voice, but his beautiful voice doesnt cut the mustard. Light my fire is supposed to be like a passionate command filled with force and vigor. this is just a very difficult song to cover because of that fact. im not asking will young to become jim morrison... this is merely my opinion

  • Prefer The Doors version. He didn't ruin the song, he just changed it to a more vocal orientated song, instead of the band type of The Doors. Depends what you like, really.

  • @shawn976431 I though his version was absolutely Amazing, no need to be a hater.

  • Loved hearing Will sing this again at his summer shows this year. Heard the Doors version on the radio a couple of weeks ago and had forgotten ust jhow grim it was. Much prefer the Jose Feliciano / Will style.

  • @shawn976431 i see you are 22? mmmmm why talk like a little teen, grow up

  • I think Jim would be very upsted of this, when I watch this is like I'm watching the Buick commercial and let's be honest, this is not a very good version, it's the cover of the cover of the cover, and when you do that nothing good came out

  • WHY WHY WHY Do People Come On Here Slagging Off Will..Fair Enough Everyone Has Their Opinions But If you Dont Like The guy Then WHY Are You Watching His Video's?

  • @tessinetly - i think u r little wrong with your statement. Light My Fire is not of Jose Feliciano's. He covered it in 1969. The song was largely written by Robby Krieger (u r correct), and credited to the entire band. The song was originally performed by The Doors which was recorded in August 1966 and released the first week of January 1967. It spent three weeks at #1 on the Billboard's Hot 100, and one week on the Cashbox Top 100.

  • @talk2ankanjim I'm not sure you read my entire comment. I did say that it was written by RK and that this was a cover of JF "version". I realize that the Doors recorded this first but it is also true that JF won a Grammy for his cover version of this song in 1969.

  • he is so adorable....

  • @Rowdyguy27 its not as bad as ur vile mouth tho is it !

  • He maybe gay, but he's a good singer.

  • @rbk17 Just like Will Youngs voice. Don,t want it to sound like the original. But i do like the original also.GOOD OLD MR BEAN

  • LOVE THIS VERSION

  • Not even close to the original.

  • @ciotheboss homophobe

  • Good research and interesting point, however the version of Jim Morrison is way beyond this version and the version of Jose Feliciano's of any other version that exist including the version of those who get drunk and sing this song in a jukebox

  • What a load of wankers commenting here. Live and let live . This guy has a great voice.

  • @schmittyc1993 turning over in his grave? He's spinning like a freaking dynamo. The authorities in Paris must be wondering where that massive magnetic field that's shorting out electronics across the city is coming from.

  • @drrdragoss Gay is it..? It's well documented that Jim Morrison liked to hire male hookers from the Strip....he'd TAKE anything, FUCK anything, DO anything....he was MUCH cooler and progressive than most of the bozos who claim to understand The Doors...which is why he grew broed with the whole thing!

  • If you investigate Morrison's life thoroughly you'll find he used to hire male gigolos from the Strip!!!! Just like his female counterpart, Joplin, no experience was TOO alien or TOO subversive or TOO freaky NOT to be explored....he would have found your downer on the word 'Gay' so reactionary and ...'like er...square, man...!'

  • 1) this song was written by Robby Krieger not Jim Morrison. 2) this is a cover of Jose Feliciano's version not the Doors. 3) Mr. Feliciano won the 1969 Grammy for his version of this song. In an interview with Robby Krieger he said "I owe a big debt to Jose Feliciano, he's the one, when he did it everyone started doing it.". So maybe the haters here could do some research and get their facts straight before they make bigger fools of themselves. Great job Will

  • @tessinetly - @tessinetly - i think u r little wrong with your statement. Light My Fire is not of Jose Feliciano's. He covered it in 1969. • @tessinetly Your facts are wrong, dude 1. Only the first verse and chorus were written by Robby Kriger. The second verse was written by Jim. and 2. Even though when Jose started singing it everyone did, the doors version is still considered one of the all time great songs, because nobody could replicate them

  • @tessinetly Actually, it was written by Robby Krieger AND Jim Morrison. So, as far as "haters getting their facts straight"...maybe you should take your own advice. If you don't believe me, check out "The Doors: The Complete Illustrated Lyrics."

  • @tessinetly Robby wrote most of the song. Jim wrote the other lyrics.

  • @tessinetly Jim Morrison did participate in the writing of the song. Your the one who needs their facts straight.

  • @tessinetly Robby is credited with writing the song... but Robby only wrote the first verse... the second verse is written by Jim Morrison... look at the doors documentary...maybe you should do your some research yourself... :)

  • @tessinetly -Actually it was Krieger's Idea with the 1st verse and Morrison added the 2nd verse, "get your facts straight", don't forget who helped write.

  • shut up all of you! will young is great he has such a beautiful voice it gives me shivers. i love him.

  • @schmittyc1993

shows you know nothing about Jim Morrison - he was a poet. Look at Will Young - he loves the song, the audience and camera. And they love him. That is obvious. This is closer to Jose Feliciano's acoustic version than JM's poetic masterpiece but I choose to believe he would have been flattered by both.

Forget the grave spinning. Rejoice in the beauty and passion of the song !

  • w the doors

  • Focking hell.... I am amazed to read al these Fascist comments... Shoot somebody for singing a song??? mate stick to your records and enjoy them.... but don´t blame anyone for doing what they like.... OK, you don´t like it, so, state your opinion and that´s it... Go spread your narroe mind elsewhere!!! enjoy, if you know how to do that!! :))))

  • HE DID LIGHT MY FIRE!

  • what he has done to this song?! R'n'b manner of singing doesn't suit here!!!! He is a good singer... but Will, stay away from THE DOORS!

  • Jim Morrison would be unimpressed.

  • i love the fact that hes gay...makes him even more adorable....people he doesnt care if you think hes gay....cause he is....and he makes more money than your ass ever will<---so yeahh you got pwned

  • @mercedes1988 is he really gay?

  • @schmittyc1993 Funny thing is, that he probably wouldn't be that much of a prick.

  • He has an amazing voice, does it matter his version differs from the original? At least he tries to make the song his own, and criticising him purely because of his sexuality, well that's just pathetic.

  • Awhhh he's so cute!!

  • There's no point in making comments like "you only don't like the song cos he is gay" - this is not true of most comments!

Having said that, this is rubbish. The Doors were so influential and original, and 'Light My Fire' is, in my opinion, their best song and one of the best songs of the classic rock era. This version is soppy, flaccid and dull. It sounds like Richard Cheese tried and failed badly. I like Will Young (as a person, not as a performer though) but this is appalling.

  • @stuartdundas and your comment isn't anti-gay how?

  • Yeah..gay as hell! But so was freddie mercury..& so is adam lambert..but these ppl r talented as hell! Love him, FM & AL..they r eye candy to any gal, gay or not..

  • A true star. Well done Will. Eight years on and you are still a multi platninum selling artist with the biggest selling single of all time. I don't care what anyone else says you are wonderful nd a lovely lovely guy as well. Bring on the tour this year as you and your band are fabulous live.

  • @IscaGill Please, what is the biggest selling single of all time? It's not any song recorded by Will Young! Although accurate global data is impossible to achieve, as no official body exists to record international record sales, Elton John's 'Candle in the Wind 1997' (the Princess Di version) has shipped at least 37m units worldwide since then. Perhaps you are mistaking your homosexual entertainers. PS - not a hateful comment - I just thought it was funny.

  • It's a shame I haven't heard of Will Young until recently on American Idol. He was awesome and he is awesome. One of the best voices I heard in a long time. Blows most singers out of the water and it's live not in a studio where anyone can sound good. Way to go WIll. I will be buying his new Cd.

  • Hes so cute!. We gals r missing so much :(

  • Very good singer . Very good version of this song . His new song was great that he sang live on Idol tonight . This guy can sing very well !!!!!!

  • SO GAY!!

  • Seriously I am Gay and think will young killed this song, Jim Morrison Wasnt homosexual and just because someone says they dont like will youngs version of one of the most famous rock songs ever written doesn't make them homophobic.

  • I'm sure if Jim had ever heard this, he would have quit music right on the spot. What an insult to a legend.

  • sad sad sad.....

  • @TheJpcash420 so... what you're saying is... it's a good thing Queen wasn't a rock band?

  • good song!

  • Made me feel uncomfortable..I got to listen to Jose's version right away .

This singer spoilt the song .

  • @skycladwow because jim didnt even like it when he found out this song was redone for a tv commercial when he was still alive. read a book about jim or the dorrs once in a fucking while. u apparently know nothing about jim morrison. he was rock and beatnik thru and thru. this is shit! he wouldn't have cared for this song unless he was fucked up on lsd.

  • he's pretty and has a good voice, but this song is not for him u-u

  • Instead of making petty remarks about a song; go and read up on a bit of politics and see if you can comment on another video with a little more clarity and intelligence.

  • is he gay?

  • damn faggot

  • Thanks for ruining a great song you dumb peice of over rated pop singing pussy. I hope you burn in hell, and die as soon as possible. Seriously, if Jim Morrison saw this, he would shit his pants, thanks for being a total disgrce to every single Doors song ever.

  • @rfvgyygvfr Preach preacher!

  • @rfvgyygvfr u go burn in hell dick head.

  • this is a disgrace this faggot should be locked up

  • lol this is simply fucked up . die in a fire faggot!

  • @denislaiho if you dont like it dont comment with and contaminate the world with your negative contraversial thoughts...NO ONE CARES!

  • @MrJabawocky really ? obviously you care since u put an effort to reply to my post.

  • @denislaiho ooo you got me there :D

  • wow way to murder a classic, this is exactly what jim morrison want -____-

  • i thought this was a really good rendition of the song.

  • WOW way to kill a song ! Dumb asshole

  • WHAT THE FUCK. Fuck you American Idol. Nothing is fucking sacred. Nothing is sacred!!!!!!

  • To all you Doors fans and Will haters, it's worth noting that Will is singing LMF in the style of Jose Feliciano NOT Jim Morrison. And actually Jose had a bigger, world wide hit with his version. Not to dismiss JM's version, just putting things into perspective. Peace.

  • What is this gay shit?

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow....sooooooooo a fagggggggggggggggggg motherfucker for doing this

  • Wow ! Amazing !!!

  • This is the music equivalent of Michael Bay directing a 3D remake of The Godfather.

  • To the homophobic comments:

As if you never noticed, Jim Morrisson was "GAYER THEN A BIG BAG OF GAY THINGS FROM GAYLAND" fucking get a life. "he who protests too much". I think all the comments from people outraged by will singing this song, better than jim are actually gay themselves and too ashamed too come out. Better leave right now , is of the best songs of the last decade....... keep up the great songwriting. The green eyed monster in most people is not a good trait xxxx

  • @RobohX360 hahahahaha that is hilarious

  • He sings with a joy in his heart.... isn't that what makes it great?

  • oh my god why did he ruin this song?! what the fuck!!!!??!!! this is retarded.

  • that was gay. i hope he doesn't sing more songs by the doors. cause that sucked

  • horrible horrible singer, maybe it works for some pop songs but not for the doors. Im sorry this asshole has to go. R.I.P Jim

  • You are all pathetic. Criticizing someone who had a dream and went for it, becoming a global singer in the process and having his hard work paid off. The only work that will pay off by you haters is when you work your little fingers on the keyboard and cuss people. Sing yourself and upload it, then we'll see who's really sh*t. Will Young has a great vocal range and is one of the most individual unique SONG ARTISTS i know of.

  • I agree, I don't think he sings this tune good at all. Yea, he may have a nice voice (which in my opinion although he can sing, I dont like his gay voice), but he just doesn't have the manly more talented voice of Jim Morrison.

  • fuck it's a fuckin gay for sure. can't watch dis.

The Doors - Light my Fire is f*ckin amazin but this lil bastard is just shit...

  • agreed!

  • Well, This is total shit.

  • "no time to wallow in the mire"???

the song is nebraska corn to start with

and what is people's problem with the guy being a homosexual?

  • OMFG GAY GAY ALERT!!!

  • but still way hotter than you will ever be

  • What a little faggot

  • a mkillionaire faggot, whose life is more than giving nasty comments on youtube. what a shit life you have.

  • Comment removed

  • Ah, so I take it you're a little faggot too then? One with a very shitty taste in music? Giving away nasty replies in youtube? A pleasure to make your acquaintance! Yes, life is wonderful indeed!

  • the pleasure is all yours. I am glad my life doesn;t stand for hate. What a legacy.

  • Thank you Mr. internet psychologist. I realize now how my whole life is based on hate because I don't like the music of Will Young. I am forever in your debt.

  • his voice is sensational

  • que mierda es esa es una ofensa para el rock...

  • i enjoyed Will singing this number.

Puts a smile on my face that lights up my office.

    Super cute as well.

  • ugh. im disgusted.

Jim Morrison will always be the best.

but this hideous boy ruined the song.

but Jim's version will always be the best.

  • Will your crap GERR OFFFF

  • Comment removed

  • super cute!

  • I almost sliced my wrist when I heard this. Morrison I think would be horrified hearing this version.

  • agreed

  • Nothing against Will Young's sexuality but this song is all about sexuality and Will Young is the polar opposite of Jim Morrison and sings this is a way that completely misses everything that made the original so good. It has no feeling and its hard to believe that Young means any line he is singing. All subjective and if you like it fine but I am amazed if anyone who loved the original can possibly like this version as it could not be more opposite.

  • O.O!!!

    Pero ke pokeria!!!

    JimMorrizoN deve de estarse Rebolcando

    Eun su Tumba!!!

  • Just cos he's gay it doesn't stop him havin talent!

  • this is shit... jim was the best. the doors wrote this song not this gay

  • but rubbish is this ... this guy is a backstreet boy ............ is an insult to Jim Morrison ...

  • God I love him singing this :)

    Fantastic to see this again.

  • Well, I love this version, and may I say I can't believe the number of homophobic comments on this thread: is this allowed? Comment on the song by all means, but don't attack anyone personally. Really, you should be ashamed.
