its a pretty good cover, its really slick and smooth. the lyrics just sound bad...he sings it very well, he has a beautiful voice, but his beautiful voice doesnt cut the mustard. Having said that, this is rubbish. The Doors were so influential and original, and 'Light My Fire' is, in my opinion, their best song and one of the best songs of the classic rock era. The song was largely written by Robby Krieger (u r correct), and credited to the entire band. The song was originally performed by The Doors which was recorded in August 1966 and released the first week of January 1967. It spent three weeks at #1 on the Billboard's Hot 100, and one week on the Cashbox Top 100. (Ref: wikipedia)

This is closer to Jose Feliciano's acoustic version than JM's poetic masterpiece but I choose to believe he would have been flattered by both.

There's no point in making comments like "you only don't like the song cos he is gay" - this is not true of most comments!
Having said that, this is rubbish. The Doors were so influential and original, and 'Light My Fire' is, in my opinion, their best song and one of the best songs of the classic rock era. This version is soppy, flaccid and dull. It sounds like Richard Cheese tried and failed badly. I like Will Young (as a person, not as a performer though) but this is appalling.

Nothing against Will Young's sexuality but this song is all about sexuality and Will Young is the polar opposite of Jim Morrison and sings this is a way that completely misses everything that made the original so good. It has no feeling and its hard to believe that Young means any line he is singing. All subjective and if you like it fine but I am amazed if anyone who loved the original can possibly like this version as it could not be more opposite.
