  • I lost my N900 into a toilet.. yea, the outdoor festival one.. the one filled with soap and 10 gallons of pi...

How, Well those toilets does not have light (at least not this one) So I used my camera light (Flashlight app) say no more.. the thing fell into the ugly bugly..

What did I do..? Well, I got all freeked out.. but what was funny was that my LED flashlight was on.. in 40 cm of ...... So it was easy to find.. even 20 sec after it fell down.. 2 days dry.. and now it still works.. =)

  • 1:47, slide fail!

  • Hi! Thanks for the tip. I got my brand new Nokia 5233 to fall in a bucket full of water (don't ask)... removed it immediately, opened it superficially and removed battery. I placed in the paper drier all assembled. After three hours, I could finally get my hands on proper screwdrivers, and was able to disassemble the phone completely (except the lcd screen). Put it back in the paper drier (mildly warm)... but, when I reassembled it, the lcd was still stained. What should I do? Tks in advance

  • handsome guy..

  • My N900 fall today in water for 3 seconds a hope the rice save my n900 :)

  • @eiffel841 has it saved it?

  • it just needed time to recover

  • i can say that if u put the phone under water like in a bucket of water for say 10sec this method dose not work. well not for me anyway.

  • is anything wrong with your eyes ? they aren't straight.

  • again rice save the day

  • your videos rock man! i was also a fan of noah from phonedog but hes gone i would love to know where he went but your definately one of my favorite review people...have u done a video review of the nokia e71?

  • I just saw every of the tests on the N900 you've made... OMG..... It was like watching a horror movie!!! But still, great job! Now I'm confident enough to buy it jeje

  • I just saw every of the tests on the N900 you've made... OMG..... It was like watching a horror movie!!! But still, great job! Now I'm confident enough to buy it jeje

  • fully submerge it for 5 secs

  • Pal?? Why??? why rice??? is why some people put rice in the salt shaker?

  • I would just like to say that I have already done this twice - and it worked both times!

I got water in the earpiece, which effectively killed the speaker. I have no idea how well this would work with worse water exposure (nor am I going to test it).

I used risotto rice, because I'm under the impression it is more absorbent.

You will however end up with rice rattling around inside it, so either cover the 3 big holes under the battery, or just do as I did.... shake it for 20 mins.

  • now you can donate the phone to me :p

  • You can also use silica gel packets!

  • this serious!?

  • my n900 actually fell in a bucket filled with water and i took it out after 5 or 6 seconds, removed the battery immediately (the screen begun to flicker actually) and started the disassembly in the next minute or so. (btw thanks to your video it was easy).i dried the pieces one by one with a hairdryer at low power for the next 3 hrs.then i put the pieces together and the phone worked/works like a charm.tho i had some spots and stains on the screen, they completely dissapeared in the next 2 days.

  • radio active rice is tasty

  • ZOMG! DOTS!!!!

  • i really love your videos lolz i only love is about the phones not you haha

  • Im not putting my phone in an oven lolz

  • hey man rice has healing effect too.... thats why we should not waste our rice.. =D peazce

  • It made me cry seeing this... I really don't think mine is gonna make it!

I walked into a pool with it in my pocket, only the tip corner actually went in the water. Set it on my deck to let it dry, came back 20 minutes later, phone was off. Went to turn it back on, logo came on, pulled battery to just let it dry all the way. Hour later, NOTHING worked. Tried the rice, 2 hours later (couldnt wait) indicator light=blue. Now the backlight comes on and indic. is purple... wtf?

  • I normally have chicken karma with my rice!

  • if ur not using the phone or anything u should do a give away =D

btw love awesome vids what has been going on lately no videos sad face is sad

There is power to the phone because the keyboard is lit.light also flashes on the corner of n900..i m freaking out what to do...you may help me plz tell me solution of this problem realy soon plz..........punch it...

  • Thats such a nice phone its a shame that no US carrier will carry it so it is so expensive

  • LOL U SHOULD OF TAKEN IT APART IMMEDIATELY

  • incredible! GOOD JOB! Thanks a lot!

  • where is the water damage indicator on the n900? i have to send mines to be repair and i want to take a before shot of it showing that it is not damaged by water before sending it in case they try to not honor my warranty

  • Just put your phone in the oven at 50°C degree for a couple hrs.

That works also for your PC.

  • i will lyk u guyz to do a Batery drain test...

    OR

do a camera test cuz i heard sumwhere its camera is not as good as it luks...so u can test it at night (using its LED ) and sumother environmentz...

  • MORE METAL LOBster!!!!!!!!!

  • Does drying work if its put under a table lamp?Or by using a hair dryer?

  • @2cloudconnected3 Depending on on how high the wattage on the light bulb is and how close you put it. Also don't use a hair dryer, they're to hot and could damage the circuit board/ mess up the soldiering.

The rice method it pretty good, and storing your phone in between a could towels inside a boiler (airen) cupboard.

  • Did he say put it in the oven for 5hrs? Crazy!

  • let's do N900 Fried Rice~ lolx~

  • You'rea fucking Winnaaa :D

  • Maybe u can test it by placing it near magnets!

  • Great vids man, enjoyed watchin em all!

  • You r something u know ?

  • Really nice show but your ruthless with the n900 i'm sorry for the poor phones I have one too. I found out on the internet that n900 has actually a water sensor inside and it won't turn on until it's dry so it won't short out the phone. By the way an interesting test would be to see how much weight can a n900 sustain you should put a 100kg weight on it but gently don't drop it on the phone!!! Can't wait until the next show

  • seat it on fire or drope in a pool with cam on

  • hey you lucky guy.

    please gift me a n900 i´m peruvian

    pleaseeeeeeeeee

  • RACIST!!!!

  • The camera on the n900 is good, it makes jon look white. Oh....I didn't mean it that way.....I'm not racist!

  • i wunder how weight this phinne can handel

  • Is the rice still edible after that?

  • Great tests! Seen all of them, great! Man, what kind of drugs are you on, i wanna have em...rice, will kitty litter do the same trick?

  • that was absolutaly total drama there : preace

  • my n 900 underwent water damage ...kept it in rice...everything seems to work ok...the phoine boots up just fine...but the touch screen is gone haywire...

  • what's up with the rice?... it absorbs the water or something?!

  • shifty eyes spotted !! * hides*

  • the answer to all problems.. RICE !!!!!

  • @DuckShoooes

if you eat too much you will get fatllol

  • I used the new captions- google transciber (beta)

And it said that the bone turned on...

Could you make the tests with the GOOD OLD 3210 (by Nokia), it is massive.

  • after a month of daily normal usage my USB port fell out when removing my charger...WTF!? i read there are more people with the same problem...nokia europe (the netherlands) refuses to repair it for free under the terms of fabric guarantee..they say its user damage. . . . .

please test the port as proof

  • RICE!

  • "Poiiishhh....Why did i just do that'

LMFAO, this guy reminds me of my buddy, they look alike too XD

  • Please test the usb port, a lot!!!

  • Great work, like these tests very much.

Can you stress test the USB port, to silence the suspicious out there? Early releases (betas?) had USB ports that came out of the phone when removing the USB plug! But I think that's all been taken care of by now.

Also, how about stressing the physical keyboard? And also the sliding functionality?

I'm loving my N900 to death, BTW!

  • every nerd in America(myself included) was on the edge of there seats when he turned that phone back on haha

  • @prawlininja yea and every bad ass wanted it to be broke so he would run over it

  • @prawlininja Meanwhile, Aussies cracked open another cold one (Otherwise known as a 'extra heavy full strength long brewed' to Americans ...just where do you guys get you beer? From a Canoe?), smirked and said "She'll be right, Mate".

  • if would be very funny if he forget that he had put the phone into the rice box and put it all into the rice cooker, wat would come out is Rice N 900 XDDD

  • im gettin the phone tommorow and hope neva have to tip it into rice,,,,,,,,,but if i do, does it have to be a specific type of rice?

  • no, basically every type of rice out there is kind of the same so any kind should be ok.

  • Lol i was hating you on the water test video.... But happy to know its that good! I am not planning on doing any of these things you did on it though.....

  • Comment removed

  • Actually I recommend the oven, set at 50-70C (125-160F) as it will dry out the phone completely. The rice might leave some water inside, and the longer time the water is inside the phone, the longer time it has to start corrode the circuit boards inside the phone. And everyone knows what happens when a car starts to rust.

So dry it as quickly as possible. But never heat it up to more than 70C (160F) as it will kill some of the components inside.

  • Just dropped my motorola cliq in the toilet (don't ask me how) and it took me about 5 minutes to take the battery out and submerge it in rice. I'm going to wait 24 hours and see if I'm as successful as you were. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

  • Keep me in touch

  • It works!!! I actually left it in the rice for about 20 hours and there were grains of rice trapped between the qwerty keyboard and the back of the screen for several days but it works perfectly now :)

  • Keep me in touch :)

  • what about leaving it on the water heater? or if you still want the whole ethnic thing, your grandmother?

  • Great commentary!

  • man, u just look like a dick on the head for some reason

  • You're right you're not funny

but u r wonderful in reviews

  • I know what happens with electronics+water.. it makes copper carbonate. It blocks the electricity. Happened to a remote control i have, but i had to manually get it out. To put a phone in rice after contact with alot of water is clever to do.

  • Please test the durabiity of the female USB connector, this is something you could conceivably do this after the device has been otherwise destroyed.

  • Haha! That's cool.

When my N95 got soaked with water (well, spilled perfume), I panicked and buried it in rice. After a few days, it still wouldn't work, so I just gave up (but left it in the rice) and used some other phone.

I forgot about it but found it again after a couple of months, decided to try it and voila it turned on!

  • WOW! you forgot about a phone you left in rice? best thing i read all day!

  • Nice one John, It actually worked again!! Miracle lol I would not let my phone get near water.

  • coglione....

  • LMAO brilliant XD!! 5 stars

  • im pissed i droped mine in the toilet... it still works but it aint irhgt. like wifi dont work and the indicator lights stay on

  • :( owned

  • @thewienerwurst sent it in to nokia FIXED!

  • they fixed your water damaged phone?how much did it cost i lost mine in the snow and found it when it melted lol

  • @bmorekid2 well they claimed they was then the phone gets there and they send it back unrepaired. so looks like you ass out just like me.

  • i dont know if mines is messed up yet ill wait a couple days for it to dry it was off before snow got in it i hope the battery is just messed but couldnt they replace it for a reduced price i have a couple hundred for that but not 600$ all over again lol

  • @phonevidz end of the day i sold it broke on ebay and got some of my cash back...it was cool for the 2 days i used it lol. back to the best hacked phone the hd2

  • @phonevidz DAMN Already :(

    i hope it fixes

  • The last test should be how well Nokia customer service responds to getting your phone repaired after you destroy it. Might be interesting hearing the explanation to customer service just exactly what happened to it.

  • Love the videos guys! and the little random asian jokes!

  • The N900 is a Hob-Nob :D

  • hahaha, lol. to be honest i would have been surprised if water had done no damage to it .... nokias are not invincible like they were ten years ago..... :)

  • better than the iphone

  • the cam on the n900 isnt that bad due :D

  • Yes it works thanks to the rice :)

  • u are so funny!!! :D

  • uhhh why does it say that you are from the UK? im pretty sure when you stepped outside that those liscence plates were from ontario, and you dont have a birtish accent so,,,,

  • I live in Canada (Toronto, Ontario), but our site is established in the UK.

  • ohhhh i see, interesting

  • @tehkseven when the next stress test

  • rather impressive i say.

you raped the n900 really hard and its still living.

    1 for nokia, 0 for tehkseven :D

  • Nice new haircut! And btw the internet doesn't talk or make suggestions. People use it to do that... ;-)

  • that test is really really useful, and i think that should find a place in comercial videos, because from now, i don't scare to buy this phone, because now i know, that i won't damage or broke this phone easily :) well done!

  • the rice trick was cool, did not know and funny videos, alot more interesting then normal reviews and stress tests!

if the battery life dident suck on n900 and n97 mini i would buy them in a heart beat! but... E72 instead :p

love the vids and keep them up!!

  • wow..i never know about the rice trick

  • omg, i can't believe the rice trick worked!!!! holy crap

  • N900 is new miracle from Nokia

  • I do have to say, like who ever said, this phone is a tank!!!!

I would seriously love to see how it would fare against a car running over it.

  • Hilarious video once again. This phone is a tank.

  • ohh btw congrats on getting the N900 working again!!!
