I get sick of hearing people say AFI has sold out or went mainstream. It's not that. It's they have grown and as a result, their sound has evolved. Take Decemberunderground. First few times I listened to it, I hated it. But it was only because I didn't think it was "true AFI" which is ridiculous. Now, I love every song on that album because I appreciate it for what it is. AFI will never give us Art of Drowing or Black Sails again. But that's OK. Just sit back and enjoy the evolution

The only band that can evoke the deepest of emotions within you ... I used to listen to them 3 years ago and then I stopped ... because of the memories they brought.
and today was the first time in 3 years to listen to them again ... I realized what a fool I was xD They are absolutely amazing.

It's kind of funny, it seems like Sacrilege is a part two to this song. This one is sad and like the speaker doesn't want to let go of his faith but in Sacrilege, "I can only hope this is one big joke", it's like similar songs with two completely different attitudes, something to think about.

Aww man....I'm a fan of their older stuff as well myshadowdeath666, and I'll agree that STS was one of their best albums. I'd even venture to say that it was their single best album. Their newer stuff doesn't suck though. It's a different sound, sure, but it's still musically sound.

i love love LOVE all the mysticism that goes along with every afi album it's creepy, horror movie esque, and gripping... the music ties along perfectly and it's so inspiring and realatable and is able to have such deep meaning and concept... wow i sound really deep right now but black sails-present best albums ever!
Blak sails is great, but i dont think it compares well to this one, This one was recorded better and sounds clearer becuase of that. But yea sometimes that old Catchy hardcore sound is awsome that blacksails is, but i like sing the sorrow way betta,

how can you call yourselves AFI fans?? no one even mentions Answer That, Very Proud, OR Shut Your Mouth in their top five albums. Their later stuff is good, but their older albums make the band. You cannot call yourself a true fan if at least one of those three aren't in your list of top AFI albums.
you remind me of the jocks that went to my high school and claimed to be "punk" because they listened to new AFI. that shit made me never want to listen to anything after The Art of Drowning.

Persoanlly, I can barely stand anything after Sing the sorrow... also, they barely have enough albums to say "my top 5 favs are" seriously X_x

You don't have to like every single album from a band to be considered a fan. I honestly hate Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes and I think DU was their worst album (they could of done better). But that doesn't make me any less of a fan. People have different tastes in music and it's not their fault that AFI covers like 3 or 4 different genres.

@Whatpressure Well the song is about the speaker's (not sure who among them wrote it) struggle with his religious beliefs, and not wanting to let them go, but reason, and a lot of disappointment just kills it. what amazes me is how they go from this to Sacrilege, from "Always wanted to believe" to "i can only hope this is one big joke", if you think about it, Sacrilege is kind of like part 2 to this song! But no, this song is NO disappointment, beautiful fucking song.

That's 1)Just plain mean 2)Not what I'd expect from him 3)Hypocritical towards the 'mindless religious enforcers' he hates so much. But oh well, lol.

Aww man....I'm a fan of their older stuff as well myshadowdeath666, and I'll agree that STS was one of their best albums. I'd even venture to say that it was their single best album. Their newer stuff doesn't suck though. It's a different sound, sure, but it's still musically sound.
You're entitled to your opinion though, and I mostly agree with it. I certainly agree that we need another STS quality album, cause this hate is fucking real.

i love love LOVE all the mysticism that goes along with every afi album it's creepy, horror movie esque, and gripping... the music ties along perfectly and it's so inspiring and realatable and is able to have such deep meaning and concept... wow i sound really deep right now but black sails-present best albums ever!
