  • Anyone know the name of the song Abe is recording at 3:40?

  • question.....what was that he said at the beginning then went silent when the camera appeared?....it sounded like "thats why ive always been been coked up"...i seriously doubt that was what he said though.

  • @gabbalabbawoop ...Jeff was having a conversation (I personally assumed it was about music, NOT drugs) and said something like "....and that's why I've always been fucked up..." Why does everyone just ASSUME Jeff was such a druggie? Back in the '70's and '80's, 99.9% of rock musicians DID do drugs to some degree. Jeff quit coke long before his death...and he is one of the greatest drummers of all time - drugs or NO drugs. Please just let him rest in peace.

  • @mamallama29 Gabba : You are correct. I am lucky to have two great friends who knew Jeff personally. He WAS NOT a big drug guy at all. Toto in general were little bit drinky-drinky, smokey-smokey guys. Tame for these days. That whole incident/reaction by the press after Jeff's passing was deplorable. The man was a genius, and I have songs with Jeff playing on them on a CD in my car - I listen on the way to gigs and get pumped up. Thank God for whoever posted this so we could all see , WOW.

  • 5:33 what is that song with bobby kimball?

  • @Holdtheline07 you know it buddii

  • was that fee waybill in the video singing she's a beauty...I think it was...

  • @TheGreatSam1992 It's Crimes Of Passion by Radioactive. Type it into youtube and you'll here it in full.

  • @TheGreatSam1992 - Song is called Crimes of Passion features Toto's Bobby Kimball on vocals...

  • 1991? Wow, must have been recorded right before his death in August that year. RIP

  • Great footage! I can't believe someone don't like this video... Maybe don't understand the difference between a Drummer and a pots-batter...

  • Where can I buy this album?

  • there were emails in 91????? anyway: this video is awesome thank you!

  • One time Toto lead singer Fergie Frederiksen at 3:18

  • The Tubes' Fee Waybill at 3:02

  • Guitarist Dean Parks at 2:37

  • Killer !!! Jeff Porcaro is my idol. Thanks for posting. : )

  • the basser @3:50 is the best

  • Awesome post

  • jeff could lay it down man

  • SO FREAKING NINETIES I LOVE IT

  • this is like gold dust man! god bless whoever shot this, jeff in the studio so rare to find anything other than his drum video!

  • This is fabulous, I really need to see more of my hero in action, some real good music on this album

  • this realy cool stuff i like it.

  • Cool, I am the Number 99 who likes this Video!

    ;-)

best wishes to Mike and all of you!

  • If anybody want to know the first song it´s called "Liquid" !

Get this Album ! It´s so damn awesome !!

  • the footage of Jeff Porcaro is superb, thanks for this

  • Many engineers take off the resonant head of the kick drum and build a "bass tunnel" with some blankets and chairs. They'll usually use a condenser and also dynamic mic or two for punchy attack. I do it when I record as well.

  • i'd like to know what is the name of the song at 1:12

    Please

  • Fee Waybill, Dean Parks, Fergie Frederiksen...

  • There is no attitude without a cigarette. Long live Jeff!!!

  • man jeff was just awsome i fuckin love that guy rip jeff.

  • to me, Dean Parks is synonym to word versatility. I mean, he's doin' such burn tunes as seen in here and on the other day he's playing straight-ahead jazz with Rachael Price and then again he's playing country with Bobby Bland!

  • What's the name of the last song in the video?

  • Awesome!...wasn't that Fee Waybill of The Tubes I spotted briefly? and also David Hungate?

  • Yeah, Fee Waybill with the dogs and "She's a beauty".

  • I love it, they are amazing, reading charts, this is how great musicians work.

  • Can anybody tell me what bass guitar Mike Porcaro play on this video? I think it's the same bass from Zenith concert 1990.

  • @Uros0466 not quite sure but I would say it's Alembic Europa with a reversed headstock

  • Thanks man

  • Half of toto!

  • That is great footage !

I have been looking for such a video from Jeff for a long time !

    Thanks for sharing !

Where is it possible to get more of this?

  • What are Jeff and Mike talking about in the beginning of the video?...I hear Mike say.."Well, that's where I'm going for the weekend."...hmmmmm

  • whoa, who's that sax guy?

  • oh, after 10 minutes of intensive hunting, I found out that he's Dave Boruff

  • This is not Toto. This is Tommy Denanders project, Radioactive - "Ceremony of innocence". He made two more albums (I think) with Radioactive, but not as catchy as Ceremony...

  • Looks like Jeff lighting up a bowl @ :30

  • i think your right dude

  • @demrayhalen Oh yeah, well spotted i though he was drinking coffee

  • Thanks for sharing this! Jeff was all about taste and musicality on the instrument!

  • Hey, about 3:40 - is this Abraham Laboriel on bass??

    WOW!

  • yep

  • Oh Sorry That's not Mike this guy is a bit flabby

  • Is that Dean Parks with the Tyler Guitar

  • Looks Like Mike Landau playing the guitar not Luke

  • Hey Tommy?

Timestamp 02:11-02:32....Jeff's snare work is off the hook. What tune was THAT for!?!?! What a BEAST!

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!1

  • can u imagine doing this for a living...OMG!! do they know how lucky they are

  • @gaae2000 Not much luck involved . . . these guys worked their asses off to get this good . . . and work their asses off on the job! Regardless, you can tell that they're having a great time!

  • @gaae2000 there's a crapload of work behind being able to do this for a living

  • Great vid. But the clip with Luke can not be from the 1991 session. Luke didn't cut his hair 'till after the KoD tour in 92-93.

  • Yeah, but Jeff is there so this clip can't be from the time after KoD because Jeff died beFORE the tour.

  • The first parts of the video with Jeff, Mike, Steve P and Paich were filmed in 91...the rest is done over the years all the way up to a few years ago....

I'm still filming some interviews for the DVD documentary

  • if you're making a dvd documentary on toto, please let me know when it's finished so i can see it. are you gonna post it on youtube?

  • what a great video, thanks for posting this ~8^)

  • What song is Abraham Laboriel playing at 3:40? some tastey stuff

  • Great to see them playing! I think "Ceremony Of Innocence" is an outstanding album, along with "Kingdom of desire" - great songs on it and Jeff kicks like ass.... Looks like he had fun playing the "harder stuff". :)

  • wonder what jeff is talking about in the beginning? "...get back to normal, that's why I've always been fucked up." Hmmmm...

    great footage

  • i wondered that the first time i saw this video the day it come up on youtube...jeff and mike are the best... i dont care what they did or what they were on... i just love their music! feel and inspiration

  • drugs?

  • No they were not on drugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dont take me wrong i love them and their music!

  • Honestly, Toto is just my favourite band, And my favourite Members Are Mike And Jeff, it's funny in the vid though, it sounds like Jeff goes "Yeah and that's why I've always been fucked up", and it sounded like Mike said "Well that's why I switched to Weed". Lol. Never the less, drugs or no drugs, I love this band so much, Do you have any info on mikes illness?

  • @JeRiSkInG1 actually I think Jeffrey says "That's why I've always been coked up". And I think you're right about Mikey sayin "That's why I'm goin with weed"! LOL Jeffrey learned all about that stuff playin with Fagan and Becker from Steely Dan!!

  • Not real sure; from Mike's response, and from their being on the session together, my GUESS is they're discussing the arrangment and their approach to creating a huge pocket for everybody else to fall into. They both have been MASTERS at doing that.

  • My all time hero. He just had an instantly recognisable groove.....and he used Paiste as well!! He has a fantastic snare sound in this clip......RIP Jeff

  • whats the song at 6:46?? does somebody know it?

  • The song is - A Case Of Right Or Wrong (Tommy Denander - Fee Waybill) Fee Waybill - Lead vocals Tommy Denander - Guitars, keyboards Jeff Porcaro - Drums & percussion Mike Porcaro - Bass David Paich - Keyboards Steve Porcaro - Programming Mats Olausson - Keyboard solo Kristoffer Lagerström - Backing Vocals
  • OMG. Thankx for uploading. I have heard this here and must have this record and ordered it!!! :-)))

  • Glad you guys like it!!!....i sure as hell had the time of my life doing the recordings :-)

Also in this video but not mentioned above are Dean Parks, Fergie Frederiksen, Rev Dave Boruff, Randy Goodrum and Vince DiCola....

You guys are gonna LOVE the full DVD...with all the extra material, interviews, pictures and stories about how every songs was recorded etc....

Thanks for all the kind emails also....mean a lot!

  • TD - Like Aermsche, I idolize Jeff and this is the first I've had to see the master in action in the studio. WOW. I like the candid f-bomb in the beginning, funny. Thanks so much for putting this up and I cannot wait for the DVD.

  • man eye candy for so many people that love the porcaros! how lucky we are for this!

  • It's great that you put this on youtube...i don't mind at all :-)

I will put a lot more up after my coming DVD documentary "The making of Radioactive" has been out for a while.

It should be out this fall and features a lot more of the studio scenes with Toto plus a lot of the other musicians and interviews etc...

    Cheers

    Tommy

  • Hi Tommy.

I'm glad you don't mind my sharing this unique footage with other music lovers in here. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Radioactive DVD with more great stuff with Jeff and the guys. :-)

    See you later, mate.

  • @TDenander Ahh is the DVD still scheduled tobe released soon??

  • @TDenander Hallo. I guess that if I say that you are lucky to know all these musicians, you are really blessed. Anyway, I love this music but have a question. This seems to be spread through some years, based on footage. Is this from only one album? And that bass from Ab Laboriel and keys of Greg Phillinganes are lovely. Is that from the same album? They just sound different, than rest. Thank you.

  • @TDenander whats jeff say at the very beginning, that he's always been fucked up? anyway the dude is sooo cool, but whats the story with his death, cocaine i heard??

  • @sparkles67

Heart Attack / Anaphylactic Shock from pesticides. Get to much of that crap; it can kill you. Jeff was spraying some lethal stuff the day he died.

  • thanks heaps for that

  • OMG !!!! Thanks for sharing !!!!
