  • this an Ikarus bus ?

  • can you ride the NABI Detroit Bus?

  • That good ol' #2251 is still on the road as of July 7, 2008 on Route#322 on Cermak Rd. I believe they still about less 5-10 left. Gotta love old school buses like these.

  • Is it from that Hungarian bus-factory called Ikarus? Or they just have the same name?

  • Yes, it is the Hungarian Ikarus!

  • Prior to 1992 the buses were finished at Union City Body in Union City, IN. After UCB went kaput and Ikarus nearly left the American market, the assets of Ikarus USA were bought out by First Hungary Fund Ltd. in the UK (and as a result the company was named American Ikarus and as of 1997, it was re-renamed NABI) and final assembly was moved to Anniston, AL. The shells were made in Hungary but the rest of the bus was finished here.

  • The 1997 renaming of the entity to NABI (North American Bus Industries) occurred after FHF bought out Ikarus's 25% share of the venture.

  • I think its a Detriot Diesel 6V92.

  • Great video. What tipe of engine does this bus have?
