Can I just say, the time signature changes nearly as much, if not more than mathcore, and the lead is easier than the rhythm in the song... That just tells you these guys are good.
Vocalist in this band was in FFTL. So glad each of the members is off doing something amazing rather than being in another emo band. Sonny does dubstep, Matt is in DRUGS, and Travis is in the best one!
Like Death metal in all sorts of forms, good as Human Abstract? Then check out my channel and the vids in my favourites. Especially see to my DEATH metal Playlist!
Hmm, according to Guitar pro, after the quick intro, the time signature goes 7/8 3/4 7/8 5/4 4/4... but to me it sounds like 4/4 3/4 4/4 4/4, then the next measure 4/4 5/4 4/4 4/4... anyone agree?
they should get all the people who do all the best progressive guitar, bass, drums and vocal covers on youtube together in a band and call them Protest the Human Between the Abstract Hero and Me. PtHBtAHaM.
@thtdudewiththehair you'd think that would churn up something good? Well, if they wouldn't use Rody Walker as their vocalist, I'd be looking forward to it. PTH's new album's vocals were kinda 'meh'.
You guys are all fucking morons for arguing over the singer. In my opinion NOBODY should sing over this in the first place. Something this well composed and amazing would be even better instrumental. That's just my opinion though.
This song is incredible. The build up for the ending, starting at 4:18, is so sick. You can sense that their own style is still there, but they've matured as musicians.
sp3cter is right. I mean i loved Nocturne, but I hated midheaven. You want to talk about hating mainstream? well wht was Nathan doing? Midheaven he made all about his singing skills, then went and made a r n b album. He highly disappointed me. I think this is the best since Nocturne, but thats my opinion, im just glad the guitarist is back :D But hes right we shouldnt be fighting, the fact that everyone here has a familiar taste in music should make us stand together
what is up with all the debates!!??!?! ok we're all fans of the same music! and we all hate the "mainstream" music like Rebecca black and Lady Gaga! so why fight amongst our selves? We all should be working to over power the pop!!!
@sp3cter7 well, because they have a different vocalist now (a better one IMO) and took more of a classical-prog approach to the album, which suits them well. personally i thought they werent too good before this album, but now, now they are fantastic.
everyone who doesn't like this album can't accept that it's not nocturne part 2, or their butthurt cause they can't admit the new vocalist is better than nathan. Honestly, Nathan was too whiny, and on Midheaven his vocals were just flat out awful. The instrumentals on nocturne were obviously really good, but they were just a straight out shredfest. This actually has structure and classical elements to it. All the dislikes= butthurt Nocturne fans.
damn i havent listened to these guys since i got into "vela, together we await the storm" for like 2 years. THE SHIT SOUNDS EVEN BETTER! luvs it 8=======D~~~~
woah woah woah... so they don't have Nathan anymore?? wtf? that's why they sound so different.. man, shit... Nathan was awesome. i'd go so far as to say he made the band what they were. He had a really unique voice, especially in Midheaven. WHY?!?!?!? they just dropped way down on my awesome band list.
still, great, talented, innovative band. i hope they find their sound again.
@Misbeliefz Not even close. This is their third album and i would have to say it's tied for second place with Midheaven. This album has their worst instrumentals, even though it's still amazing not even close to Nocturne album. Listen to the song Nocturne and Vela, Together We Await The Storm. Tell me 1 song that has better instrumentals. You can't.
@VivaEmptiness420 The Human Abstract lost their sound when AJ went to college after Nocturne. Midheaven couldn't even compare to Nocturne, in my opinion. AJ came back and their technicallity greatly went up (plus he spent six months with Travis JUST to work on his vocals).
I agree that Nathan had a voice that stood out from the crowd. Now THA has vocals similar to ever "RAWWWR HARDCORE!1!!!11" band I listened to when I was in my teens. The musicianship, however, is still stellar. This is still the best they've done since Nocturne.
@MrDeathSmiles agreed. THA is the "gateway drug" to more progressive bands now that they have the more generic metalcore vocalist. Which i don't think hinders this album in any way.
Enough of this DEBATE! This is a call to EVERYONE fighting and posting arguments on all the YOUTUBE vids for THA: Let it go! Nocturne is their absolute perfection. Nathan made some mistakes and it shows on Midheaven. But, it's not all bad. This is one of the better tracks. Digital Veil is a valiant attempt to correct his mistakes which it does with some exception. Musically, it is an improvement. Bottom line: quit fighting and try and except their changes/evolution as a band or be silent.
@ProtestTheIndie I can see it, but I like where it's going to be honest. This album isn't the best, but DAMN there are some catchy parts. Like the end of this song is actually so fucking amazing.
I love the new songs, I love the old songs but if I want the screams the new singer brought I prefer to listen to Lamb of God.. I dont understand why people dont like midheaven I love both their previous albums and I only discovered THA like a month ago. They still bring something unique to the scene! Love it!
There is not a single song off this album I am tired of. I have probably listened to it front to back dozens of times. This is a well put together album. Everything was thought out. You can tell they didn't rush a thing. The vocals are unbelievable and catchy even over off time beats, which is something most technical bands can't capture. The guitars are literally awe-some. I am in awe every time I listen to it. This is one of the best albums of the year. Hands down. 5/5
please, now your just trying to make nathan out like he was that great. heh, i actually have a friend that was into the human abstract, when i asked him to see them live with me a few years back, he said and i quote "i dont wanna hear their shitty singer"
@TheFamiliarSound go check out the reviews from people who know their shit, ask any musicians...they all say the same thing...nathan, while not being anything close to a singer sent by the gods, had MUCH more to offer, in terms of charisma, performance, and originality...
The Human Abstract, at least for me, downgraded their sound from "Nocturne"...I loved Nocturne, but this album doesn't sound as promising. It's not bad, don't get me wrong...just....not as good.

@PedroRiot I completely Disagree. I saw them live last Saturday and Travis killed live! Lots of crowd participation. They played this song live and he nailed every point of these vocals. Honestly though, who cares about if hes a better singer. its all a matter of opinion.
@thornjungle6661 i respect your opinion...i can see how kids will eat his act...but to me the fact that he has zero experience as a frontman, REALLY shows...yeah hell probably get better, hopefully, but to me when youre playing with guys like THA, (AJ = guitar god, band = tons of experience), well this is unacceptable...digital veil could have been a masterpiece with a real singer...
@PedroRiot I agree that Nathan was a better singer. His clean tones had much more character and attitude. But I really like Travis' scream and growls. If he could scream the way he does and belt like Nathan he would be perfect for THA.
But in the respect, I heard they kicked Nathan out because he was an immature Diva.
@PedroRiot You know what youre talking about. Travis isnt the worst singer in the world. He just isnt better than Nathan. Travis does THA some good with his awesome screams and growls. But he really isnt a good singer. He should just stay within his ability to sing, which isnt that great. Nathan had such a unique voice which contributed to the exoticness of the band. Making THA an extraordinary band. Its all about your own opinion and preference. I personally think Nathans voice made THA rare.
@PedroRiot lolwut. Travis was in From First to Last for 8 years before joining THA.... What experience does Nathan have again? Nathan was decent on Nocturne, but as a vocalist, his screams/growls and cleans just aren't as refined as Travis'. His voice voice was rather annoying.
Nathan could actually sing his own songs live. He wasnt all fixed up in the studio. Have you heard Travis live? I feel sorry for him. He has an awful voice... And his screams make THA sound like any other metal band. At least Nathan had some uniqueness to his voice. The only thing that makes this band is Brett, AJ, and Dean. I dont even hear Henry do anything with that fucking 6 string bass he has.
@BearReportsss Travis is tone deaf. Quit trying to defend THAs bad choice. Hes awful and you know it. Henry is fine. I heard Travis just fine, he just sucked.
nice. only 4 more days and the album comes out, new protest the hero album on the 22nd, this will be a good year for albums. Cruachan just had a new album come out too on Feb 23 i think.
i like your comment but please try to never speak of that little twirp again. every time i see his name i want to barf, just dont' talk about him man. he has zero to do with what we listen to, and soon enough the likes of him and all the pop music will fade away and the good music like we like will reign supreme.. give it 2 more years.
@ogskeetdizzle nah man, pop music doesnt fade away. in fact, most of the time it gets worse. but it makes me happy that theres still people that make and enjoy good music, like this.
@Holydaver09 The band pretty much unanimously agreed that Nathan needed to go. Travis auditioned and succeeded with a dynamic vocal/scream range, and overall more of a badass. :D
@ProtestTheIndie I dno man, there's a difference between a good guitarist and a good musician.. Take All Shall Perish's old guitarist, Chris (i this that's his name...), he's a fucking beast, but if you listen to his new band (smashface), its absolute garbage. Musicianship and skill don't have correlation from what i've seen lol
This song is an epic win over all the slobbering popsongs!

I am tempted to see the lyrics. I don't want to though, because I have a different interpretation of what I hear...the things I come up with, man!
Anyway, still enjoying it like Hell (although Hell might not be so enjoying).

I dont even hear Henry do anything with that fucking 6 string bass he has.
Keebok808 11 months ago
@Keebok808 ...so the sound guy at your venue sucked? I saw them last week and Travis and Henry sounded great... as did everyone else obviously.
BearReportsss 11 months ago
@BearReportsss Travis is tone deaf. Quit trying to defend THAs bad choice. Hes awful and you know it. Henry is fine. I heard Travis just fine, he just sucked.

I liked nathan. I liked midheaven. I like this better.
The outro to this song is amazing. But I think it would have sounded better at the end of digital veil like in the sampler

@alotbetterthanyou
i like your comment but please try to never speak of that little twirp again. every time i see his name i want to barf, just dont' talk about him man. he has zero to do with what we listen to, and soon enough the likes of him and all the pop music will fade away and the good music like we like will reign supreme.. give it 2 more years.
ogskeetdizzle 11 months ago
@ogskeetdizzle
We talking about Nathan Ells here? :p
Please explain what was so wrong with his voice?
polarispkk 11 months ago
@polarispkk terrible, lame, whiny, overwrought, self-indulgent, couldn't scream worth a damn
BearReportsss 11 months ago
@polarispkk Nothings really wrong with Nathan...... Except Midhaven.
Caseygarnerguitar 11 months ago
@ogskeetdizzle nah man, pop music doesnt fade away. in fact, most of the time it gets worse. but it makes me happy that theres still people that make and enjoy good music, like this.

@rockntroopen No dude, the new album will be influenced by themselves. AJ is at the top of the metal food chain.

phatshadow01 11 months ago
It sounds like 2 guitars only, ahh what a relief...
cause if they still had 3 guitars, this wound sound like a waste of recording time...
but im loving this album, cant wait for more! :D
joelui89 11 months ago
Seriously, A.J.'s classical training brought this band up a head above the rest.

This is good..I haven't been keeping up with them but have their previous albums does anyone know why the old singer quit? Did he get fired?
Holydaver09 1 year ago
@Holydaver09 The band pretty much unanimously agreed that Nathan needed to go. Travis auditioned and succeeded with a dynamic vocal/scream range, and overall more of a badass. :D
Berserkerlion817 1 year ago
@Holydaver09 fired, Nathan was getting a wee bit pretentious, so they gave him the boot
EvilJesusWTF 1 year ago
@EvilJesusWTF good after ths shitty midhaven i would want him gone as well
psp110 1 year ago
@psp110 shitty midheaven wasn't due to the presence of Nathan, it was due to the absence of AJ.
thefocusmusic 1 year ago 3
@thefocusmusic And the presence of Tapely
anonymous564 1 year ago
@anonymous564
I don't agree. Tapley is a good guitarist but it was the fact that they didn't have the strict structural precision in song writing that AJ brings.
ProtestTheIndie 11 months ago
@ProtestTheIndie I dno man, there's a difference between a good guitarist and a good musician.. Take All Shall Perish's old guitarist, Chris (i this that's his name...), he's a fucking beast, but if you listen to his new band (smashface), its absolute garbage. Musicianship and skill don't have correlation from what i've seen lol
