That was Susie, the new Homemakers girl. She replaced Shelly Long after she was fired for being a Prima Donna, demanding a Limo and high end catering just to do the commercials. I know, I worked at the store where this commercial was shot. They were there every wednesday. And the production company that did the commercials? While I don't remember the name, I can tell you it was owned by the guy that used to do the Empire Carpet commercials.
Listen to the commercial. Smyth is never said, but smith is muffled so that homeakers is what you hear the most! Shelly is in her 80s drssup too which didn't help much!
Yeah, it's my name they print on the check, but they have the gall to say SMITH! It's not SMITH or SMITHEE, Or SMYTHE or SMythie, but SMYTH! The Smyth family didn't come from Ireland to bastardise their name! If you can't say Smyth, say Johnson; It's just as wrong as SMITH!
Shelly, wrong commercial.. The problem is that the name was pretty much missing. Changing the name didn't make business grow. Funny, I moved to florida just before the sale. I worked in Boca many times, as a what? a CARPENTER! It's funny that I now do what John did, and make a good living with the name SMYTH! EVen my business cars say free estimates, just don't say smith! In Rockford, Look up Daniel Robert Smyth. Son of Robert T. and grandson of Robert Edward Smyth. Semper Fi!
I was part of the team that cleaned up Homemakers. I was in charge of the display department. I cam from Levitz and sorry to say... I have very fond memories of the change.

John M. Smyth's Homemakers was later acquired by Rhodes Furniture and went out of business in 2005.
