Wow this is a great post. I really like the part where you took off all the lights and took a picture. This is what I need. I have a Nikon D60 and cannot get good night pictures. As a matter of fact if I realize that it is getting late in the evening, I don't take pictures because I know I would not get good results. I realized that the solution to my problem is getting a flash. What is the average cost of this flash?
I love my sb600 but never mess with the zoom or anything. I'm not sure what it is for! Should I be???? ALSO, lately when I turn my camera sideways and am using the flash it makes a jittery electronic sound and the flash fires intermittently. This seems bad to me :(
@keenstarkeenan The D50 and D70s were released at the same time. The D70s was a slightly updated version of the D70 that came before it. The D50 was released as a more entry level version.
Hey - I am purchasing a Nikon D5000 and the Sigma 10-20mm for indoor real estate photography purposes. Should I buy this flash or do you think the internal flash will suffice for now? I shoot indoors only on sunny days with all lights in the house on. What do you think? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
@nancananca NO camera has a decent built in flash. If you are going to be professional you have to at least have an external flash, because if you point the flash up and diffuse the light throughout the room it will make the room look much better and the light will be less harsh. Let me know if you need any help.
@shouldigetit thanks so much for answering so fast cause actually I'm an ameture...maybe less if there was such a thing lol I've had one practice shoot and love to shoot nature shots...I've only had my camera for less than a month so I hope I can catch on to the flash fast it makes a big difference. I've seen flashes that have the info on the camera and not the flash, what's up with that?
Do you think I should get the SB-400 or save up some more money and get this?
I don't really do any professional photography but I just want to get rid of some of the glare I get when taking photos inside with my D3100's built in flash by having a flash I can angle upwards..
@lbleanneblack Glad I could help. Would you mind emailing this video to the store that you are going to purchase from and telling them that this helped in your decision. It would really mean a lot. Thanks!
hi! very helpfull review. what about if your in M mode? what are the settings for multiple on going shoots? i'm using a nikon d60.the sb600 is a bit slow to charge up,i mean i have have to wait for the red light to take another shot.can you please help me??? thanks!
@justinleung0610 The SB600 does have wireless flash capabilities. It is very simple to set up as long as your camera body has a wireless flash commander.
You should turn you're camera off before putting the flash on.

Does the SB600 offer continuous flash? I tried to shoot burst mode on my D7000 but only a single flash came out. Please reply. Thanks
ionxi 4 months ago
@ionxi Put the flash on manual power at around 1/8 power and shoot away.

@NigeriaHammad7 It is. You can use this flash with any Nikon DSLR that has ttl, basically D50 and newer. I've used it with the D3100 and its great!

@paoiedude I'm going to make a guess that you are using rechargeable batteries. Try using 1.5v Duracell batteries.
