I was standing right next to his mom when she received the flag and she told me that I was still thought of as a daughter and that she was thankful her son had experienced love and the excitement of being engaged. This sorta feeling happened to me before, but it was where all the people were walking to the funeral, and the car holding the person was driving slowly next to the sidewalk. It was a funeral for a boy turning two the next day. It was my neighbor's son, and I would babysit him alot, I was only about eight when this happened so of course, I was very sad... this song reminds me of that day .. it makes me cry..

A family friend is in Afghanistan, near the Pakistani border right now and is coming home just in time for my graduation party. As a former US ARMY INF.ANTRYMAN I had to ride in the car behind a good friend of mine who died under my command and then the hardest part was having to hand the flag to his wife and kids. I still have not forgiven myself for that but I also am praying for the Lord to watch over all of our soldiers.

My daughter was killed by a drunk driver. She was 22 years old and left behind my 3 month old and 3 year old granddaughters. I made that ride too. You are in no way responsible for the death of your comrade. To all of you posting who have lost loved ones or friends_ live your life as well as you can now.
