That's overly simplistic and overgeneralising; I come from Crete and I'm not at all dark. And so is my family, my friends, etc. Not surprising to see blond,blue-eyed people too!

BBC didn't mean to showcase that Greek people are African or Asian. The Olympics are about people from different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds united under the same sporting event. It's about coming together DESPITE our differences!

Thats like asking why don't the America compete for states instead of USA. Basically, UK is Eng, Scot, Wales and NI, God knows why we call it GB and NI. The only time this isnt the case is the commonwealth games, where teams are put into England, Wales, etc.

Not published anywhere online as far as I can see :( Anyway, the lyrics are in Greek, not the best Greek I heard, though.

The first verse goes like this:

'Ελάτε βρε παιδιά, δώστε όλοι τα χέρια, τεντώστε την καρδιά, πετάξτε τα μαχαίρια'

Which transliterates as follows - so you can sing the song if you cannot read Greek :)

'Elate vre pedia, doste oli ta heria, tedoste tin kardia, petakste ta mahairia'

Last sentence translates 'drop your knives', very appropriate for London where I live!
