I think you may have shown lesser quality with the Sanyo... Not only is there the fact the it is $500 less, so it isn't going to be anywhere near the quality of the other camera, but I have recorded some wonderful shots with my Sanyo!!!! :)
You get what you pay for. If you want quality your going to have to pay for it. Why spend good money on something you may not be happy with. Save up and get the better.
@TheCanadianPublic i have the sanyo.. the mic is absolutely grate.. good quality sound!!
my cousin was recording while i was singing on the float.. those speaker where blowing up the whole block so imagine that lil camera next to those big speakers. and it received and recorded the sound very clear..

If you payed any attention you would have noticed he said "which camera is the better value" Not which camera is better. So he will be factoring in that the Sanyo cost only 200 verses the Canon costing 786. So both cameras will have to prove value to cost factor. So this is fair.
yaaaaaa, but im only 14, so money is a big issue. and i no the sanyo sucked in the review and all, but im only using a canon powershot rite now, so its still a big step up. and most ppl dont, but i love the florescent picture [=
If you're planning to film skateboarding videos, watch out for the auto-focus. It tends to hunt the subject incessantly, throwing everything out of focus.
That's in line with the $700 Canadian price tag I found on special at Staples.
Of course, it was on special almost a month after I paid $800 for it at the very same store. :(
As for which one I prefer, WAIT FOR THE FREAKIN' REVIEW!!! :)
Actually, I'll give everyone a nice surprise before the review is released: an audio comparison of the built-in microphones against the two Rode Videomics. No one's ever posted something like that.
Possibly Monday, June 22nd. I have the fall launch of my television channel keeping me a bit busy these days, but I will do the review!
I'll also throw in sample recordings of the Rode Videomic and the Rode Stereo Videomic just so everyone understands why having an external microphone jack on a camcorder can be so important.
Just a heads up that the review will be delayed a week. The weather wasn't cooperating as well as I would have hoped, and I was busy with a few things.
However, I've posted a ton of videos today of some footage that I've already shot with both cameras. These were both sound tests and rendering tests in preparation for the upload of the review. But this alone will give you a good indication in which direction the review is heading.
C'mon man! You can do much better than a pathetic one word homophobic insult!
That's the problem with the Internet these days. Too many people don't bother to put in any reasonable effort to properly insult someone. Even a Kids-in-the-Hall style "low sperm count" reference would have been a start!
Come back when you have something more destructive to say.
The WH1 has a smaller LCD screen, is more expensive, and might not be as waterproof as you would hope for under all conditions. There's also the risk the lens could fog up underwater if Sanyo didn't take the appropriate precautions to seal all of the optics and fill it with an insert gas.
Generally, if you want a decent digital camera, you get a proper digital camera. Sanyo's attempt to create a digital camera out of a camcorder is a bit laughable.
I'll be comparing the low light capabilities of both camcorders in my review under the type of lighting conditions people will typically encounter. Downtown Montreal has some great sites that will test the capabilities of even the best camcorders out there.
you destroyed the th1 in your review but I have it and actually for his price (99 euros) is a basic and honest camcorder.

is there a mic input on the th1?
33fgfhjjggy6y 2 years ago
nope but it has a great mic
TheParallex 2 years ago
Not exactly Check out my microphone comparisons videos. The TH1's microphone is the worst of the bunch.
It doesn't help that the Sanyo records in 128 kbps AC3, while the Canon records in 256 kbps AC3. It makes a huge difference.
TheCanadianPublic 2 years ago
i no some 1 who has a th1 and it has a amazing mic so there must be somthing rong with the 1 u got
TheParallex 2 years ago
Nope. Nothing wrong with the camcorder. The mic is simply crap. Thin and tinny sounding.

oh cmon obviously the canon's gonna be better... 1080 against 720..
you should do these videos for when both have the same resolution and frame rate

ya and theres a big price dif isnt there?

A cheap price is no excuse for a horrendous picture. That's how Sanyo blew it in the review.

Hes talking about better value for money not which is the better camera
pigeonbeatbox 2 years ago
I think the better value will be the Canon. I have the Sanyo and the cam is not so good!
SirJohnsStatement 2 years ago
Don't buy the Sanyo Xacti TH1 - if you see video shot from that camera it will put you off buying it. It doesn't even look HD

i just picked up the canon vixia hf20.

Canon atw. I looked at it on Bestbuy and it's cheap and better than the Sony.
unkn0wnk1ng 2 years ago
I prefer to avoid Sony because of their proprietary memory sticks. I prefer standards that are supported by multiple manufacturers.
TheCanadianPublic 2 years ago
lol yeah. I'm buying the Canon Vixia HF200 i only use camcorders for making skateboarding videos so.. This is the best one i can find :D
unkn0wnk1ng 2 years ago
I prefer the Canon, and I was able to get it for about $600 US. Do you have a preference?

You're a KID?!? Oh my gawd! I'm AMAAAAAZED at how INCREDIBLY you FOOLED me!
Maybe if you paid more attention on your future than on your car, you just might amount to something someday.

Epic fail. Try again.
Is there anyone out there that can help this poor loser write better insults that don't come back to bite him in the ass?
Or do you enjoy that kind of stuff, you tease? :)

She said no again last night?
Correction: HE said no again last night? :)

I'm getting the TH-1 tomorrow... but I wish I had ordered the WH-1 (the waterproof one). Agh.

Well.. the TH-1 is really bad in low lighting. LOTS of noise and pixelation... the photo is worthless too at 2mp interpolated.
