The reason why I love this TMOLM so much is because like so many other versions, their riffs are really impressive but they riff dramatically so well with the meaning behind the lyrics that the singing and acting are synonymous and strong. It would be hard for me to decide who's I like better between theirs and Idina and Freddie's.

Vocally they may be, but acting wise, Tracy is so much more "impromtu" than Idina, Tracy is ten times better, as for Fredi Walker, why not copy her, she's amazing.
Fredi was GREAT--Tony-nomination worthy great. But Chante brings a whole new life, energy, and absolute perfection to Joanne. A more pleasant Joanne, a more exciting one. One that the audience grows to LOVE...not just appriciate (as was the case with Fredi.) Chante is one of my favorite members of the touring cast, and the day she leaves, i'll cry.
Speaking of which, you seem to know Rent pretty well. What is up with the tour...when are they coming off of "hiatus"?!?
No idea, probably when the new tour season starts in the fall. I would have to disagree with you about the best actor in the touring cast. I believe Tracy to be the best for almost the same reason you like Chante, Tracy's quirky Maureen is so much more likable than Idina's who was to comfortable on stage. Idina made Maureen someone who should be directing her own protests, Tracy makes her someone who needs direction.
I agree. Tracy is incredible. I see Joanne as a character that doesn't offer much to work with. She's a stressed lawyer. Not much more to work with. With all the other characters, you have highly developed attributes that are easier to interpret. Joanne doesn't offer much creative liscence, and I think it'd be one of the hardest parts to play. That being said, I think Chante does it flawlessly and makes it so very personal (for example, her "what to do with my impromptu"...very creative)
Her impromtu line is brilliant because it plays off tracy. Have you seen the Rent10 version of take me or leave me, Fredi does a great thing with her eyes on that line.
you make excellent arguments. But I do think that Tracy had more to work with than Chante, and due to that, Chante should be appriciated because she took a character out of the dark. And yes, I'm not doubting Fredi's brilliance, i'm just saying that I am partial to Chante.
that "idina look alike" is eden espinosa and eden is amazing... so is this girl... check out eden in wicked if you don't believe me

I love Rent, and I love the way Tracy portrays Maureen. Its just a matter of personal preference.

Christine is amazing, by far my favorite! I've seen Tracy too, I prefer Tracys OTM, but Christines TMOLM kicks ass.
Onyie has a lispe, but after awhile you get used to it, they totally blow up the building!!
