yes, clearly all vibratoless voices are weak and colourless. this is just as unfitting as to say every vibrato was meant to hide weaknesses of intonation.
in reality it´s just two ideals of sound that seem to contradict each other, but not necessarily have to.
so i thoroughly enjoyed this. however i read a review that totally destroyed this whole thing especially rachel yakar. i found her singing to be very pleasing. alot of vibrato but not distressing or bothersome at all to me. can someone with something to criticize this tell me what they find wrong with it?
Some people think that early music (which actually covers a huge period of history and a great number of countries and different styles and genres) has to be sung with weak vibratoless colourless voices. The fact is that we will never know for sure how they played Monteverdi's music. Harnoncourt was considered an expert in this music. You cannot please everyone, but I think this gets to the heart of Monteverdi and Rachel gets the spirit of this sensual and very foxy character perfectly .

Is it possible to see the whole opera online? Do you know some website, where I could watch operas? I love Monteverdi's operas.
