Your theory is wrong because of these 3 options:

1 - The photo could have been taken not long after Cpt. Price was rescued;

2 - The photo could have been taken before the events of Operation Kingfish, before Cpt. Price was captured;

3 - They just wanted a nice picture to put in the end of the game, and it has nothing to do with the story, this one is the most probable.

I can explain' that. That picture is from the Operation King Fish.Betwen COD4 MW and COD 6 MW2 there was a mission that few people know. The mission is called 'Op. Kingfish'. It joined the best soldiers in the world as Soap, Price, Ghost and those other guys to kill Makarov. In operation King Fish, Price sacrified his life to protect the LZ, so his mates could get the evac. So Makarov's men didn't kill Price, but they took him as a prisioner.

The extended ending in mw3 was that Ghost knew what Shepard was up to and was ready!there is a myth that ghost grabbed a near by bodyguard and put his mask on the guard. This was seen by ppl in the extended campaign in mw3!!! Also if you watch the loose ends game you will see two people near Shepard! The one WITHOUT the FULL face mask is known to be ghost!!! If you do play the campaign extended on mw3 they play a recap from ghost's prospective showing all of this!!! Go check it out!!!
